There's one really obvious reason why Retro Studios would make a good developer for a new Zelda game: they've already worked on the sci-fi equivalent.
Well, I mean it might be neat to see what they'd do with it... Maybe have them work on an entry while Miyamoto works on another? Similar to a split-off like Other-M was for Metroid Prime.
To see Retro take a whack at it would be quite interesting. I was so perplexed when people told me they did not like or even hated Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. Perhaps Retro are the ones to reignite that spark that would grab older gamers for a new Zelda game. At the very least I'd like to see that happen.
I personally like to see RETRO STUDIO take on CONTRA,GRADIUS,R-TYPE,G-DARIUS ,BATTLE ARENA TOSHIDEN for wii-U old school gamers as myself would welcome WII-U.
Retro is a very talented development studio who will excel at whatever they do. I think I would rather they work on Metroid or Star Fox, though, and leave Zelda to the teams in Japan.
both Mario and Zelda should stay close to Japan. If they keep outsourcing other games, then Nintendo has nothing left to develop in Japan. They can still make great games just don't expect them to be perfect all the time. People are just being too hard on their games.
More milked titles. When will Nintendo introduce a new IP?
*looks at your disagrees* You know fans only consider xbox and PS titles "milked".....een though there are more mario related games than Halos Gears Uncharteds and MGS games combined.....go figure
I don't think the disagrees come from the fact that Mario's teets are sufficiently milked. ( because they are ) It's that, that's all he came here to say and the subject matter is whether or not Retro is fit to handle Zelda. Not place another shitty/unenlightened/tired milked franchise comment here please.
They do release new IPs! But people never buy 'em
1. "They do release new IPs! But people never buy 'em" This 2. # New IP's from nitnendo confirmed for this e3
Lol. Zelda a milked franchise? There were two games the whole wii gen. If Zelda is milked then so is Halo, Uncharted, GoW(both franchises), and every other franchise out there that had more than one game this gen.
The Last Story?
Kid Icarus (reboot)?
Dillons Rolling Western?
All new ip's that released within the past 6 months.
I've been saying this for like a month and a half. You beat me to the punch. +1 bubble for you.
Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, and The Last Story all say hi
Retro IS Nintendo. Let'em do it.
Well they've done excellent work with Metroid and Donkey Kong so I don't see why not. It would be interesting to see what they came up with.
One more Franchise to prove themselves, then let them do it. Zelda is a big deal, Im sure they would do a great job.
I would love to see retro's take on animal crossing.
I will comprise a list of all Nintendo 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party titles that are exclusive to Nintendo
169 Mario games 6 Luigi games 40 Zelda games 48 Donkey Kong games 65 Pokemon games 4 Diddy Kong games 6 Animal Crossing games 22 Wario games 8 Brain Age games 21 Metroid games 8 Star Fox games 33 Kirby games 6 Kid Icarus games 6 Smash Bros. games 5 Pikmin games 7 Punch-Out games 8 F-Zero games 18 Fire Emblem games 17 Yoshi games
"6 Smash Bros. games" You're a colossal troll and anyone who believes you is even more so.
I have to agree with you! What a waste of space he is, with nothing else better to do in his life...
Nice list. Too bad it's as credible as Akuma's Nintendo rants. Either you are a terrible troll or you actually believe in this. Stupid...
Sure, they could do it. And it wouldn't be like Nintendo people, including Miyamoto and Akuma won't be supervising them or correcting them if they go wrong.
PS Their is a rumor that there is a Zelda game in works set in the Future (Sci-Fi)... And then there is the rumor about the Nintendo IP Cross-over game (Star-Fox and Samus. Well if it is in the Future now Link could be in it. Wouldn't it be interesting if we find out Samus Aran is just an incarnation of Princes Zelda... =-o
LOL! just joking...NO, it wouldn't.... (Latest character models of Zelda and Samus look alot alike, hence my joke).
Digressing from the main topic, Nintendo's exclusives are usually designed differently (Super Mario Sunshine -- Super Mario Galaxy - Super Mario Galaxy 2), so it's no wonder their ip's have been able to withstand the test of time.
I believe Monolithsoft can developer a great Zelda title, all-the-while retaining the franchise's roots.
EXACTLY! I would love a Hyrule MMO, or a Zelda RPG.
It would be fun to select and play as one of the other races in the Zelda-verse.
Or a Hyrule Tactics Strategy Battle game.
Plus, I am just curious on what Nintendo would/could bring to an MMO.
Retro is batting one thousand, as is Zelda (imo), so why would Nintendo change anything? Stick to what works (sells)! Keep Retro on Metroid and Donkey Kong, but far away from Zelda. Retro could make a good Zelda game, however, they could also make the best Metroid/Donkey Kong game ever (imo). Nintendo should reward them by giving more "support" with the games that Retro has already succeeded with.
