Haze Beats Conan

Despite the unenthusiastic and often mediocre reviews and scores given to Haze, according to Develop, the game developers news site, Haze has come in as a new entry at number 12,just under Rock Band, the highest climber. It even beat the mighty Age of Conan which has come in as a new entry at number 13.

Now that's not bad for a game with overall below average mixed reviews. Perhaps this is another indicator of reviewers being out of touch with what gamers in the real world get their kicks from.

I had a good time playing the co-op. The Online play is slower than most so it would actually appeal to gamers who don't have finely honed reaction times.

I'm still torn between which faction I prefer to be between mantel and promise hand.

My friend asked me to buy it.

But I said I didn't wnat to waste my money, so we just replayed the demo tons of times.

Not fun for me or him, but he enjoyed what he did play, and he compared it to Halo 3. To be fair they are very simialr.

3 - because despite what a few sites said
Haze was not a terrible game. Granted it wasn't great and certainly not a halo beater but it was fun.its problem was people built it up and hyped it too much so unless it was extraordinary it was always gonna be marked down.

3.1 - Agreed
The game was not all that bad and I would say that the only reason people dissed the game as bad as they did was due to their own broken hearts. They thought they were getting something revolutionary and they got a decent shooter. It is just that, a decent shooter, not something revolutionary. I liked it but rented it, sent it back and will move on to another game... Say something like... MGS4! lol

4 - "BEAT Conan"
...so what? I don't understand what the two titles really have to do with one another... The title could just as easily been "Sims2/IronMan/WiiFit/etc beats Conan: oh and Haze"

so whoopdeedoo...

I played it, and it is truly horrible. I actually could see how the concept of how the drug was altering their perspective could have made for a great game, and story, but the team failed in every aspect. Everything was outdated, the levels layouts were extremely confusing, the dialogue was too much to bare, poor unrefined graphics, glitches all over the place, static environments, bad AI, shotty aiming. Basically everything felt disorientating so the name fits quite well.

It felt like I was playing an N64 game, and a poor one at that. Now I'm not at all one of those nostalgic gamers who likes to relive the past, and play old games, but honestly I would rather play Goldeneye 64 than this garbage.

5.1 - Not sure why you got a disagree because your spot on...
Its not about trashing a PS3 exclusive like some say... I was excited for the game after the trailers and previews so I gameflyed it.

Terrible for all the reasons you listed. I agree. I'd rather play 12 year old Goldeneye on N64 than Haze.

I know some people say its an alright game and their entitled to their opinion but I'd have to say those people have really low standards or are starving for a FPS.

I beat it, just "Don't tell my mother"

I swear the developers didnt hire voice actors or writers for this game, they just did it all themselves.

If they were British accents I'd agree.

Maybe they put on American accents, and that's why it's so terrible.

Anyway, I agree the game was a superb idea, but it's execution was by no means good. I am glad I didn't buy it.

5.4 - I bought it....
I'm still playing it at the moment. I'll reserve my final judgement on Haze until I finish it but so far it hasn't lived up to any of Free Radicals previous games. I would even go as far as to say that it doesn't even have a Free Radical feel to it. Very sparse with the weapons too. There is such an unfinished feel to it.

I thought the vehicles and driving were very badly done.

I'm not surprised that it sold the numbers it did. I and many others would have bought this game purely on Free Radicals rep.

I just picked up Haze for $40 @ my local best buy yesterday. Not a bad game alot better than all the Rainbow 6's, and Ghost Recons Ubisoft has ever put out. Overall the game is good nothing special that sets apart from other FPS but good game to play until Thursday.

Your joking right. I would rather go and play the first Ghost Recon than play Haze again. But then military shooters like GR, RS, Socom and, COD are my favorite.

12 - i bought Haze day one
and i beat it this weekend.

contrary to popular belief, i had a good time with the title.

the missions got pretty intense about halfway through the game, and while the ending is a bit "meh," overall, it was an enjoyable experience for me.

i don't think i'll be going back to it, but i had fun with it.

that's all that matters to me.

if the reviewers didn't like the game, that's their opinion, but mine is that the game was a good time while it lasted, even if it did start off a bit slow.

if i had to attached a score to it, i'd give it a 7.5/10, an 8 at the highest. it doesn't deserve the hate that it gets, but to each his own.

It doesn't say anything about pc gaming. If you could actually afford to game on a decent pc you wouldn't want to play on a console.

I built a nice gaming rig but still also bought a 360, PS3 and wii. The consoles get games that pc's just don't. Sometimes they do but months later too.

Haze is a rental IMO. Or bargin bin buy.

14 - Conan is also a PC game
Not all retail outlets are tracked by the NPD as well as online sales. Console titles routinely outsell PC so this isn't a surprise at all. Not a good comparison. We will see what happens when MGS4 comes out. Haze might not sell a single copy more after the bomb drops.
