Was Xenoblade Chronicles Worth the Effort?

GameXplain: "Operation Rainfall seemed like a pipedream when it was first announced. Gamers have attempted campaigns like it countless times in the past and the majority of them have failed outright. Whenever one did succeed, it rarely posted the sales that the publishers hoped to see. People are willing to verbally support a cause, but it seemed like few were willing to spend money on it. Worse was that the campaign was appealing to Nintendo, one of the most stubborn developers in existence. Ever since its release in 2006, fans have been begging Nintendo for an American release of Mother 3, but it looks like it'll never happen outside a fan translated rom. I fully expected the same to happen to the Operation Rainfall games: The Last Story, Pandora’s Tower, and Xenoblade Chronicles." (Wii, Wii U, Xenoblade Chronicles)

Uh, yes?

absolutely YES!!!

not only because this gen seriously lacks good jrpg games compared to the older gens.

no, xenoblade even compared to older jrpg classics from the ps1 era still standout. it is THAT good imo.

They didn't lack. They just weren't concentrated like last gen. This gen, they're mostly on the handhelds, but there are gems- like Xenoblade Chronicles- on all systems.

lacks good jrpg games (compared) to the older gens.

It has fewer good jrpgs compared to previous gens, i have played several good ones for the ps3, so your seriously lacks, is full of it. That or your taste in jrpgs sucks.

Xenoblade is a great game. I put down the ps3 controler to play it and yes it was worth it.A good rpg is just that. I don't care witch consul it's on.

I'm going to have to say Yes. This is definitely the Wii game to have.
PopRocks359  +   370d ago
Damn straight it was. The game was awesome.

Even if it wasn't, it got people interested in a game that otherwise would never have come out in the western region.

I bought a Wii for this game and haven't regretted in the slightest. My personal favourite for JRPG of this generation, even over Lost Odyssey.

Yes because we not only got xenoblade, the last story, and pandoras tower but we also showed nintendo that we will support all core games so this hopefully doesnt happen again. Even if they just add subtitles on niche titles WE WANT THEM! It was a victory for gamers everywhere.

Im halfways(???) though xenoblade and this game is fantastic. I still think Lost Odyssey was the best jrpg this gen but its a close one. I cant wait to see what monolith can do with the 3ds and wii-u. Hopefully mistwalker has found a home with nintendo since MS tossed them aside like garbage those idiots. Oh well Last Story in a month or so, im happy.

I don't understand why xenoblade wasn't given a na release to begin with, it is a traditional jrpg it isn't a quirky and obscure japanese title.

And it already had a euro release, a us release should have been a given.

The fact that nintendo fans had to start operation rainfall proved how badly out of touch, someone high up in either noa or noj, was with understanding it's customers.

Xenoblade is a great game that every Wii owner should have the experience in playing. The world is massive, the story is very good, the sidequest keeps the game going for a long time, and the graphics really seem to push the Wii hardware. If anyone is on the fence, the answer is yes, go get it!

I no longer own a wii but i bought this game because i figured it would have a limited run here in the states. after the wii u launches and it has a decent enough library that fits along the lines of what games im interested in I'll get one so i can play this game.
