Microsoft’s Smartglass is Great (And I Don’t Even Use it For Games)

Kotaku - When Microsoft first announced its Smartglass technology at E3, I figured it would end up like the console's video marketplace, or Facebook application. A neat idea for the guys in marketing, but wholly uninteresting for the average user.

A few weeks in and I'm glad I've been proven wrong.

I've got the app installed on my Windows 8 PC, my iPad and HTC One XL, and while the phone version works well enough, it's on the tablet that the application really shines (the PC version would be great on a laptop, I guess, but on my desktop it's kinda useless).

So far it seems like the Wii U does something similar. Play Youtube videos on the TV while you browse through other pages on the gamepad.

Depending on what Nintendo does in the future, but I think SmartGlass already extends far beyond what Nintendo does.

Of course Nintendo has one benefit which is it is standard on all consoles sold and the fact that it has more games built "more" around the Wii tablet controller.

True dat. Will be intresting to see what MS does with this on the 720 since its been getting positve feed back.

The rumored Valve 360 controller tablet is starting to look very possible right now.

I use Splashtop to access my PC from my tablet every day. Them calling it "magic" insults me. Splashtop is free for Wifi use.

i saw the video a while ago so i don't recall when they used the word "magic".

Based on a assumption I think that word is geared towards a more family oriented mindset, or of those who are not actively aware of similar technology. therefore they may deem what is presented in this video "magical" or new.

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.

Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.
