Will the Microsoft Xbox win the living room wars over Apple, Google?

If you follow start-up culture, you know that the ability to “pivot” — to change your business model on a dime — can be the difference between failure and major success. But sometimes established companies — even those often derided as dinosaurs — can reap the benefits of pivoting as well.

The story is too old to be commented.

I don't see why not. Heck, I don't even think about Google or Apple when it comes to my living room, lol.

Google is only really good for searching stuff and i don't even use Google +.

Never underestimate the Apple fanbois.

The Apple TV and Google TV arent even selling well at all, The apple tv didnt even sell 3 million last year. Of course it can beat both

Tbh I think they have already. When its comes to this topic both apple and google are nonexistent. I see more people promoting the xbox for living room entertaiment than the apple tv

kreate2105d ago

I always thought its the pc that won the living room entertainment since long ago.

So i guess microsoft does win. Whether its xbox or windows or both.

StrongMan2105d ago

Maybe, but they can't beat Sony. The PS3 is the most used console for media purposes.

I have to agree. I'm more comfortable leaving my PS3 (OG 60GB) on for prolonged periods watching movies and playing games then my xbox. The cooling design is still suspect to really handle such multitasking appication load IMO.

Apparently, it's the most used for gaming purposes.

Which is the 360's main purpose, something that Apple and Google can't touch, despite what people fool themselves into believing.

In the UK its almost non-existent compared to what you can do on the PS3/360 in the US. Sky in the UK gives me everything I need. Yes its alot more per month but I get all the new Movies, TV Shows and live sports. I dont have to go searching to see what service has what I want to watch, in the US you have to search iTunes, Zune, PS Store, Netflix, HBO GO, Amazon, ESPN, Hulu. some device has it, others dont. Seems like a real nightmare.
