It's because the publishers force them to make the new ip similar to the old ip so that they can market it more easily. Also gullible people that totally fall for marketing.

I don't think we'd be in this mess if pubs just stopped being greedy douches. We all understand they're a company "who wants to make money" but good gosh they're just burying the gaming industry under a load of corporate garbage.
