Monolith Soft's upcoming Wii U JRPG might not have a title just yet, but based on the game's mech-filled trailer, it's undoubtedly a new entry in the Xeno franchise. There's no word yet on any sort of release date, and we're hoping we won't have to fight to see a Western release as we did for Xenoblade Chronicles.
So, what do we know about the unnamed game? Well, lots of things, actually, the most important of them being that it might be an MMO. After rewatching the trailer several times, GamesRadar has highlighted every last interesting detail they could find. Here's what they have come up with...
Xenoblade Chronicles composer Kenji Hiramatsu reflects on his work and feels that it's "time for a fresh start."
Tetsuya Takahashi has revealed his plan to make the next Xenoblade vastly different from previous games.
I liked the Xenoblade X formula. It takes awhile, but opening up Mechs was amazing. Especially once you can fly them, and use them in battle. You have to put some time into the game to do it, but it's worth it!
Also, the graphics were more realistic than the other games. Still looks good today, just a lot more pop-in than is acceptable today, hell even too much for back then. It wasn't game breaking though.
Xenoblade 1-3 and X are so great. That said, I'm ready for them to do a big change up.
Monolith Soft, the studio that worked on Xenoblade and Breath of the Wild, also helped to develop The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
No surprise there. They helped out in BOTW as well. Monolith Soft is one of Nintendo's hardest working studios. When they aren't making their own games they help other Nintendo studios with their games.
Still one of the best and most underrated map designers in the industry. Always loved their environments even back on Xenoblade Chronicles X
An MMO...?
Well, as long as it can be played off line, doesn't require a subscription.
That was a great breakdown analysis. There was quite alot going on in the video and some stuff I missed, like the aerial attacks and the Mech name "Doll". I cant wait, this game is going to be really amazing. Now all we need is to find out what Retro and Mistwalker are working on and the hype train will be in full effect.
"Everything we know about Monolith Soft's Wii U JRPG"
It looks friggin amazing!!!.
Seriously though we know very little atm, but I think we can all agree if its anything like Xenoblade chronicles it's going to be awesome.
Looks more like Monster Hunter than an MMO to me. Hopefully its the former because i dont think that people want an MMO thats plagued with micro transactions or subscription fees.
Whats impressive about the video is the draw distance i never seen anything like that on the last generation of consoles.
i knew i recgonized the style of music on the trailer
hiroyuki sawano made the OST of team medical dragon, which is awesome!
