Ubi: SC Conviction will be 'worth the wait'

Ubisoft has told fans that Splinter Cell: Conviction, recently delayed from this year to next year, "will be a better game in February than any time earlier".

Speaking to VideoGamer.com earlier this week following a screening of Assassin's Creed: Lineage, the short film produced by Ubisoft to coincide with the launch of Assassin's Creed 2, Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto chief Yannis Mallat, said Conviction's delay was about adding polish.

"The level of polish that we are achieving as we speak is definitely worth the wait. You know Ubisoft is committed to quality. We apply that to all our games. Splinter Cell is not excluded from that."

I don't think i'm going to play my 360 until this game comes out. I'd be piss if it comes to PS3 because then there would be no reason why I own a 360. Right now I'm using the 360 as a movie player cause it plays DIVX better than it does on PS3.

it was something like 'back to drawing boards/scratch' kinda thing, right? and by the time of release, it will already be 2 years since the delay. mediocre/average won't cut it anymore! plus, 360 fans are clinging to this title as a worthy exclusive for a while (although it will be available also on PC) - good looking one!

@3, stop it just stop. PS3 exclusives usually have higher quality visually but in terms of gameplay and immersion it barely matter if it's multiplat or not.

I am still on edge about this game, I wasn't too happy with most of Ubi's games.

But it's a real shame how much the fan boys care about the word "exclusive." They seem to have forgotten the word "fun." Both systems offer tons of the latter. I couldn't care less how SC compares to Uncharted. Different games.

They all turned out really well in my and many other peoples eyes, POP had great gameplay and an incredible ending, AC looked amazing and played great but need a bit more verity and Farcry 2 is one of the best looking games on any system and one of the only true sandbox games available

Sorry to spam this (I posted this before) but since Ubi is a located in Toronto, I thought it could possibly be about this game (although I believe Ubi Montreal is handling this isn't it?)

I was on the train yesterday and overheard 2 developers discussing some problems they are having with a publisher of the 'big' game they are developing.

They were careful not to mention the title and were trying to speak quietly, but what I did pick up is that 'they have to drop the multiplayer' due to the publisher pushing for a '9 month turnaround'.

They were also arguing with the publisher about the need for a main story co-op and were criticizing a lot of games that didn't have it (Resistance 2 being one of them- not to mention criticizing the story as well). They continued to complain that the publisher has changed the entire focus of the game in the past, and stressing about the 9 month turnaround given to do so.

Also, I heard one mention a 'vortex' graphic for the death screen (although he may have been talking about his past work experience on a game.) They also criticized the 'Japanese love of muted colors', but again, this may have been in regards to past experiences with publishers.

Finally, They concluded the publisher 'just promised too much' and one said to the other 'just put yourself on autopilot for the next 9 months and think about the next game'; suggesting these problems were going to hurt the final game enough that it will probably flop.

Anyways, thats it. I am hoping some of you on here that know a whole lot more than I do, can put on your detective caps and see if there is anything here of substance.

Very few? hahaha nice one their. I got a 360 too and even I can admit that multiplats differences are marginal. Multiplats are also on ps3 and the exclusives set the consoles apart.
