Mother 3 on Consumerism, Art, and Death: “Strange. Funny. Heartrending.”

BT writes: Ape and HAL Laboratory’s Earthbound (a.k.a. Mother 2) is a cult classic. Its sequel, Mother 3, is arguably an even better game, but without an official English release it has languished in relative obscurity. Whether or not North America ever receives a Nintendo-sanctioned port or remake, many die-hard fans have worked on translated scripts and ROM patches so that even more people can experience the masterful writing of Shigesato Itoi on display in Mother 3. It is from these translations that this edition of Pixelated Pretension is based. (Mother 3, Retro)
