Forget Sing Party, Wii Karaoke U Has Over 90,000 Songs

Sing Party, one of the Wii U launch titles, has an odd mix of oldies and “Call Me Maybe.” Japan clearly has the superior karaoke program since Wii Karaoke U gives players access to over 90,000 songs.

Wii Karaoke U app brings pay-by-hour harmonies to Europe in 2013

Nintendo of Europe announced this year's upcoming release of Wii Karaoke U by Joysound, a downloadable karaoke streaming service for the Wii U console.

Originally released as a WiiUWare launch title in Japan, Wii Karaoke U offers unlimited, all-access streaming during time-limited sessions. Players can opt to purchase playtime in one-hour, one-day, or month-long chunks, depending on how large a party you're hosting and how many times your friends want to sing the Evangelion theme song in a single night.

I want this soooooooooooooooooo bad!!!!

PopRocks3593943d ago

Hmm. A F2P karaoke game on Wii U. I'm not entirely against this idea. I wonder what the song library will be.

stragomccloud3943d ago

If it's like the other Japanese versions, it has the entire joysound library which has tons of Japanese, English, and Korean songs. Sometimes Chinese songs too. The base game includes a small track list of about 50 or so; however, you can pay for a night for maybe $10, or a few months for $20. It's a really great price, because when I go to karaoke boxes here in America, my friends and I end up spending 10-20 each for just one night. Not even including the cost of drinks and such.

Lol this is going to be so bad, better not spill any alcohol on the wii u

I once had to retire a Wii remote because I or one of my friends spilled beer and it got inside the controller.

T.M.Revolution Sings “Memeshikute” for Wii U Karaoke Commercial

To promote the Wii U Karaoke, a collaboration game between Nintendo and Joysound, they have roped in one of Japan's favorite anisong singers T.M. Revolution.

In the commercial, which can also be seen on the official site, he sings “Golden Bomber’s “Memeshikute”, which is a very popular song and was performed during last year’s Kouhaku. Its pretty funny at the end because it seems like TMR isn’t happy with the results.

Is the Nintendo Wii U what the Wii should have been from the start?

With the launch of the Wii U, Nintendo finally ventured into HD gaming. This is something the PS 3 and Xbox 360 have been doing for a very long time now. The Nintendo Wii was not capable of full HD gaming when it came out so it was left behind as the other consoles gained more ground in the console HD gaming race. But, now that the Wii U has launched with the ability to do this right out of the box is it too late to the party? I hope not.

back in 2007 wiiu would have cost a fortune. probably £800 and more.

great idea.

bigfish4153d ago

The PS3 is what the Wii Should have been.

Danlord4153d ago

Thepcz- thanks for the compliment. Just thought i should drop an article on that. To all those who will comment on this. Pls let's keep it modest. No name calling and insults plzzzzzz! We are all friends here ;-)

being a cat hater, this guy fails in life, and not just a console launch

Deku-Johnny4153d ago

No it's not, the Wii was a fantastic console. Yeah the graphics may not have been as pretty as the other consoles that generation but it had some really great games and some developers when they really put in the effort made games with great graphics such as Metroid Prime. Yes the best games were 1st party that was because most developers are too lazy to make a great game for a console that they'd have to put some effort into. The Wii was what the Wii should have been and the Wii U is what the Wii U should be.

the wiiu simply wouldn't have nor could have existed in 2006/7.

in 2007, tablet pcs looked like this- http://cache.gizmodo.com/as...

and apple didnt release the first i pad until 2010.

the wiiu incorporates elements of the tablets success, so unless nintendo had a time machine, they wouldn't have ever made a wiiu in 2006/7.

ie, the wiiu is a modern gaming machine influenced by the modern day. the world was different in 2006/7, tablet devices weren't as popular, and the 'ipad' template of what a tablet looks like today, simply wasn't around.

so wiiu in 2007 is simply a fantasy. hollywood stuff.

plus, there has been an evolution in gaming- nintendo ushered in the new era of gaming with the wiis motion control. ps3/360 fans quickly rubbished it but what happened? move and kinekt.

with ps4 and 720, these methods of control will be standard. so the wii was ahead of the game.

so although it may seem as if the wii was not pushing any boundaries, it in fact was, but it takes one step at a time. same with wiiu.

tablet like controllers WILL be the new standard in gaming. you cant have motion control, tablet controllers with cameras, high end graphics, and cutting edge specs all at once, it would cost a fortune.

thats why nintendo offers these innovations 'modestly,' when the price of tech comes down, then you will get the high end graphics to match the high end control method.

as i said in my previous reply, wiiu in 2007 would have cost the earth, and frankly, it would have been from the future

" the wiiu incorporates elements of the tablets success, so unless nintendo had a time machine, they wouldn't have ever made a wiiu in 2006/7. "

You're forgetting the NDS.... which is from 2004

@Thepcz
Well said and I fully agree with you. Too many gamers think illogically when it comes to their favorite console and their hate for another. Logically the Wii U could not have been realized in 2006-07.

jmc88884152d ago

Totally agree, it only fits the 'what wii should have been' if you consider the HD nature of the Wii U.

All the other stuff is clearly far ahead of what last generation was.
