UK Charts - Dead Island Riptide is the New Number One

GodisaGeek: "It seems that the UK game buying public has spoken: Dead Island Riptide was the most popular game released last week, because as per usual, the best selling new game has taken the top spot in the UK charts.

Outselling Star Trek (3rd place), Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (doesn’t make the top 40), and the long awaited (in some cases) re-release of cult classic Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut (27th place), publisher Deep Silver will be pretty happy."

That,is how you know the majority is casuals buying, this awful game like the first one they should by far cry 3 instead.

Eyeco4008d ago

I'm gonna assume it's because there's nothing else to play, it's a shame that cr@p like this sells

kostchtchie_4008d ago

sorry but this is good solid fun game, and on PC the gaming community makes some good mods, take that hate and goes cry in your corner someplace

Statix4008d ago (Edited 4008d ago )

Good for the UK people, rewarding another crappy game.

Wasn't DmC number one on the UK charts as well? Guess being on top over there doesn't account for much.

Fil1014008d ago

So what if this game hit number 1 in the UK, what's your problem with that ???.

You attacking the UK for what game's we buy is stupid and basically make's you sound like a dick.

Good for them glad they buy whatever games they want over there XD. I got it myself its not to bad for mind numbing slaughtering of Zombies. Sure it has some problems but it is a pretty decent game. Playing alone is not so much fun but when you get friends together it can be very entertaining.

@StraightPath and Statix

A lot of people have found this game to be really fun to play so get over yourselves its not like people are forcing you to come in here and talk about the game.

felidae4008d ago

nice. i will get this game.

after the controversial Defiance reviews i no longer trust some reviewers opinion. defiance is a fantastic game, so maybe dead island riptide is great, too.

L-a-i-n4008d ago

I really enjoyed Defiance as well. Was it the best game ever.. No.. But it is very fun to play just like Riptide is I recommend co-op it is a lot more enjoyable.

R_aVe_N4008d ago (Edited 4008d ago )

Yeah I would have to agree Defiance was a good game if you ask me I really like it.

bubbles for not following the crowd mate lol

I really enjoyed the first DI, I got it on release day and I have to say, it was like playing Borderlands, but with zombies and mainly melee weapons. It was quite heart pounding in some parts, outside was fine because it was bright and you could easily outrun anything pretty quickly, but inside buildings was weird. Just being isolated in narrow corridors, etc.

I didn't get DI:R though, it's on my list to get at some point, but I just have been busy with other games. I bought Deus Ex:HR a few weeks ago and have been concentrating on that. I've put a lot of hours into it so far, along with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and a bit of Monopoly Streets, I just didn't see the point in buying another game to put these games on hold.

I will get it eventually, it will probably drop in price by the time I do decide to get it.

Yes yes I'm down to play this so badly.

anast193d ago

Oh, f$%&! They better not mess this up. Trek is miles better than any other Sci-fi franchise.

JackBNimble193d ago

I agree, at the same time no one can seem to make a decent StarTrek game.

I'm with you ... they better not fk this up

Solitariussaint193d ago

Keep up the good work!

They listened and made a physical version of Star Trek Resurgence, which I've pre-ordered, and I hope they make this new game both offline friendly and physical as well!

Icey7192d ago

Immediate reaction - excited for new story driven Star Trek game.

Then I go and check GameXcite's website and see that the only thing they have released are a few Asterix games.

Set expectation to low

This is very cool. I played many versions of Super Star Trek, some text based and some with rudimentary graphics. Back in the day, you’d get games like this off a floppy disk from a friend. I also played the 25th Anniversary Star Trek game. Cool to see a melding of the two.

This fan remake of a Star Trek text game from 1978 is way better than it has any right to be

Super Star Trek 25th is a remake / conversion of the strategy game Super Star Trek, written by Bob Leedom and David Ahl and published in the book BASIC Computer Games in 1978, mixed with the graphics of Star Trek: 25th Anniversary and the voices from ST The Original Series
