Are movie downloads Blu-ray's biggest threat?

Tech.co.uk writes:

"At CES this year, Blu-ray was the biggest winner in terms of the HD format war. HD DVD lost one of its biggest advocates, Warner Bros, when the studio decided to exclusively support Blu-ray in future. We thought that HD DVD was already dead. But one analyst thinks that both formats are still losing, with consumers bearing the brunt of the format war, which helps nobody."

The story is too old to be commented.

How about we worry about digital downloads after this little format war is over first.

Digital downloads aren't viable for another 10-15 years.

goodfella,

MS or any other companies that may support digital downloading are not even ready yet neither are people.

It's not gonna happen for another 10-15 years.

And that would suck because we'll have even more overweight people.

JEEZ, WHY DON'T YOU JUST FEED PEOPLE WITHOUT THEM HAVING TO DO IT THEMSELVES. ;)

To the masses DD is no where sound but to the niche market it's already taking storm. Why do you think BluRay and HD-DVD are here now? For DVD's weren't bringing in the money they once were for people found a new medium of getting there movies.

Now the Wii has proven that in the end the masses win the dollar but DD already has it's foot firmly placed in the doorstep.

well i think DD is way to early to be implimented this year and the coming year. and i also agree to spike47 neither the developers and people are not yet ready for DD. lets just wait and see if people will accept the DD 100% completely while there still HD and BD DVDs being develope, bill gates is thinking way to ahead of what is needed to be develope right now.
