ps3land.com: According to various sources, Sony will be charging for downloadable demos- each demo will cost JPY100, or roughly USD1
This is your "free" online service? Sony better think of something else. This is BS.
so the "service" is free, but everything on the "service" needs to be paid for. Sony have been kind enough to provide a way for you to send them money, and you get to do it for "free"! gee, aren't sony nice to their fans?
Well if that is true and i hope its not true for the sony fans then this is crap tbh.
I guess sony meant you can freely send in your money for stuff. Geeez a DEMO, they are making you pay for? you gotta be kidding me. I remember commenting on the sony online service a month ago and I always knew something was fishy. Another "I tol you so" moment. Still I wonder if this is true, but then again sony never really said much about its "free online gaming", more bombshells to come I'm sure.
$900 bucks for the full version of; one of the versions of GTR4?, im not surprized. I heard it from the feed on The Attack of the show on G4.
xbox live killer i tell you
This Move Is Not Smart for Sony, I will download my demos for my 360 and Wii only.
i heard kutaragi say something about paying like a dollar for small trials or something. This is total crap, why would you have to pay to try out a game?
non of you is buying a ps3 ,why complain?Hide like you are no fanboy when it`s clear .Sony had longtime said gameplay+basic service is free of charge while the other services might be charged.i personaly buy lots of playstation magasins just to play demos and i think making demos free will kill their magasin business
who are you telling me what i will and will not buy?
Ken? We thought you said free. I did. I said fee you round eyes misundastand me maybe have lice in my mouth. Sony online fee fee for evybody. fee fo you fee for me, evyone.
you're a funny guy
Well I myself never said I was not gettin ga PS3, so I'm not sure who "kingboy" is talking to? PS3 will be owned when it deserves to be Owned. I'am sure most gamers in here have xbox/Ps2/360, or have played all. He must be talking to the "fanboys" that only play one console. It's just most real gamers have stong opinions while having thier doubts about this new PS3 bro. This all started from the start. It really should be about the games but "fanboys" have some sort of "war'in thier noggins, which incites gamers that know better or should I say the ones that do not wanna be a "tool" to sony this time around. While there is yet a nice comparable console they can flock to. Eitherway this "Free fo Fee" service sony has been keeping on the downlow is starting to manifest itself. To pay, to try out a game is ludacris. Then pay, for when the game comes out. This is another advantage XBlive might have over this "Free fo Fee" service.
Welcom3 chang3 for now and b3yond.
Welcom3 spar3 chang3 more like
You don't knoooowwww!.
You mutha! fukas! you buy PS-thwree we shoot for the sun, but you get burned Muahahaha.
Its a smart move to charge demos then people wont try before they buy the not so impressive games
Does anybody know if the games will be any different?. Sony never had a plan and they're making this stuff up as they go. They rush their next-gen because of MS's pro's brain storming the 360 and allowed it to release early and the PS3! it self; is an re-action. SIMPLE, BILL ORIELLY anin't got nothing on me.
Considering the number of demos I download on XBlive, doing the same on PS3 is gonna be more expensive than a gold account. And that's just based on what we know so far that Sony plans to charge for. But you're right, Kingboy, I feel terrible about hurting the magazine business by getting demos for free on XBlive. I'm gonna write Bill a letter and ask him to put an end to that.
I always knew their "free" online was a scam. This is the kind of stuff that pisses people off. It's like "That depends on what your definition of 'is' is".
who needs demos anyway. i want to play complete games, not crap demos.
complete crap games are better than crap demos. Luckily with PS3 your dream will become reality
You sound like a complete fanboy. Would you ever buy a car without test driving it first?
but nevertheless it could only be a rumour, this is not official, so no reason to believe this.
You have already proven your explicit stupidity when you say i dont wanna try before buy! How brainswashed could you be ?
i think most of us PS3 fans already knew that "free" didn't mean absolutely free. sure, some of us like to throw it in the face of MS fans, but secretly, we were awaiting the REAL meaning of free.
Yes, they are usually not FULL BLOW graphically or playable wise, but hey, they are free (on the 360 anyway) and I can tell from the demo is the game I am trying is MY STYLE. I want my PS3, but I said from day one ... if they F U K us over on the ONLINE stuff, I will not buy one. Not to mention that "SONY" will not charge, but they were in talks with the bank (not sure which one) to make payment EASY to get our cash to the GAME DEVS that will charge what THEY think is fair (ala WoW) ONLINE GIVES GAMES "STAY" POWER
I mean can this be confirmed. I see nothing but 360 fan boyz being a little bore so they will take the chane to jump on any thing negative true or not. Don't worry im pretty sure some good news is coming your way soon. By the way i just downloaded Fuzion Frenzy 2 demo, if your bored why don't you go play that.
That would be mighty generous of you. This is speculation, i have no comment on this article.
one sider .... we do not have to be fanboys to be pissed off at the stupid sh!t Sony is doing. I have my PS3 Pre-Ordered but am not impressed if this is the case . The other big reason I wanted the PS3 was the 1080p function the 360 LACKED (notice I said LACKED), but that has been rectified by MS ... good on them. I'd like to play both consoles in 1080p. Now only if I can talk Nintendo into makeing the Wii 1080p :-)
Kutaragi was probably talking more about downloadable games like Flow, which has been demo'd at TGS. Probably something that the translator on stage goofed on. You people are blowing this way out of proportion without an offical statement from Sony.
he was talking about old games and stuff then he said something about paying a fee for small demos. This is from gamespot: "10:55: Downloadable 16-bit games? MegaDrive (Genesis) and PC Engine (TurboGrafx)? Where have we heard that before? Kutaragi also talks about the possibility of paying 100 yen (about $1) for a small or time-limited game demo. " http://www.gamespot.com/eve...
Im just saying it dosen't take to much effort to see the 360 fan boyz never respond to any good news just the bad. this isn't even news it a romour. Only one site reported it.
what good news would that be?
I hate to shatter reality for PS3 fans but we are already getting a glimpse into the nickel and dime mentality for Sony's microstransactions. The first is with Gran Turismo HD (which is nothing more than a demo as stated by the devs) which is now going to force users to pay for ALL cars and tracks? Secondarily if proven true this piece of news. I am not wishing for Sony's demise, but in all honesty this would really be a low blow. Moral of the story is nothing is free.
i keep reading comments about people being fanboys/girls because they own one console. that's dumb. i own one console because i am not paying all that money for two or more game consoles. call me poor, i don't care. but i have a family and i can spend money in better places.
As I've always said. You'll pay one way or the other. Or a flat fee/fixed like XBL where you know what the anual/montly cost will be. Or a paid for what you use on a variable basis. That will cost you more in the end. Be sure about that. The average amount of money spend for a person on the PS3 network will be more then 50 dollars a year. Just be sure. It will be double the XBL fee average at least. You just got f*cked again by Sony guys. Face it. A new service. Hard to put up against years of Live and in the end more expensive. Just leave Sony to punish them for what they've done and will be doing to you. Jump in
We have total control over what we pay for instead of having $50 taken from us by default every year. The key word in that article is "possibly". Paying 50 cents or a buck for an exclusive demo sure beats paying $2.50 for worthless horse armor that doesn't even do anything. Sony gives us choice while Microsoft requires a $50 annual admission fee for online play, then charges extra on top of that. Not everything on Sony's network is going to require payments. The article just brings up hypothetical situations. To charge for game and movie trailers would be stupid.
Oh like GT4 smugged up HD will cost you on each car and add up to hundreds of dollars otherwise you'll have a retarded game? Great man. Enjoy it. I just bought 2 XBOX 1 subscriptions 12 months each for 20 Euro's each. And they can be activated on the 360. So there are ways to get around very cheap. And you have a choice? Well. You want to view a demo, KATSSJINNGGGG a dollar! You know how many demo's trailers and other stuff I downloaded already for free? That would have costed 200 dollars already all together. You're screwed man. And you'll be screwed over and over again by Sony. When do you all start to learn?
I can live without free demos; I never downloaded any for ps2 or xbox, so I think I'll surivive this gen without them too. As long as it is free for me to play the game online, I'm pretty happy. It sucks that the demos aren't free should you chose to view one, but it's something I think I can live with, given the fact that I have no intention of downloading 50 demos in a year, let alone 10. What I am curious about is the cost of downloading PS1 games. Because the second Tomba!2 or Silent Bomber become eligible, I'm going for it.
360 owners buy horse armor, PS3 owners buy race cars and tracks, demos and movies. The horse armor is a sideshow, the race cars are intergral. Let's start with $50/year for Xbox Live. 1 demo downloaded every two weeks is $27.00/year. That leaves $23/year. That can easily be taken up by one or two racing games. Who knows what else Sony will come up with. So much for "free" online service.
then dont buy horse armor wiener boy...
Some of us just call them hardcore gamers (GAME HIPPIE or GAME TROLL). Prefference for one console doesn't make an fanboy( IN THE BAD TWISTED MADE UP MEANING WAY). It's just Nerds trying to make their life style seem important.
Nerds twisted the meaning of fanboy. All it really means is you are a fan of games. "Fanboy" or "Hardcore fanboy" are the only true terms if you have a game console. Sure theres different type's of fanboy (IM A MS FAN GIRL)
new definition of HYPOCRITE: quote DJ:"We have total control over what we pay for instead of having $50 taken from us by default every year. To charge for game and movie trailers would be stupid" you say you love the choice, yet sony doesn't offer the choice for non high-def gamers by forcing blu-ray on them for more price? ironic that when sony gives you choice, you LOVE it, but if Microsoft does it(but instead of a buck or two, we're talking hundreds), it's bad... and the example you used from oblivion? you don't have to buy it DJ, if it's useless don't buy it. And if you seriously don't think developers for the PS3 won't follow the same model for making extra bits of aftermarket cash, especially after MS/360 developers have done it and it's been incredibly successful, then I don't what you're smokin...but I want some.
Well its alwyas been like that bro. some fanboys on here are the biggest hyporites. Just look at that comment. Now why should you take this guy serious again? Anyhow it's sad that you have to pay for demos. But ofcourse "sony's" damage control group on here will now say " welll I never liked demos anyway, they are not up to par with the final game". "Or them demos look crappy" or its not so bad, a dollar to preview a game." "at least I don't have to pay $50 for the year with unlimited free demos and content eh". It's getting kind of silly gamers. Ofcourse this sucks for the gamers, I mean how can it not, when you compare it to Xblive. Also wasting a bubble on here to point out a typo is useless. Ofcourse more damage control will soon follow. I'm not going to be a tool for sony this time around.
Sony fanboys have finally learned the meaning of choice. Its always fun to learn a new word, now say it with me, Choose!. Thanks for pointing out that typo. lol
First learn how to spell the word.
...than for multiplayer gaming ;-) Twice the size but half the price, thanks Sony :-D
You forgot to point that out to #29.3. lol GOOD LOOKING OUT KID>.
:P My apologies on the typo. I'll do my best to track down that missing "o."
Thank #34 ghostface. He's the one who cares. Im Sorry i used you to make a point about his fanboyism.
lol, don't worry, no offense taken.
thew only thing i buy on XBL Marketplace right now is extra maps for COD2 or anything to do with Saints Row. Other than that, ive downloaded all the free trailers or demos, but really, i dont care about this, cause i dont spend a whole lot of time downloading stuff, so i dont care. Most liely i wont be buying anything form there anyways, unless i get Mototrstorm, then ill be buying extra cars, maps and tracks.
Every word when somebody posts a topic such as this? Sony hasn't confirmed anything about this and of course they barely yet to tell about there online service's plans, and already somebody like an Xbox 360 fan would typped that out in some forum in a website just like this and decides to spread his paragraphes about Sony and paying a demo game? you know that do sometimes happen people and futher more Sony barely has scratched the surface about thier online service just like I said.
Not one I mean absolutely none of the downloadable demos on xbox 360 have any cost. All F R E E! So is full motion live video chat. 1 time payment all goodies for a year.
i have downloaded about 9 itmes such as demos and videos etc. so it would have cost me 10 bucks if i had a PS3. This sucks nomatter how you look at it.
So what? What's a dollar? I'd rather pay a dollar for a demo than 5 for a gamer pic or a game I've been playing on emulators for the last 10 years. How often does a demo make or break your decision on a game anyway? You just go play it at Walmart or your rich friend's house. Then, if you like it, you buy it, or better yet, steal it from your rich friend. Now before everyone jumps on my ass with "entitlements this" and "entitlements that", really think about it. The industry is hurting. Awesome independent developers/producers are folding (AHEM*interplay*AHEM), meaning that next year you WILL buy Madden if you want to play football (yeah yeah, 2k sports, but you get the point). Piracy is cutting back on available funds for production time, thus forcing developers to launch a rushed product, leading to you paying 5 bucks for horse armor. Entitlements are just a way for SONY to protect developers. Relevence? That dollar isn't going to put you out on the street, but all of your dollars might keep a programmer fed. It's the same principle for tipping the pizza guy. (TIP THE DAMN PIZZA GUY! I MAKE LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE! I MEAN... HE! HE MAKES LESS!)
Nah just Kiiding you undercover Sony [email protected] with 360's wish that sh1t would happen. Get down or Lay Down.
