Showing the first 15 minutes of Ghost Recon Future Soldier
Looks awesome. Now I don't know what to get Ghost Recon or Dragon Dogma.
i would wait for reviews on both before deciding also you didn't buy but pirate it since the game isn't out till tuesday
I guess you never heard of mom and pop stores. Funny thing is, the mom and pop store on my block has been selling this game since last Friday. Had I not been too busy playing Max Payne 3, I would have bought it already.
If you have a pirate box get the two they are great games! If you have an original xbox without modification its a very easy choise, the two games look gourgeous, but one its a hack and slash with a rpg mix and the other a tactical shooter,if you like to play online with friends get Ghost recon ,if you like more of SP games get Dragon dogma! The SP on Ghost recon its a great adventure too but it only gets you 5hours to get to the end,Dragon dogma its a 30+ plus hour game but no real MP,its Single player only.I have the two for my jtag console ,but im buying Ghost recon original on store for my MP fix.
How about both like me :)? But if I had to choose, it would have been a tough choice.
If you like RPG more, get Dragons dogma. If you like shooters more, get Ghost Recon. I would also wait to see if it get's positive feedback.
I'm getting both. I stopped going by reviews long time ago
It doesn't look awesome to me. The part where there were some explosions was pure ugly. That's not even the worst of it. The controls are terrible, as well as the voice acting.
So you watch a video and say the controls are terrible.Actually they are not so different from Advance Warfighter! And they feel very smooth.
The other videos online, the beta, screenshots, etc. Reviews will give it 8-9 because that's all they pretty much give out nowadays, but it'll suck. Edit: Looks like some fanboies is just going through all the comments and disagreeing with everything negative that pops up.
0 agrees, 25 disagrees... Holy crap ive never seen that before
The control is different from MW and BF3.. GR is more tactical game. It is not run and gun like MW... I have to agree with the graphics. It is not that impressive... but we will wait to see the gameplay...
and the graphics actually looked good. I just hate all the icons on the screen. I also hate that you can see through walls without sensors being thrown. There's no element of surprise anymore. It's almost pointless to hide as if everyone has X-ray vision. They are ghost and should the choice of going silent, so why weren't suppressors an option on these missions?
I wasn't impressed with the graphics on the 360 beta at all so I'll wait for the PC version so it can look its best.
Xbox version has jaggies, muddy textures and an aweful framerate. I'm not buying it either way because it's not even ghost recon any more. They didn't have to change the island thunder formula.
Dude, i dont get any game on consoles that come out for pc too! PC games are just soo much better looking and smoother running. I will get this game for PC because im sick and tired of EA's Battlefield, it was ruined by that dam update.
Completely agree with you, although for the games I really want I usually can't wait to get them so end up getting them on consoles, well at least when they come a bit later for PC which is usually the case and I also agree with the Battlefield update, I may try the next DLC pack though for the weapons.
Yeah man, the loading screens were long as hell in this video.
This is a tough one. The game looks great, but I don't know if it will pull me away from gears of war 3 or mw3.
can't wait.. Was it released yet?
I've tried the beta and I can affirm that ghost recon future soldier is certainly a funny and addictive game to play on-line, as the previous ghost recon 2. But grafically.... is unacceptable, looks like an xbox360 first generation game.
Not very compelled.
The storytelling devices, the characterization and scripting look pretty heavy handed and tired.
I preferred the drier, more matter-of-fact tone of GRAW.
Also, I preferred the long distance, drier action of that game.
You can see that they made a conscious effort to shorten assault distances, now there seems to be a sprint button instead of the free flowing momentum of the previous games...
It feels more like a mix or Gears, Rainbow Six and COD than GRAW.
The problem when your start going for what works and cater to what people want is that you end up with the same concepts everyone else uses.
GRAW was a game that I had grown to like.
Originally I didn't enjoy the slight inertia of some moves, the heavy aiming, the barely visible enemies... But then I realized that it made me feel a bit of the adversity of that guerrilla-style combat. You really felt like you wear pinned down in the heat wearing uncomfortable equipment.
All that and the dry, emotion-less ambiance with nameless enemies made me feel how it must be to be following orders and fighting a war you don't understand much about, in a country you don't know much about.
That's what I loved about GRAW. It was one of the very few games where moderate immersive elements borrowed from casual shooters and select physics/ergonomy choices lifted from more demanding games collided to give videogame warfare a rarely seen dimension: that of something uneasy and distressing.
Now it feels like standard militainment.
looks pretty sick. i liked when the truck blew up
*sigh* What the hell happened to Ghost Recon? I mean, this might be a good game and all (I haven't played it), but when the formula changed, it shouldn't have used the Ghost Recon name. This one's just so "OH, LOOK, BAD-GUYS. USE YOUR AWESOME STUFF TO KILL 'EM" when that was never what the original was about. Still, Red Storm's a good developer. Here's hoping this game is received well.
Just curious what the original was about? I don't remember the details of the game just the fond memories of playing it which seem to involve a lot killing bad-guys with awesome stuff. Dam now that I think about it I should have played THAT this weekend instead of finishing off the achievements in Prototype 2. GRAW was the closest thing I could get to Full Spectrum Warrior this gen, so I just hope it doesn’t lose some of its tactical-ness. From the videos I have seen it looks nice and tactical so far but we will see.
FCO, the originals were much more about planning attacks and using tactics such as flanking, smoke, cover fire, etc than they were about all out action and future-y weapons. The games had huge open battlefields that allowed you to go anywhere and approach situations how you liked. Health was not regenerating, and one shot could kill. Also, your squad mates had skills and names and if they were killed in battle, you lost them for the entire game. You would have to finish the mission alone, and start the next mission with green recruits. Like Evil said, this could still be a decent game, but it sure as heck isn't GR. I realize there isn't much of a market for a thinking man's shooter, but I still think a tactical mil-sim could sell very well if done right. This just blends in with all the other hundreds of FPS & TPS's out there...
Everything evolves. If they gave you the same sh*t just glossier, you'd complain and say "more of the same." Cant make any of you f-ckers happy anymore. The military isn't using the same technology from 1996, so why should the game? Last time I checked it was called FUTURE SOLDIER. FCOLitsjustagame-You don't really remember much about the old stuff because they never really put a narrative on the story. It was a FPS. Forgettable story and mostly online play. Island thunder and all those games were good for its time, but not heavy in the story. They are going for an all out story driven game this time around. You want to care about the characters and the events happening around them the same way you felt about Soap, Ghost, Mcintosh, Logan, and Ding Chavez. if you ever played BF:Bad Company..you gotta love Sweetwater and all those guys. You want to take on their next assignment and see what happens. GR never had that identity. The old GR games had you in the woods(HUGE MAPS) looking for a fight. They scaled it down to make it much smaller.
I really want to buy this, but with being an Ubisoft title, it'll be 1/2 price in a month or two's time. Every AC game that I have bought at full price has been $20-30 dollars 3 months later or so.
Shooting red silhouettes just doesn't seem as fun as shooting actual humans. I really miss the old GR's (non-future-y)where it was about actually planning attacks and using military tactics rather than having robo weapons, cloak suits, rocket mechs, and just aiming at giant flashing lights and pulling the trigger. Maybe for the next GR (AKA even more futurer soldiers) they will even pull the trigger for us, so we can just watch the explosive action occur!
That makes sense with the way Ubisoft is dumbing the Clancy games down for "idiots" (not trying to offend anyone). There is almost no way they can dumb these down any more and that is the next logical step. Oh wait, they already did that....Splinter Cell Conviction. :x
Couldn't agree more. Hated what they did to SC as well. It is sad really, GR, R6, and SC are three of my favorite IP's of all time (love the tactical action), but I haven't enjoyed one in many years. I'm still holding out hope for Rainbow Six kill the tea party or whatever they are calling it, but I highly doubt they will go back to their roots for that either. Maybe it is just a sign I am getting too old for gaming when I keep reminiscing about the "good old days" of gaming. I just have a hard time getting on board with everything being mainstreamed. Hopefully with the rise of Indie developers, the next gen will give us more than just COD clones...
That first demo of R6 patriots looked pretty good, not really tactical though...but still had squad commands and still sort-of resembled R6. However, main members of that dev team got replaced so the game might be totally different.
