Yakuza 5 ups the ante. Five main characters revealed, along with first gameplay details.
So freakin stoked for Yakuza 5. Hopefully they can localize the game shortly after the Japan release.
I hope they do. I know Dead Souls and Binary Domain didn't sell so well, but I really hope it does make it out here.
Dark Souls did ok
@Da Threats He meant Yakuza:'Dead' Souls, not the fantasy RPG 'Dark' Souls. Completely different games. Dead Souls did not make huge sales, only managing 600k world wide, but I think Sega were reasonably pleased with it considering it was a much lower-budget title compared to the rest in the series. Don't think the low sales will threaten the chances of an English localisation of Yakuza 5, since Sega seems to enjoy doubling their Japanese sales with just a translation.
Oh man oh man!!! I love this series and I am really happy to see that Yakuza 5 is coming. I hope they can localize it and if they don't... well I will have to test my japanese.
How do they keep making these great games every year? You'd think they would push them out every other year. TGSI
I tried Yakuza 4 and just couldn't get into it. The dated graphics were a huge turn off.
Good for you. Have a cookie.
To be fair, you need to start the series with Yakuza 1 (PS2), the story is connected. Also, it's not about the graphics, it's about the japanese culture, the story, characters etc.
I have bought this game on sale.. AND ITS AWESOME didnt expect it to be THIS GOOD!!!! Plus Yakuza 3 has a recap of first one and second game.. IN DETAIL! Got to love when developers do that :)
good for you, have a dorito.
Instead of an intelligent response I get some immature comments?
Jokes on them, cookies and doritos are delicious! I enjoy eating them after kicking some bootay in Yakuza.
i just said have a dorito, there good!
Yakuza isn't for everyone. The in game graphics(the cutscenes are incredible) are dated, the core fighting system is dated(despite the fact that there are over 150 different types of finishing moves), and the stories(especially Yakuza 4)have more twists and turns than several Spanish soap operas combined. If you can get passed these issues, which are easy to get past in my opinion, you'll experience one of the deepest (if not THE deepest stories) in the PS3 exclusive history, memorable characters that you end up caring for, and tons of replay value with over 150 DEEP side missions.
I still play tetris / counter strike this day and i'm not turn of by the dated graphics :P
Awesome! Can't wait to play as Haruka and the new dude. At least they got rid of Tanimaru, who was the least fun character to play as in Yakuza 4. Really hoping Sega gets on a translation quick and doesn't let this one rot in Japan. I love this series, really need to pick up Dead Souls soon.
Tanimaru was a little tricky ...but had some of the best finishes (if you could pull them off). The L1 counter was awesome when dispatching random thugs.
I'm pretty disappointed Tanimura is gone, he just seemed like such a great character and was also very young so could be around for a long time. I expect him to appear in the game just like Date does, two of them will most likely be together at some point.
LavaLamp: I'm with you on this one. I guess people can't have their own opinions. I have Yakuza 3 and love it. Haven't played Yakuza 4. Yakuza 3's graphics are a bit out dated for a PS3 game. Yakuza 4 is more polished though. Otherwise, great franchise. I locked in about 40 hours into Yakuza 3. very deep story.
You should really throw Yakuza 4 into your PS3 sometime soon. It improves on everything in Yakuza 3, especially with the story and characters. I'd really love to see them do a remake/remaster of the first 2 Yakuza games since Yakuza 2 was my fav and it would look awesome in HD and with no load times between areas.
Y3 Might have been a slight tear jerker. But, Y4 is a completely wonderful story. Very very well done. Take your time and invest in the sub-stories. Follow a guide if you need to and enjoy the ride!
Sega is having some money troubles. It would really help them out if they did re-release 1 & 2. I'm pretty sure they will one day. I hada PS2 never had a chance to play yak 1 & 2. I was looking at Yak 1 & 2 on youtube an emulated version on PC and it looked really nice.
The main Yakuza games sell like Hotcakes in Japan, I'm sure they don't have much to worry about.
I just don't understand why they're not as popular over sea's as it is in Japan.
i haven't even finished the 4th one yet.
VITA !! I want the game there ..
This is gonna be so awesome, really hope it comes to the states.
i'll get it day one in japan its mine
American reviewers never give this game the respect it deserves i hope it stays in japan only...
Wait!! O_o.. I agreed with you first statement, gave you an agree that .... and then read you second comments. Dang!!
well dc1... the yakuza series are some of the best games out there and i for one have never understoond why these games has gotten so so reviews.. when they are all such good games... and the latest installment "of the end" got extremely poor reviews in America.. i for one loved the game and finished it a full year before it was released state side.. i also did a review of it on youtube.com
Fair enough they don't get the respect they deserve but that doesn't mean they shouldn't come over? why should all the fans miss out cause a couple of sites like IGN don't like the game?
I'm hyped. But five characters? aren't that a bit too much SEGA? Oh well, i hoped SEGA maximize all space in blu ray so nobody get shafted.
