Seriously, people, Battle.net is not secure unless you have an authenticator. Luckily, you can get one for most tech devices out there. Just remember to record your retrieval code so that if you delete the app you can recover it later on.

Blizzard pretty much relies on authenticator use to keep their service secure and they stopped really doing much for security outside of that since they went live with the program.

"Blizzard offers an Authenticator designed to provide extra security to your account. Donlan did not have the authenticator before the hack, but reports suggest accounts have been compromised even with this enabled."

just sayin'.

Yeah, I'm not believing that. I know it's possible, because anything is, but my 'skeptic' meter is going off big time.

You would think they would want to have a really secure system included with their DRM and Auction house business.

Just goes to show their only worried about protecting their own asses and care little about the consumers.

lol. My name is blizzard, I make tons of money from WOW and diablo by putting minimal effort, and yet i cant afford to make secure servers or graphic updates, hell not even gameplay updates.

seriously its sad. You would figure the biggest MMO company would atleast know how to protect their paying customers. but they have their money so what do they care

Hackers gonna hack. They always find a way around security. They wouldn't be very good if they couldn't. It's impossible to stop hackers.

kevnb2011d ago (Edited 2011d ago )

Its probably just key loggers. They would be looking for steam and battlenet accounts. That's why the authenticator works, you no longer have to keep your computer secure.

Clearly you didn't read the article, and the comments where people that have authenticators have still been hacked.

Herp.

This just adds to the arguement that constant online to play even the single-player game is a bad idea. Tempting hackers with account or gamers information in the name of securing your intellectual property is a poor excuse.

kevnb2011d ago

So they should just stop making games online period right? You do realize what you do solo affects multiplayer right?

MacDonagh2011d ago

Just to clarify something; does all the loot and gold that you've gained through the single player become susceptible to hackers?

DevilishSix2011d ago (Edited 2011d ago )

The only reason the Auction House is the way it is is because Activision wants to make more money and because of this, the single player and multiplayer fans have had to suffer thru unnecessary log in problems, lag, and now hacking is just the cherry on top.

I am so tired of your elk apologizing for this type of unnecessary DRM intrusion into a hobby I love.
