Diablo 3 Hacked Accounts Are Reason Enough For An Offline Mode

Cinemablend "We reported on the growing number of Diablo III hackusations earlier and also offered some ways in which to safeguard yourself while playing online. But I think it's safe to say that this really does prove that Blizzard needs to consider an offline mode as soon as possible." (Blizzard, Diablo III, PC)

This doesn't prove anything. Anyone who's online account gets stolen deserves it. There is no "hacking" involved.

Do you really feel that they DESERVE it?

That is not very nice.... :/

blizzard said its normal for accounts to get hacked when a big game comes out and tells people how to try to prevent it so that does mean there is hacking
Hicken  +   392d ago
Well, if you say so.

Is more than just "traditional" methods, if it wasn't, why would blizzard 'roll back' people's accounts prior to being hacked? If it was something as stupid as the users own fault blizzard would ignore. There's videos of the hacking taking place while the victims are in games.

I have 12 or more years invested in d2 (dad got it when I was 8) and love diablo but d3 is a mess plain and simple.

Well, this was to be expected at some time. This is what happens if you release a highly anticipated game with one caveat - to play always be online. People are going to hate it and find ways to circumvent that.

@kurianofborg #1, your awareness level is negative-335(RPG analogy), & your education level must be below pre-school to make such a statement, as for plain ol common sense? you NEED to get some.

Look at this

In my opinion I think those hacks are orchestrated for more $$$...
vortis  +   392d ago
Interesting...but aren't some authenticators free?
kagon01  +   392d ago
I don't know about that, but it does have a price tag...

The one for mobile phones is free :

But it shouldn't be necessary. At all. Especially for a singleplayer RPG (or rts, as the case with starcraft 2)

Don't know why you got a disagree but if you download a battlenet authenticator off your phone then you can have it for free, thats what I did last night.

Not a Diablo fan, but I do feel for all the people that have to put up with this DRM shit.

There would probably be more hacks without the DRM... IDK if people remember D2, but that game was hacked to hell. People making op'd gear, people making themselves invincible, people making it so they can kill others. It really ruined the experience for a lot.

That's just my 2 cents though...
vortis  +   392d ago
How would hacks effect you if you played offline though?

And who the heck is this phantom disagree-er going around adding disagrees like someone punched him in his only good nut?
Danniel1  +   392d ago
Seriously, Phantom Disagree-er could be a comic book villain.
hano  +   392d ago
Who freaking cares, it sold millions and generated tons of money for Blizzard.

However, in the case of D3, I feel it is my duty to pirate the game out of principle.

Well, its not just about Diablo III accounts for that matter, if you own a Battle.net account for whatever games they have, World of Warcraft, Diablo III, StarCraft etc.

Here is what you can do to keep your account safe, authenticator is absolutely FREE on a selection of phones (If you have a WoW account you get the corehound pup pet if you register an authenticator.)

(IMPORTANT: it comes with some kind of a serial Number code that you need to remember on a piece of paper or however you like. Should anything happen to your phone, you can use that serial number to restore your authenticator and avoid getting locked out of your own account.)

Sweep your PC on a weekly bases using your anti-Malware spyware adware etc program(s). That's what I do at least.

I personally got my battle.net account hacked plenty of times.
