GameSpot - 10 Steps to Dominance for the PS4

GameSpot - With Nintendo's Wii follow-up, the Wii U, due at the end of this year, the talk of next-generation consoles is already crackling. Soon we'll be overcome with rumors, leaks, and speculation about the eighth generation of game systems, which includes the next hardware from Microsoft and Sony.

But what are at least 10 things each console manufacturer needs to do to find success in the next iteration of the system wars? Last week Microsoft was in the spotlight. This week, it's time to see what Sony must do if it wants the PlayStation 4 to come out on top. (Next-Gen)

-Strong PS3/PSN game line up.

-New IP launch titles and existing IP's.

-Affordable price tag.

-Colorful easy to navigate XMB.

-New PS4 XMB features.

-Avoid a Crisis (Be on top of issues that may affect customers and notify them of problem and a solution a.s.a.p!)

- Introduce new services.

- Make it more easier for developers to develop for PS4.

Great game support, hardware, and price will always be enough for the core fanbase, but to really dominate the next gen, it's going to require more.

Sony will have to evolve its business strategy. They will have to understand how consumers are ever evolving in terms how they buy, play, socially interact with games, and how easy or rewarding the experience is. The PS4 will have to be built with this in mind.

We don't need for 4D... They will probably add 4K as that's the next big push Sony will go for.. It'll 100% be 3D.. If I'm realistic I'd be happy with bigger hard drives..easier to develop for.. Sony to advertise games more! Better graphics.. More ram!! Oh and a new OS.. Either revamp the current one or start from scratch

01 - Don't release a ton of exclusives for PS3, and then
have nothing left for the PS4. The worst thing they
could do is launch the system without any games.
Particularly GT6.
.
02 - Pricing. $399 or less.
.
03 - Graphics. They must show a generational leap. Otherwise
they might as well keep doing PS3.
.
04 - Free to play online.
.
05 - Easy to develop for. It shouldn't be hard to do if the
AMD rumors are true. Also see PS Vita.
.
06 - Backwards compatibility. If PS4 can play PS1,2,3 games
everyone would get it.
.
07 - Full in game OS functionality.
.
08 - Launch before the Nexbox.
.
09 - Improve the ergonomics of the controller, & fix L2/R2.
Only slight tweaks needed.
.
10 - Continue to build and improve on their outstanding
1st party studios. (Exclusives matter to gamers.)

1080p minimum all games

4x minimum anti aliasing all games

60 frames all games

backwards compatability (at least on the launch systems, like ps3, then they can take it away and get people into buying ps3 truehd remakes)
