David Cage: 'My team say my ideas can't fit into consoles'

After his Heavy Rain breakthrough, David Cage knows he must meet bigger ambitions. And finally, after fifteen years and three game releases, David Cage has met second album syndrome. His vision, to create an interactive drama that sells on its narrative, was not realised at the first two attempts.

The Nomad Soul (1999) and Fahrenheit (2005) hardly exhibited the silver screen sophistication that Cage had always strived for. Yet they both shared the same DNA as his third title and breakthrough hit, Heavy Rain (2010).

Cage... You're awesome man... Don't stop making amazing games like Heavy Rain. I don't give a shit if they don't fit on consoles, FIND A WAY TO MAKE THEM WORK. Your ideas are wonderful and a breath of fresh air in this stagnant industry.

Heavy Rain was definitely one of the best gaming experiences I've had this generation.

I bought a PS3 to play Heavy Rain. Even if it was the only game I played on it, it would have been worth it.

It was a great game, one of the few games I'll probably never trade or sell.

It was funny in the article how nonchalant he was about the next generation. Totally just yeah whatevered the whole thing. I'm with him though they should sit on it for another few years.

Ah....Heavy Rain. That was an awesome game. Despite having collected all trophies already, I recently replayed the game using the PS Move. Strange at first, but was actually pretty good.

I implore this guy to continue making such games - true innovation.

I can't wait to see what he can do on ps4

If devs think small it'll just be another average game instead of something ground-breaking and different like Heavy Rain...

He is brilliant, up there with Ken Levine and others. Keep the games coming!
