Nintendo Life: Mass Effect 3 Review

Nintendo Life: Wii U had a rock solid line-up of launch titles to accompany it last year. From Grade-A third party franchises such as Assassin’s Creed through to Mario, a classic staple in the Nintendo canon. Oddly enough, more than a few of these launch games were sequels, or even third games in series’ that have already been around for some time now, just not on a Nintendo platform. Mass Effect 3: Special Edition, as the numbered titles implies, is no stranger to this phenomenon, but that doesn’t stop it from being an absolute powerhouse, and one of the console’s best games to date.

I bought this game and It's a great port on wiiu , works just like 360 version. BUT has some really nice unique features.

- Off screen play (always nice
- Touch screen squad commands on touch screen map (something every mass effect game could benefit from and deepens the experience for sure
- The sound comes out the gamepad and the TV at the same time. Like only your gun noises and footsteps come out of the gamepad speakers , gives a really cool immersive sound effect
- Some DLC included , etc.

It's perfect for what it is , but obviously the trilogy is available for the same price.

By far the worst game in the trilogy and nowhere near a 9/10.

Because of the ending? I thought ME3 (mind you I got the 360 version) was really good gameplay and story wise. I just found the ending to be inconclusive. Other than that I thought it was a really good game.

@Kingofwiiu

Well, I wouldn't necessarily call it "flawless" IMO. It shares a few issues from the first two. Controls can be off, there are minor glitches and the character animations can be a little awkward. But other than that I liked the story and I thought it was really fun to play. I never really understood any of the hatred it received.

Indeed. Apart from the somewhat confusing ending , it's a pretty flawless game.

Nah, it's not just because of the ending.

- Bland gameplay
- Repetitive combat
- Uninteresting new characters (James Vega and Diana Allers)
- Half-arsed side missions
- Lack of important decisions
- No consequences for decisions made in the first 2 games
- Watered-down RPG elements
- The half-arsed missions that take place on Earth
- The ending

EDIT: Not sure why my first comment is getting disagrees. Are you saying that Mass Effect 3 is the best game in the trilogy and deserves a 9/10? If ME3 is not as good as the first two games, surely it deserves a lower score them ME1 and ME2? Although just how much lower that score should be is debatable of course...

@aPerson

I disagreed because I didn't really agree with your comment. No malice, just using that button properly lol.

To be frank I thought Mass Effect 3 was in the 8 or 9 range, but I understand why someone may love or hate it more than that. I thought it more than lived up to the first two, especially with the multiplayer.

To each their own, as they say.

I played the trilogy, and I liked ME3 much, much more than ME2. Not sure yet how it actually compares with ME1, though, I need to replay ME3 to be sure.

To each their own, I guess.

ME3 online multiplayer gives it an edge.It's like RE mercenaries mode ME style and with certain objectives ( can be out right hard without good players)

online mp on gamepad in bed with headphones on while the wife is sleeping beside me.. priceless.

the score is just right.
