Both THQ and Koch Media are owned by the same larger company, the Embracer Group. I’m not sure why the publishing rights would need to be swapped.

I remember when there were more adventure games but they have been morphed into shooters or RPG these days. Much less simple pirate hack n slash action gaming around.
I have to admit I'm not really familiar with the Risen games. Seems like a lot of it takes place on land...kinda strikes me as odd for a "Pirate Game". Are there no ship-to-ship battles and such?
I never thought this would receive a sequel. The pirate angle does look interesting though...
