Sony Ericsson reveals Xperia X10 Android handset

The latest handset maker to pick up Google's Android OS and run with it is Sony Ericsson. The company has unveiled its Xperia X10 smartphone, the first of a planned range of Android handsets from the company.

It's due out in Q1 next year, and runs Android 1.6 - a puzzling decision, given that the first handset running Android 2.0 - Motorola's Droid - goes on sale this week.

Even so, Sony Ericsson has followed in Motorola and HTC's footsteps by creating its own custom user interface that sits on top of Android. This one's called UX, and includes a couple of Sony Ericsson's own applications.

I think the best Android phone is the G1 :)

I like the full keypad and scrolling ball. The on screen optional keyboard takes up half the screen and those suck!

i saw this phone in gitex in dubai and i loved it
you can use it as a PS3 controller + you can use remote play just like the PSP

and the cam on that thing is so cool
its all touch functional
if you want to focus on something just touch it on the screen
and it'll do the rest
and the pics are really good on that thing

im not sure if its the same exact one
but it looks like it

EDIT
@below

YES thats the one
thanks

3 - Liking the look of these Android phones
The HTC Hero has really caught my eye recently and am really considering switching from my Blackberry. I think I'm going to wait until next year though before maybe making the move to let these companies make better use of the OS and have some better features developed.

I agree. I have an iphone and while I love the user interface, the more I see about android the more it seems to be the next big thing. I like the sound of an open platform mobile device OS

4 - Really unimpressed
I was looking forward to this phone from when I heard about in July. But that was a poor demonstration from SE. Extremely lag UI and no multitouch. They have stiff competition in the smartphone market and currently it won't compete.

I hope they completely revamp this phone for when it comes out. If so then I probably will get it.

The Droid is sick, I can't get away from my BB Storm fast enough. I can't wait til Friday. As a Verizon customer for a long time, I've been waitin for a worthwhile phone.

No Tegra, no buy. Q1 next year and still no Tegra phone in sight from the major manufacturers. Or am I missing something? I was hoping HTC would be quick to jump the Nvidia band-wagon as the Tegra platform looks very promising. In fact, it's pure awesomeness from the looks of it. Quake 3 in full AA with 35 FPS on a freaking phone... Don't you just love technology?

Though I think they don't want to produce in-house competition for the PSP.
