God of War: Ascension Single and Multiplayer Details

By now many of you guys are just waking up to the news that God of War: Ascension will be receiving multiplayer. Well Sony has just sent out press releases with some details about both the single and multiplayer.

the MP is going to be just like the Ninja Gaiden Multiplayer. I wish developers would stop shoving MP down every single game's throat....

This is the reason I'm hesitant to purchase this day1.

to disagree with you respectfully. Itagaki had nothing to do with the recent Ninja Gaiden 3 and he was mostly to blame for it's success. Japan also doesn't care really about MP as much as the west does. I think you're jumping the gun a bit without taking into account a lot of factors. But that's your opinion.

I think we should wait to SEE this MP before we start freaking out. It's been rumored for months that the next GOW would have multiplayer so this doesn't surprise me.

Its not a pvp multiplayer, but rather a co op only multiplayer where you use unknown characters

So its kind of like portal 2, the mp is a co op campaign, where you need to work together, and really bloody

If you like GOW but have a problem with MP(even though you haven't tried it), then skip the MP and play the SP. No one's forcing you to play MP. Just stick to the story mode like previous GOW games.

It's sad to see single player games are dying out...

I get it...it's God of War people want to stay hopefull about the multiplayer but really....was there any point of tacking it on.

I'd rather have a longer single player

Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Half life, Final Fantasy are the only some of the triple A franchises which havent tacked multiplayer into the game...

MrDead, your absolutely right. We can't throw out assumptions that this MP will suck. I've said it before, this GOW game NEEDED to take a risk. After five GOW games, multiplayer was inevitable.

Sony Santa Monica knows what they're doing...so I'm sure it won't be tacked on.

Yeah but ND were lucky it worked with Uncharted, very lucky.

There's only a very small chance it works out in the end, but for something like God of War, it just dosen't seem to suit the game at all.

Dead Space, Assassins Creed, Bioshock, Singularity, RE5 (co-op) onlines for example were all bad.

This is the age that we bury classics in a horrible manner. Their first mistake was taking another step back instead of moving forward with the story. Now multiplayer..

Forward with the story? So, all those gods and titans that are dead at the end of GoW 3... what's he going to be fighting next?

There were multiple avenues to take the story, but if it involved Kratos and anything with Gods or Titans, it has to take place before GoW 3.

Personally, I'm just kind of tired of playing Kratos and would rather than option to build my own hero alongside the story of Kratos with the option to select my main weapon rather than more Blades of [Greek Reference].

I am wondering how the MP will turn out. Although I didn't think MP was fun in AC (and most people I know played it only until they got thier achievements) or in NG3 (sweet god ive heard nothing but the worst), maybe this team can pull of competetive MP in an action game.

BTW, why are there even comparisons to the UC series? Comparing MP in a shooter to an action game seems kinda off to me. UC had a MUCH easier road to MP, shooters (fps and tps) are much easier to make MP for. Action games on the other hand...

I'm saddened by how cynical so many of these responses are. Not only do we get another amazing single player god of war game- just wait till the single player stuff gets revealed, sure it will be amazing- but we also get an entirely new extra game mode that we can play with our friends for FREE.

I don't personally play multiplayer games much but the vast majority of people do. If this change helps persuade those people to go pick up a copy than I'm all for it. It can only result in more people experiencing GOW (one of the best action series ever created) and the game sells better as a result (ensuring we get more of them in the future).

What's not to love? I just don't get it! It's a new effin GOW people! F...ckin smile or something you ungrateful bastards!
