Its not a question of "should"

Its a question of "IF" they will.

And it does not look good.

In all reality they seem more dedicated to investing $$$ into Kinect than anything else. Apps and XBL services would be 2nd and 1st party games/devs would come somewhere after that. Hopefully this changes next generation.

Army_of_Darkness1976d ago (Edited 1976d ago )

you know, like activision.
And with the success of COD, that's all they think they really need.. (-_-)

MariaHelFutura1976d ago

Secret in the sense they haven't made any games yet.

TBM1976d ago

for my tastes YES, until then i have a pretty much unused 360 right now.

IHateYouFanboys1976d ago

why doesnt it look good?

microsoft have opened like 10+ new first party game development studios over the last 2-3 years, most of which havent released a game yet. why? because theyre working on them, and they dont announce games 3+ years in advance like sony do.

in fact, it is a fact that Microsoft actually now have MORE first party development studios than Sony. sony fans might want to say its not true, but its easily verified.

Microsoft have a different strategy than Sony, and really, you cant say that sonys is better since the 360 is sitting in the number 2 position 7 years after release, while the PS3 is still in number 3.

Microsoft have a VERY strong, small number of AAA exclusives, and they have excellent relationships with 3rd party developers who release exclusives as well as blockbuster multiplats.

Sony release more first party exclusives, but very few of them are AAA, and even less of them sell in the millions.

just because a game is exclusive doesnt make it good. id much rather take Portal 2, Skyrim, GTAIV, Bioshock, Rock Band, Rayman Origins, and Battlefield 3 than ANY of the PS3 exclusives OR 360 exclusives.

Microsoft have 2-3 retail heavy hitter exclusives every year, plus a dozen awesome XBLA exclusives every year, plus a dozen decent-to-good kinect exclusives every year, plus the dozens and dozens of AAA multiplatform exclusives every year. between all those games, its more than enough for real video game fans. the only people who think its not are the sony faithful.

It's funny how many people claim to be "neutral" or "real video game fans" when it is very clear that they are fanboys.

Most if not all of the "new" first party studios that Microsoft has is children/family oriented. If those are the types of games you like then yeah, there are a lot of games of those types you can look forward to in the future. For those that don't anticipate family type games Microsoft might as well have not opened those studios..

***"in fact, it is a fact that Microsoft actually now have MORE first party development studios than Sony. sony fans might want to say its not true, but its easily verified."****

I'm pretty sure most agree that Microsoft has more studios, it's just that people like you, the so called "real video game fan", don't acknowledge that a good number of those studios do not appeal to the core gamer.

***"Microsoft have a different strategy than Sony, and really, you cant say that sonys is better since the 360 is sitting in the number 2 position 7 years after release, while the PS3 is still in number 3."***

I guess you agree that Nintendo has the best strategy of all. I agree that both Microsoft and Sony have different strategies. You say Microsoft's strategy is better because they are in second place in hardware sales, I say Sony's strategy is best because it appeals to gamers.

***"Microsoft have a VERY strong, small number of AAA exclusives, and they have excellent relationships with 3rd party developers who release exclusives as well as blockbuster multiplats.

Sony release more first party exclusives, but very few of them are AAA, and even less of them sell in the millions."***

Here is what I don't understand. Why did you include multiplats with 360, but NOT the PS3???
Also I'm not sure what you are trying to get at with the "AAA" nonsense. A game being AAA doesn't mean it's of quality. Furthermore since Sony has less AAA titles that means those titles doesn't HAVE to sell over a million to turn profit.

***"just because a game is exclusive doesnt make it good."***

And just because a game is multiplat doesn't mean it's good. Just because you'd rather have multiplat games doesn't mean that it hurts to have a exclusive games to choose from.

***"its more than enough for real video game fans."***

And for some "real video game fans" it's never enough.

man your name screams Hypocrisy. You truly are a fanboy.

NYC_Gamer1976d ago (Edited 1976d ago )

MS doesn't need to expand on the current 360 since it's successful with a huge install base....MS will come out strong for the next console with exclusives for couple of years and then turn casual...

jmobley1976d ago

I could see that happening

NastyLeftHook01976d ago

yeah, i can see this happening too.

thebudgetgamer1976d ago (Edited 1976d ago )

Yea, because an install base makes up for the lack of exclusives.

Dark111976d ago

That is really sad , but we know it is going to happen anyway.

joab7771976d ago

I agree. They see that for the most part sony has done well but not financially better than gears or halo. Remember bungie is making a new ip for xbox360 only. It will b out just before the 720. Then they will hav one more on the 720. Micraoft knows that they have succeeded this gen. Now its time to bulk up and look forward.

But theres always the danger of not succeeding on those ips that u depend. Though so many people love xbox that it would b hard to screw up.

jmobley1976d ago

yeah Bungies game is multiplatform

Expand? you mean create.

lol bring on the 2 xbox fanboys disliking and the 'Millions' of ps3 fans liking.

jmobley1976d ago

I mainly play my PS3, but I really want a reason to play my Xbox. It just sits there

Hx3KinG1976d ago

yeah same, thats why i sold it a while back, just nothing there imo. live is great but i dont like the constant UI changes.

AngelicIceDiamond1976d ago

Should MS expand its first party. can the question any get anymore obvious?

Hicken1976d ago

I refer you to this comment above: http://n4g.com/comments/red...

The question, or rather, the answer is obvious: of course they should. So should Sony and Nintendo. It would be best if the first party libraries were larger than the number of multiplatform offerings; how could anybody justify not wanting your console then? I mean, unless you're a fanboy or the first party games are all the same kind.

But comments like the one I mention above prove that some people are content with less(ironically, this person also claims to be a "true" gamer).

FlashXIII1976d ago

They certainly need a few aces up their sleeve tbh if they want to make their next console take off. Seeing as it's people like on n4g who are the likely early adopters of the next gen console, Microsoft has a lot of convincing to do to regain a lot of their former fanboy's faith.
