gamrReview: "Diablo III is great, much as StarCraft II was when it released back in 2010, but neither, ultimately, have managed to live up to the legacy of their predecessors."
I remember playing the beta a couple of months ago and being worried by the lack of customisation and PvP. I was hoping those would be improved in the full release, but unfortunately, it seems not. I'm sure many people will still enjoy it now that the servers are working, but it's not for me.
Truth be told, I can't get behind a game with always-on DRM. works for people in big cities and reliable internet connections, but out here in the boonies, our internet can shut off for hours at a time. Good as this may be, I can't support it.
thats too bad, i guess you miss out on every online based game. The reason this has to be always online is the same reason you cant solo offline in an mmo, cheating.
Well I don't play MMO's, but I do play other stuff online as well. the difference is that when I want to play singleplayer (an overwhelming majority of my gaming time), I can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the game. With Diablo III, and any other "always on-DRM" enabled game, I can't do that. out here in the boonies, if the internet goes out, I lose a small portion of my game; with Diablo III, I lose it all. That's not cool. I understand the whole "like hell you'll pirate our game" or "Like hell you'll cheat the system and make free money", but at the same time, it only hurts good consumers. Once again, the minority ruin it for the majority.
@ kevnb Exactly, I don't see why SO many people fail to understand this.
Even if it doesn't live up to Diablo II, it sure seems like it did well.
I told a friend of mine who played Diablo 2 for years about the lack of a skill tree and I thought he was going to faint. Definitely could see some long time fans being upset.
i dont mind it this way, you still have ruins and still have to use the right skills. But leveling up and selecting skills slows down gameplay quite a bit.
one of the reasons i passed on this game, amongst other things
Game is badass. Deserves higher than 8.4. Especially with the high reviews game are getting nowadays.
