The Evil Within is the Resident Evil You've Been Waiting For |TGH

Vaughn writes on TheGamersHub:
"Since Resident Evil 4 there really hasn’t been a great action horror title on the market. Dead Space and it’s sequel certainly came close to recreating the atmosphere and mixing it with action successfully, but even that was missing something. In some ways, Dark Souls managed to create a rather perfect horror environment though the fear of losing progress against its grotesque creations. But, time and time again, Resident Evil 4 is held in high esteem as the title that got everything right. And, because of that, it seems that Shinji Mikami has managed to do it again with The Evil Within.

Ushered into a pitch-black room, illuminated only by the dull glows of PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 light bars and warm light of TV screens, I sat down in an enclosed booth to enjoy the solitary delights of scaring myself shitless on The Evil Within. For the purposes of Gamescom, and largely so we had no idea what was going on, the preview build dropped us in at the deep end of Chapter 9: The Cruelest Intentions."

can't wait for this. I feel like its going under the radar, but it looks amazing. PS4 exclusive isn't that right?

Starfox8113537d ago

It's on PS4, Xbox One and PC, not sure if it's timed exclusive or not though - I believe it's simultaneous launch though =]

PaleMoonDeath3538d ago

From what I've seen, it certainly isn't..

The more that get shown or revealed about this game I'm becoming less and less interested, here's hoping it turns out to be brilliant.

I can't wait to play this game, when the guy mentioned about the teleporting guy appearing at random to chase it does remind you Nemesis from RE3 which i loved because not knowing and always wondering where he's gonna pop up is nerve wracking within itself.

Plus if the appearances are truly random where the guy shows up and there no set places in the game where he appears everytime, then this will raise fear factor 100 fold because you'll always be looking out for him not to mention dealing with any other monsters you may have encountered to stay alive.

Starfox8113537d ago

I think he's random in specific levels/settings that adhere to where he exists (as TEW is set in various places). I believe other immortal foes also chase you through levels in certain areas too - so do something similar to Nemesis' persistent following in RE3, but in a different environment.

Akuma2K3536d ago

That's cool too....and yea with other creatures trying to hunt you down and chase you like crazy, our minds will be going in 8 million directions trying to not go crazy from the changing environments.

I hate resident evil.My first RE was RE6 and I almost vomited while playing it.

Starfox8113535d ago

Ah, that's because Resident Evil 6 was absolutely terrible. The RE series ended after RE4.

Okay, thanks,I'll try the better one next time.

Original FEAR is a goddamn masterpiece

ModsDoBetter352d ago

Was playing Alien: Isolation again a few weeks ago, still holds up and the AI is incredible.

F.E.A.R. was another amazing game, shame the series went downhill with 2 and then fell off entirely with F3AR.

Couldn’t get into Fatal Frame, bought the remaster on PS5 and just…couldn’t.

DeathTouch352d ago

Fatal Frame 2 is an underrated masterpiece.
