I agree with Halo 3 for only 3 reasons

1) No custom game browser
2) Graphics that aren't revolutionary despite having UNLIMITED BUDGET

Halo 3 could have been one of the greatest games ever made, but whether it was limited by DVD size, the Xbox 360 lacked the power necessary, or whether Bungie just didn't have the dedication necessary to create the game that could have been. Watching the documentaries it is revealed that they spent months building and play testing a single multiplayer map at a time.. and for what? The maps are not good... and it shouldn't take more than a couple days to develop a map... The story was atrocious and a better script could have been written by a 12 year old. Then they LIE to us and tell us they would have a custom games browser, which in my opinion would be the saving grace of the entire series but they decided to not include it for no good reason.

cod4 was a disappointment for me, the single player was super short, if it had a 10,to 12 hour campaign, i would of bought it, not to big on multiplayer on cod4, so that was a disappointment, another is that lair wasnt as great as it was hyped to be, to bad i havent tried it yet, ive actually heard some say it wasnt that bad, ill have to rent it sometime

im sorry but i dont agree, i think COD4 is an AMAZING game! the story mode will only 5-7hours if you dont play it on veteran, it took me about 3 days from purchase on launch day to get the full 1000/1000 achievement points for it, then i got loads of messages saying wow i cant beat level blah blah blah, so yeah if it was a disappointment i recommend you play it on veteran :)

All games that ignored or relatively ignored (COD4) single player campaigns are all disappointing. I mean, the single player game is the core of the whole thing. Developers should not concentrate on stupid multiplayer gaming over the single player gaming, that is just idiotic. I played online at games like COD4, TimeShift.. and found it plain boring. The only type of games multiplayer works is in sport games and that is it.

As much as I enjoyed the game I'm giving mine to Assassin's Creed. The first 3-4 hours of the game are absolutely freaking fantastic. There's nothing like when you first get to Damascus and get your first vantage point to show you just what lies ahead of you. But after you make your way to all the cities for the subsequent rounds, the repetition sets in. The main assassinations I didn't mind and actually enjoyed. Those recon sidequests (chores) HAVE to be worked on (or omitted completely) for the sequel though seeing as how there are 3!!

Hearing the same thing from EVERY guard, every peasant, even the begging chicks who I often stabbed so they left me alone (broad threw rocks at me first). Combat actually got better once you ranked up or else I'd have listed that as well. Even though it was a little predictable the story delivered like I wanted it to so that really has me psyched for the ending.

The game wasn't without its faults and even though I was expecting more, I still enjoyed the game.

Lair wasn't for me, but one of my friends loves it - it was either hit or miss. Doesn't change the fact that Halo does nothing new and is no more fun than counter-strike or UT back in 1999; at least they didn't overdo it with a retarded~ly cheesy story line.

Anyways...I wasn't THAT hype for Lair to begin with...I just saw the game as something that demoed the amount of detail and huge levels on the PS3 that take no shortcuts as far as showing the whole world..you can fly throughout the whole level and you can go everywhere, as well as a demo of how many controls the sixaxis can handle, and the only problem I had was lock on and the controller mistaking a 360 turn for a speed boost. Lair was a dragon game as I expected. I didn't know much more about it nor did I expect more. I didn't buy a PS3 for Lair. I bought it for innovative new IP's and some of the oldy but goody IP's.

I played Halo 2 like they were sending me a check every two weeks so Halo 3 was the biggest disappointment for me. It was not much different and unfortunately not much better than Halo 2. I'm not one of those people that believes the gameplay was already perfect and shouldnt have been changed. Halo 1 was changed and made better in Halo 2. I cant say the leap was that big in Halo 3.

So, Halo 3 is the biggest disappointment for me because that is the reason I got the 360 in the first place and to be so completely out shined by COD4 (except matchmaking) was a huge disappointment. I would have thought better of MS's flagship. Oh well...fortunately there were other games on the 360 I was able to enjoy.

Good point, DJ: Games can be disappointing (i.e., not living up to the hype) but still be good games. For example, Blue Dragon didn't turn out to be the Final Fantasy-type franchise that people seemed to be hyping it to be, but it's still a better-than-average game.

I enjoyed Halo 3, and love the online play (Forge is sweeeet), but it was a little overhyped. Still a quality game, though.

I remember when lair first came out people were complaining about the controls, its to difficult, its not responsive blah blah blah. When i played this game i was like dang the controls really are not that hard, its prob b/c i got used to the motion controller on the ps3 cuz i have a ps3. The only thing that was hard was doing a 180 w/your dragon but that becomes easy too overtime. If you havnt played this game than just shut up, you dont hear me saying sh*t about halo or other 360 games b/c i never played 'em. If you ask me people forgot how hard some of the old school games are b/c you really couldn't even save in those games or there weren't enough actions to do. Lair def. is a diff. game + its a genre that you don't see often on games and if you ask me thats a great thing. Give lair a try and then judge it, you might find out that you like this game despite all the negative feedback this game recieved from reviewers.

By DJ's own choice of words and logic, PlayStation 3 is the biggest dissapointment of 2007. Not saying that it sucks, far from it. It just didn't meet its expectations. There's potential not yet reached, and it sucks that PS3 owners have to wait for it. Although I'm sure many of you will be tided over with Uncharted until then, it still was not the commercial success that Halo3 was.

That level of success will come with MG4 and FF13.

(success is pretty much tied to fanboy devotion...so i guess that they're worth something afterall)

Halo 3.

I mean, it's Halo, which sucks by default and it's the third one.

I'm not a fanboy, my GOTY is Mass Effect, but Halo is just a generic sci-fi FPS and the sooner the fanboys get it through their head the sooner we can all move on to good gaming genres. Seriously, Halo isn't as revolutionary as you'd like to believe, it's all been done before.

Let's be honest, how many people really expected Lair to be good? I never heard anyone praising it, it was always "I'll wait for reviews".

Halo3 did not change much from H2 compared to huge leap gfx/sound/gameplay type which COD4 did from COD2. But again it wasn't disappointing at all. The campaign was quite enthralling and with coop it was even better.

Regarding Lair, it ws always in a top 10 list of all sony droids. They hyped it as a 360 killer, which cud sell million consoles alone. It was a showcase of the power of cell and bluray.

It was supposed to be the second comming of mario 64 but was worse then Sunshine....I beat the game and got all 120 stars in less then 7 hours its that easy sunshine is alot harder.

The only saving grace is playable luigi but only after you get all 120 stars..ect and all your doing is playing the same storyline, and same stars as mario but as luigi....

Put it this way, if you haven't played a game, then you have no business claiming it as the biggest disappointment of the year. 3rd person opinions /= a good means to JUDGE something.

Why not state what was the biggest disappointment from games you actually played?

For me it's Warhawk. Did nothing well IMO, the whole package was very average save for the birds themselves.

The constant Halo bashing gets to me sometimes. My biggest disappointment was Phantasy Star Universe. They ruined the game and added an online fee.

I bought Lair yesterday and i thoroughly enjoyed it. I can see why there is some disappointment.

The biggest disappointment is Halo 3. I totally agreed with the CeruleanSky's comment.

I can only respond on the games I've played (take note fanboys that bash a game even though you haven't played it)

My biggest disappointment this year was Dark Kingdom on the PS3 (this may have come out last year in the states, I'm unsure) It was an incredibly rushed game with a lot lacking especially when you compare it to last gens Champions of Norrath games. only 2 players? No weapons to pick up, very limited skill trees and an incredibly short story. It was rushed and the amount of fun I've had with this title (or lack thereof) shows.

To all those bashing Halo3 and Lair. I bet most of you haven't even played the games so your opinion is null and void.

Heavenly Sword and Lair.
Hyped up to the max, even sony fanboys told us to wait until the game hits. But mediocre/poor gameplay, short game length and no replay value ruined it.

Sales also prove it.
Lair was only "possible" on Ps3, yet it still turned out to be garbage.

...all those who hate on the Wii (as for game it would be Two Worlds- why I let myself get talked into buying that weak POS- a total waste of $60). We as gamers are getting older and Nintendo, as a company, is still focused on a family centric product that's both affordable and fun. They looked at what happened to Sega by trying to constantly outdo their competition and decided to go in another direction. Props to them I say- it's been said that they will lose a billion dollars because they can't meet demand for the Wii but they will still show a major profit for this year. Seriously, who wouldn't want their company to be that successful? The Wii is a kid friendly system (as opposed to being a 'kiddie' system) and Nintendo is raking in mucho dinero for their stockholders. That's what they are supposed to do and they're doing it damn well. Do I have a Wii- yes. Have I played it lately, despite having just bought SMG and MP:Corruption- no. Right now I'm working on my second playthru of Mass Effect, a great but flawed game (the flaws being substandard AI, repetitive interiors, a lack of true interaction with alien planets/cultures and too short combats). But to get back to the subject, my biggest disappointment for a game I was really looking forward to would be Bioshock- I love the game but allowing the player to win through attrition (apply damage, revive in Vita Chamber, repeat till victory) undercuts a strong, unique combat system that could have been better. Merry Christmas and bah humbug to all haters.

sorry MART but for me, the biggest disappointment in 2007 was Halo 3.

all the exclusive games for the ps3 are great and i think they are much better than anything else.

so the best thing in 2007 = the PS3s exclusive games.

have fun with your Xbox Live Arcade trash and a totally disappointing Halo 3 and Mass Effect - the first epic sci-fi shooter with less than 15fps ;-)

Halo 3, no question. Take out the save films and forge (which hardly anyone ever uses) and you have Halo 2, nothing more. COD4 is better in every way imaginable. There is just no comparison. COD4 make Halo 3 look like it was made by children.

The wii was the biggest disappointment of 2007. Don't get me wrong : I've been a Nintendo Fanboy since the NES / Gameboy era until the DS Lite era (included).

Unfortunately, the wii is just plain boring. I mean, I have one, and just don't feel like ever playing it.

Nothing compares to the fun I get with NHL 08 on xbox 360, Free network on ps3, all of those features for the right price.

For the price, the Wii is just plain BORING.

Halo 3 was more a dissapointment for me than Halo 2.

With the Xbox 360 RROD issues you get to wondering if Microsoft stepped in and said good enough get the game out there so we can keep pushing the console of shelves with the most over hyped game in history.

Wonder if the series flaws in the 360 weren't there then Halo 3 would probally still be in development so it could possibly have lived up to the hype.
