Evaluating the Publishers: Part 1 - On the Edge

Will THQ collapse under its falling stock? Will SEGA rebound from its recent staff cuts and cancellations? Was Ninja Gaiden 3 detrimental to Tecmo’s future? These are just a few questions that have circulated the gaming world in recent months.
They all focus on the same issue – who are these giants called “publishers,” and how are they doing?

Darkstation.com's new feature looks at twenty of the major publishers, and evaluates them based on their current situation. For the rankings, they are interested in the stability of a publisher, as well as growth in finances, talent and titles. Most important to the evaluations, though, is the diversity and depth of a company's portfolio.

Part one looks at the publishers that are struggling (like THQ) or have poor portfolios (like Tecmo). (Darksiders 2, Darksiders: Wrath of War, Dev, Industry, Koei Tecmo, Ninja Gaiden 3, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, Sega, Tecmo, THQ)
