Between MS and sony, if one were to show off new hardware it would be sony. They always show things off way early. E3 2005 MS showed off the 360 and launched the same year. Sony showed off the PS3 at e3 2005 (although most of what they showed was fake), then launched 2006.

As for the PS3, Sony will bring more exclusive games as well as better games than MS + PSVita games, while MS will bring multiplatform games like COD (as always) Halo, Kineckt and MAYBE a new game.

It's between Sony and Nintendo but I don't think we can say Nintendo is already the winner just because they have a new console, we need to wait and see what seems to be an epic battle this year.

I could see a slight possibility in Sony releasing an 'official' PS3 Slim @ a $199 price-point. That would be a phenomenal announcement that would really spike sales for their upcoming year.

The draw-back with that idea is that Sony not only would market a 'new' PS3 hardware... but within one year, it would have to market an even 'newer' piece of hardware, the PS4. They would have to consider how confused that could make the public; marketing would prove to be difficult.

Overall, I feel [like many others] that Sony is the only one who will give Ninty a run for its money for E3 publicity.

Between the following... Sony has a lot of potential for a superb conference.

- PS Vita games +++
- PS3 exclusives ++
- Move games ++ (especially since they are reaching the end of this gen cycle. They need to focus on low price point and appealing to the masses)
- PS Plus +

Killzone 2 looked really great and I was more than happy with it (still consider it my most favorite shooter), but better? Seriously? That trailer had absolute amazing particle effects, a higher polycount and draw-distance and an even more advanced lighting system complete with flawless shadows. If Killzone 2 had looked like that trailer, or Motorstorm for that matter, we would not be in need of a PS4 graphics wise.

i would love to see a ps3.5. Really. It launches with a 500gb drive and 2 gb of memory split. It would give some life to the ps3 right now and allow patches to games that have struggled. It would also give them the leg up on any multiplatform games. And who knows, alot of ppl may just buy it. First update adds cross game chat.

At this point of the generation, you should be able to download a whole lot of demos.

Personally I got rid of my 360/kinect. If your not a halo/gears fan and you have a pc and ps3 there really isn't anything on 360. Skyrim and games like it are better on pc thanks to mods. I wish more companies would do pc to console mods like epic did with unreal tournament on the ps3.

But like I was saying just download demos and find something you like if you truly can't find anything might as well get rid of it.

I also prefer my ps3 for media. netflix, hulu plus, amazon video and vudu without having to pay microsoft's pay wall is a huge plus and reason enough to keep the dust of your ps3. I am actually enjoying amazon video more than I do netflix, I find the quality to be better.

Hulu plus is great too, I could just use my pc that is connected to my hdtv but I like using a remote control over keyboard or game controller.

I hope you can find something to play or view on your ps3 as I have.

But 2 years ago I bought a PS3 Slim for these games:
- Killzone 2-3
- Uncharted 2-3
- Wipeout HD
- Castle Crashers
- Journey
- Red Dead Redemption (this is NO exclusive, but it is not available on PC)

Now I'm looking forward to The Last of Us.

All the games described here are enough for me to justify buying a PS3. I don't see exclusives on 360 that want to make me purchase that console. (Most exclusives also appear on PC anyway, e.g. The Witcher 2)

Also glad that online gaming is free, since I don't want to spend money monthly while I'm 70% of the time gaming on my PC.

1. Why do you care about price cuts so much when you obviously already have a ps3??
2. Why must you all constantly make game lists in every ps3 thread?
3. Every APP on the 360 has been customized for KINECT. Fora example with each movie service you can use voice commands to control. That's pretty neat.
4. As for Sony and their exclusives they have more every year but what really has it done for them? Boy Starhawk is off to a super start. Warhawk is probably the ps3 game that I have played the most. But Sony keeps making sequels to mediocre games (Killzone, Infamous, Resistance).
5. No one on this site liked Onlive but now its the best thing since sliced bread now that Sony may have some kind of partnership with them.
6. Microsoft must be doing something right because they have been more successful this gen than Sony and all of their exclusives. 2) Way to ignore the "game list" that the Xbox owner made in this comment section. PS3 gamers tend to make the list because there are still people who act like PS3 has no games.

3) Voice commands are neat I suppose, but is pressing a button and having an immediate response any worse than saying "Xbox...(insert command)? Its cool and futuristic in a way for sure, but is it worth missing out on, you know, games?

4) What have exclusives done for Sony? Maybe nothing, maybe they've lost money on every exclusive game they're released, from highs like the Uncharted series to lows like Lair, but the bottom line is, Sony has offered gamers the biggest variety in games. I'd rather have 4-5 solid exclusives a year, than 2 every two years.

5) Sony is merely (allegedly) adding another way to provide another service to gamers. What is better, making a big deal about having a YouTube app available on a paid service, or giving you access to another way to play games?

6) Here's what MS has done right this generation: They released their system first, it was cheaper, and they dipped into MS' infinite financial pockets to "persuade" third party studios to have previously announced PS3 exclusives go multi. Plus lets not forget that outside of Halo and Gears, MS exclusives have done average business. Alan Wake didnt' do as well as Heavy Rain (which had no US marketing campaign!). There's been like three Forza's on the 360, have all three combined even outsold GT5? I agree that Halo and Gears have reached a mainstream level that Uncharted never will, but let's face it, overall, Sony has done a better job catering to gamers than MS.

I could just tell you to listen to what stephmishot said, since those are some solid and perfectly logical answers, but I'll elaborate on what I personally think.

Firstly, saying you respect those people's opinions is a lie since you find the things said and what they stand for to be pathetic, so don't pretend.

1) A lower priced console is good for consumers, and means there is more opportunity for people to play some amazing games that they didn't know the PS3 had, that Xbox, Wii or PC didn't. It expands the opportunity for multiplayer based games to grow and thrive some more. To some people it's an opportunity to boast that the console will now outsell its rival. It doesn't tend to happen, nor is it important.

2) Lists are things that all fanboys provide. It also affirms observations and facts in a good way. It's not something that only PS3 fans do, and if you think so, check look closer in the comments.

3) That's okay, no one is refuting that. If that is where their focus lies, that's how it's gonna be. Plus it's not like that takes a lot of effort, since Microsoft have their own API for voice recognition.

4) The case for Sony and their exclusives: read my final paragraph for this. Why are you so hung up about what these games are doing for Sony, and not what they have done and continue to do for gamers? Millions of people love these exclusives and Sony have either provided or housed them. Mediocre in your singular opinion. Killzone and inFamous are great. Resistance faltered in its second entry, but had Sony not green-lit a third one, Resistance 3 (which is the best in the series, at least as far as the campaign is concerned) wouldn't have happened.

5) OnLive. I don't want to buy it and I don't want to use their crappy controller. I can say that probably applies to many gamers on here. But it is a huge thing for Sony to have it on their console, nontheless. Streaming games is handy and if you can do it on your PS3, for no extra charge (unless it's a PS+ feature) the incentive at least exists.

6) More successful because they released their console a year in advance, have had the cheapest HD console for most of this generation, throw their money at third party companies and have heavily, HEAVILY marketed. Yet again, you are talking corporate success like it's more important to gamers than games. That my friend is what's appears more pathetic.

Socom has been a let down since PS2. We can all admit this. Twisted Metal and Starhawk are the centerpieces of the PSN currently and are both excellent. If you'd have played them, you'd know that but I seriously doubt you have.

And it's not that Sony can do no wrong, since obviously they have done, but even if they produce some duds, at least they are making a solid (in fact, more than so) contribution to new IPs, original games and content that is and always has been produced for their core audience. And a good percentage of them range from good to incredible. Think of that, as opposed to shifting a huge amount of focus on gimmicks and content that is detrimental to their core user base. They are taking more risks for the benefit of both the industry and gamers, opening up more avenues of choice for their consumers, and not performing solely based on their own bottom line. The current financial situation of both companies should tell you something, it really should.

But some looked better and some were close.

Personally i want to see PS4, and i want it to include kepler.(wishful thinking), 2-3gb ram. cell 2.0 or a decent quad core system.

I want a new motorstorm, killzone set on earth with more color. and rock solid 60fps.

1920x1080 or 1200 would be good enough for me, with 4 aa.

GT6, uncharted 4 Must be launch titles.

Either way, it'll be interesting to see what comes.

when it comes to 2012 exclusives, the PS3 is in trouble. i know a lot of fans on this site won't accept this at all, but it is still true.

What is the holiday lineup this far?

- LBP Karting
- Playstation Battle Royal
- MAYBE the Last of Us.

--> 2 confirmed games, both won't be huge hits at all. The Last of Us needs to release this year and it needs to be a huge hit.

- Twisted Metal
- Starhawk

--> Starhawk and Twisted Metal flopped big time, Journey was well reviewed.

On the other hand Xbox 360 already had

- Trials
- The Witcher 2
- Alan Wake Americn Nightmare

Minecraft sits at 1.6 million sold games right now. Trials is on its way to be a millionseller. The Witcher 2 and Fez are well reviewed and sell decently.

Xbox 360 will have the gigantic games

- Halo 4
- Forza Horizon

Both games will sell more than 2 million copies.

So this year belongs to the Xbox 360 without a doubt. If you say "I can play some of these games on my PC" You are admitting that the PS3 needs at least a $400 PC to compete with the Xbox 360. Think about it.

The point is that Sony needs to save the PS Vita. It is very close to become irrelevant already. So they need to focus on that device more than ever, which is not good for the PS3.

I thought I said ASSHATS.. need not reply. I used the word "golden" because even though I consider most of the titles mentioned VERY GOOD,... I think i was reaching with GOLDEN. Which came from someone's former post. Anyone who checks my PS name can tell I've played a few of those titles.... so I'm not sure how I'm trolling. Nonetheless... thanks for the heads up. I think the problem here is that people overlook what each console has done this gen. Instead of seeing only a PS3, only an xbox, or only a Wii (yes I include the wii) think of them as an entire whole. I own all three systems and overall the ps3 is my favorite. I can respect what each console has done this gen though.

I will admit I'm not a huge fan of MS and the way they do business and it has severely impacted my view of the 360 as a gaming platform. In my opinion they have only truly have these games (Halo, Gears, Alan Wake, Forza, and Fez). I don't like the fact that Microsoft will push halo, gears, and a certain multiplat to infinity but usually let everything fall to the wayside. Still I will not undermine what they have done for the gaming world, they single handedly built the demand for online (Thank you Halo) and input a system for those who couldn't afford the $600 PS3. Still I don't like paying to play online (xchat, I have to pay you to use netflix a 3rd party service?), rushing your system (the RROD), where's the exclusives (in fairness the xbox was never really an exclusive powerhouse so I guess), proprietary HDDs, localization lock, and xchat (which may not be a burden to some but I sold BF3 on the xbox and got it for the PC because nobody was using their mics everyone was in xchat. I know PC doesn't have VOIP but it does have skype)

I don't like the wii or nintendo plain in simple in this gen, but I can respect the fact that I have something for my nieces and nephews to play when they come over. I don't have to explain how the controller works it's pretty intuitive, thank you Nintendo for that. Also a $250 console this gen was unheard of and I got a few good games out of it (Madworld, No More Heroes, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Zelda) Was it a casual system yes, was it less powerful than the other two yes, did that hurt the games that came out on it yes. It still doesn't dilute what they contributed to the gaming market. Never have old people and young people been able to bond over a game so efficiently.

I love my PS3, I have loved sony since the PS1. I thank them for keeping PSN free, for not rushing your system to get it out early,for including blu-ray players in their systems, pushing 3D, keeping exclusives in their line-up, for the most part not being invasive in what devs do and continuing to take losses and not hike up prices, charge extra for services. In my opinion Sony is a true gaming company. However I cannot overlook their shortcomings Thanks for e3 '05 (the only game that lived up to the hype were KZ2, Uncharted 2, and Heavy Rain). Thanks for the 20 days of downtime (yes I played beat all my SP games but still this was unacceptable), and that draught during 06 and part of 07 that hurt. Also the Agency really pissed me but that's another story...

Like I said Sony is my favorite company and it has been for the past few gens but guys can we really overlook what everyone has done this gen. I have an opinion and it's mine. Everyone else is entitled to their own. Let's not bash or undermine the importance of competition and other consoles. Think about this if MS had not gotten some PS3 exclusives to go multiplat would Sony have found new exclusives? If Sony didn't start shelling out good exclusives would MS had paid the extra money to secure ports of the Witcher or Minecraft? If the wii didn't totally murder the big two in sales early on would we have price cuts or attempts at new hardware? I thank each console and their respective company for their contributions even though I have a soft spot for sony.

Sure, ill cut the OP of this article a little bit of slack, as he does say its highly unlikely, AND he uses the rumor of Sony teaming up with a game streaming service as a point behind the claim. However it just wouldn't make sense. At least to me.

Mark my words, for this generation at least, we will NOT see a disk drive (or in this case a Blu-ray) less console. And i'm talking console, not handheld, because we all know how spectacular the PSPGO did lol.

To get a good look at the Wiiu. I don't expect much from the 3ds though, last year sucked, with only Luigi's Mansion being the only surprise, since the rest were already announced before E3.

Seriously though, people have affinities to brands and if they get enjoyment out of whatever game they play then so be it.

I think there will be a few surprises at E3 and I am hoping it was better than last year. I'd love to see Sony introduce a new dashboard for the PS3 but I can't see it happen this gen. Also some games that the media know nothing about. I'd also love to see COD have lower sales this year to force them into making a new engine (pigs might fly I suspect before this happens).
