Rockstar has finally figured out how to tell a great story in an action game.
Sorry, I was too busy playing Diablo 3 to notice.
I agree that this game is all about the story. It's the main reason why I had to play it to find out what happened to the old man after Max Payne 2. I equate playing through these games like watching a really good mini series (shows my age) since they take anywhere from 6-12 hours to beat (watch). I beat this one over the course of two days on medium and it was very cool. I had a few issues with the gameplay mechanics which was game breaking but I soldiered through.
Haha, the only issue I had was if you're switching weapons right when it transitions to a cutscene, your guns disappear. It's solved if you pick up another gun or just restart the level. Either way though, people might complain that there's too much story in mp3 but I think that's what made it constantly engaging. If you have a 12 hour game where all* you do is shoot (no mini games, no side quests, no vehicles ect) and you never* get bored, you have a real winner on your hands.
I agree with the transitions. I had some issues where cut scenes not activating and falling through the world after passing a section where the cut scene didn't start and having to start an entire section over. Parts of the scenery disappeared and would not reappear until after I died. The game froze a few times and the audio didn't sync up in cut scenes or there was no audio at all. Also Standing up after diving or after getting off the ground is a pain in the butt. I had several occasions where the final guy in a shoot out kept killing me and magic bullets that got me in cover :( I haven't been frustrated with a game like I was with this one but it was still fun.
@ above Haha, wow. I never had any of those problems. I'm on PS3 by the way.
