Why Battlefield 3′s Rent a Server Has Damaged The Online Experience (Xbox 360)

Push-Start's Aaron Stone Writes: What components make a multiplayer game successful? Is it the gameplay? Or perhaps a levelling system that is so commonly seen these days? Well for me it needs rewarding gameplay and a variety in maps and this is something that Battlefield 3 had. The problem that I have with it now on the Xbox 360 (not played on Playstation 3 or PC) is the rent a server. The idea of it is great, let players customise the rules to fit their liking and on paper, it should be great for players like me who can hop on the server browser and find lots of matches with different rules and find one that suits my play style. This is what i was expecting when i recently started playing it again, only for expectations to be shattered as i only found people playing the ONE map, that being Gulf of Oman. (Battlefield 3, PC, Xbox 360)

I honestly hate the idea of allowing users to rent servers and making it so difficult to find the official DICE servers. Even if I happen to find the correct name, it's a fake and I generally get booted numerous times from users even though I go by their rules strictly. I assume I get booted for killing the admin when they're in a birdie or if I killed them when they're on a roll or something. :/

The official servers are back now.

Wow, you got hate for that? They definitely are back and running well. It's not that hard to favorite a server that's good and then play it. (Although it took me a while to figure that out. I usually just looked through the pages for about 15 seconds before I found a DICE server.)

@ExCest

I know right. Some people can't handle the truth.

If you can find a good server, its great. I favorite ones I like and only play on them. But with that said its difficult to find a good "honest" server. The only reason I don't like the DICE ones is because I like the games to be at 200% tickets.

I can't stand the rented servers or the admin that run them. I have been in several matches were the admin kill the entire team if they are losing so they can try to gain a flag back. I was in one server last week that the admin killed off the entire teamand try to spawn camp on us and loom us into your beginning point. he failed we stole his dog tags and he banned most the players
