Even if you split that year on year, the 360 still wins!

This is important! PS3 developers got the final dev kit's 3 months before launch. The 360 developers only got final dev kit's 2 months before launch. Yet 360 games had better graphics, framerate etc etc from day one.

It's a bigger issue than you think because the initial PS3 dev kits arrived in developers hands before the 360 launched. PS3 developers have had at least an extra 14 months with PS3 hardware/software tools. Something that should have been a clear advantage in PS3's favour. Yet 2 years after the Ps3's launch, developers have nothing to show for it.

Even Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2 with 4 years production fail to impress. When you consider how much time, money, people and effort went into their development.

Consider what Epic did with Gears of War. It took them less than 2 years and $10m to make, with only 20 to 30 people involved with the development at any time. Not only is it a huge critical/commercial success. It is one of many games that make up the 360's library of 90+ on Metacritic.

I've heard this for 2007, I've heard this for 2008. The fact is just this: the 360 is a full year ahead in hardware sales, software production and total knowledge of the machine. That advantage will stay through the life cycle. THey always know the 360 hardware better then the PS3. Think about that. Catching up with 6 to 8 mln. units in advance is hard, even if it keeps outselling the 360 with thousands a month. It needs to sell a million a month extra to catch up within a year. It needs to sell 500k extra to catch up within two years. Won't happen.

Sorry dude. Sony lost because of hardware and software delays (and Home also)

Actually, game reviews are one of the single most important factors when it comes to a games success. No one in their right mind would try to argue against that.

Also, what does the 360 coming out a year earlier have to do with someones decision on whether or not they want a console? If someone wants the current generation console with the most high quality titles, then the 360 is the console to buy. That's a fact, not a diluted fanboy fantasy that that first year somehow doesn't count.

When you dig through some of the junk (Bioshock/Orange Box/ Guitar Hero 2 can't be considered exclusives), and keep in mind that 88+ is still pretty good, it really comes down to...

MS--> Gears/Mass Effect/Halo/Dead Rising/Forza vs.

Sony --> MGS/Resistance/Uncharted/ Ratchet/GT 5 vs.

Nintendo --> Mario/Link/Samus/Smash/Zak and Wiki

The exclusives don't really sway as much to one side as the chart makes it seem. By all means, the 360 does have more games, more above average games too, but its not a 5 to 5 to 12 situation.

A better use would be a Venn diagram to show that there is correlation between a system having good games, and that each system that has good games is shown on a venn diagram by overlap of circles. Step two - draw the largest part of the circle to represent your system
Step three - make it look like you know what oyure talking about by showing it to other

If I remember correctly, they were supposed to launch around the same time. But the PS3 kept getting delayed.

And when the Developers finally got the PS3 Dev-kits, all the manuals were written in Japanese, so a few things were lost in translation, after they finally got someone to translate it for them.

Point is, this is Sony's fault. They underestimated Nintendo and MS, and are now trying to catch up.

HALO is an excelent example of a mediocre game that got great reviews. The gameplay is terrible and heres why: when you jump its like you are floating around, the weapons are not that great and were copied almost exactically by HAZE and it takes far too many shots to kill those aliens. Lets not forget how rediculously stupid the driving controls are aswell.

The graphics are ok, nothing special and the alien character models are way too childlike, they look like they're straight out of a coloring book.

Heres my point, HALO is one of the XBOX 360's top rated games and it is nothing more than an average shooter. Microsoft buys reveiews, and thats why HALO won the award for "Best Game Powered By Dew" on the Spike TV video games awards. Microsoft sponsord that whole show and it PAYED off in the end.

XBOX 360 users have been had. Honestly you guys, you should try some PS3 exclusive games and then pass judgement.

My uncle worked at EA well before 360 came out and PS3 and he told me that they had the dev kit way before the 360 came out but the PS was right about 2months before it really came out. He was telling me that the 360 kit was just like here you go from MS with the PS3 they had to sign agreements with sony about not giving any info out until the system releases. It matters to them because they have a very boring life and the most excitement is an arguement about which system will "win" this "war". I say time and time again, each system has its great games, good games, and garbage games, bottom line. That's it. One system's great game is not better than another system's great game just because of the system is on (I know, fan boys use this as a basis for their arguement). It ONLY matters to the multi-million dollar investors and the developing companies how many games and units of a particular system sell. Oh yeah sales numbers are not evidence for a better console. So by your logic, the 360 should be flying off the shelves... But 360 hardware sales have been in a slowdown since launch... The "Halo Effect" didn't last as long as expected, and GTA4 didn't bring the up-tick in hardware sales that were expected...

Microsoft has been losing first party developers (Bungie, BioWare, and Bizarre Creations), and only has one heavy hitter left (Rare).

Not to mention, other than the Final Fantasy XIII announcement (which won't hit NA or EU until 2010) at E3, what did Microsoft have to show? A casual gaming focus? Release dates for games we already knew about? Not to mention the slap to Bungie's face not showing their new title at E3 as originally planned...

Sony has already announced their lineup into 2009, with more to come with the two big shows coming up. Microsoft has not shown or talked about much, which is a change from past E3's (remember all of the E3 hype over Halo 3, and Gears of War back in 2006? Not to mention all of the Alan Wake hype since 2005)

Seems to me that the 360 is slowing down... With the NPD hardware sales to prove it...

I do recall the PS3 being 5 million units behind the 360, which means they're at 14 million and they reached that number much faster than the 360. I highly doubt people only bought the PS3 for bluray. The 360 may have more games but a lot of them are crap titles, according to that pie chart there.

Who goes to Metacritic? I go to the sites I trust like IGN and Game infomer. Go to IGN and type in the PS3 exclusives and see nothing but AAA scores.

360 is irrelevant in the industry right now. There is actual competition now, it's getting scary for 360. Don Mattrick looks like a wanker. He knows 360 is going to hell after this fire sale is over, and is ready to bring the bot minions with him.

What is so great about old ass 2005, 2006 games? Most of those games didn't even look next gen. Don is pathetic, PS3 is sweeping E3, while 360 owners are using their devilish executives to feel validated. You guys need to chug that garbage out of the window. No one I know with a 360 bought all those garbage games.

Anyone with sense knows the games most PS3, 360, or Wii owners actually have in their homes. Leave that other bull at the store.

It shouldn't matter if the PS3 came out a year before the 360 or not.. The PS3 is supposed to be "The Console To Own" right? Aren't the PS2 owners supposed to be jumping ship to the PS3?

What I am saying is.. If the PS3 is what everyone makes it out to be, it should have already had more units sold, than the 360 AND Wii.

The 360 is two years old, and the PS3 is a year and a half old. The 360 has the bigger install base because Microsoft was so quick to rush their console out the market. The only reason why Microsoft is bragging about their lead is because they're only holding on to the United States? Can you say that they maintain a lead in Japan? In Europe? Not that many, especially when most hardcore 360 owners will be waiting for Gears 2. The Japanese won't even buy 360's you moron!

Yes, and the 360 has the second largest pile of games that aren't so good while the PS3 only has a few titles that weren't so good. Just because Microsoft has a huge pile of games, doesn't mean all of them were good to begin with.
