5 most anticipated Xbox 360 exclusives in 2010

VGarabia: 2009 hasn't been the best year for Xbox 360 owners. The quantity and the quality of the Xbox 360 exclusives hasn't been like what we have seen in the past few years. But all that could change next year; as 2010 is looking very promising for Xbox 360 owners.

Microsoft could announce more exclusives in the upcoming months for Xbox 360. But here, I will not talk about unannounced or rumored games, instead of that I will list the games that are guaranteed or most likely to hit in 2010.

Haha.

3 and 2 are multiplatform, and #1 will be on PC when Microsoft stop being pricks.

They are exclusives, which you can't play on ps3. I will not upgrade my pc and pay hundred of dollars just to play 2 or 3 games.

@hardcore1912
look at panda
he doesn't have a PS3 or a 360
yet he can play it

i really don't believe in the term " console exclusive " in what ever console it was

because exclusive means you can only find it in one place
but PC + 360 = 2

anyway
good list

1.12 - Exclusive
1 a : excluding or having power to exclude b : limiting or limited to possession, control, or use by a single individual or group
2 a : excluding others from participation b : snobbishly aloof
3 a : accepting or soliciting only a socially restricted patronage (as of the upper class) b : stylish, fashionable c : restricted in distribution, use, or appeal because of expense
4 a : single, sole <exclusive jurisdiction> b : whole, undivided <his exclusive attention>
— ex·clu·sive·ly adverb
— ex·clu·sive·nes s noun

Those games are exclusive to the 360 in the console market and exclusive to MSFT, you can spin the context if you wan't that doesn't mean MSFT is competing with Windows games. These games being on MSFT's other platform still makes these games exclusive.

Your spin makes about as much sense as making an issue over PS3 games on the PSP.

Most of these games are coming in early 2010 so there is no point speculating, bashing or making lists when MSFT doesn't even announce their line-ep and dates until around E3.

1.13 - If it's on two platforms
It is multiplatform. That's all there is to it.

Just because Microsoft makes the 360 and produces Windows does not mean it is exclusive. It is exclusive to Microsoft platforms, but that's still a plural term, and as such it is multiplatform.

If the same game is on the PS3 and PSP, it is multiplatform. Dead Rising is a slightly different case, as the 360 version is much better than the Wii version. It could be classed as multiplatform, but it also could be argued that the 360 version is so much better that it's almost another game entirely.

Make sure you're certain about who's spinning what.

"They are exclusives, which you can't play on ps3."

By that logic, Fallout 3 is exclusive to PS3, since you can't play it on the wii. Just because you can't run Mass Effect 2 on your PC doesn't mean other people can't.

Doesn't excite me very much. I have a Xbox 360 that is getting very little use these days, and I have a PC that will run the games that are also available for PC. Halo is so over hyped and shoved in your face, that I am just plain tired of it. Crackdown was not that great, Mass Effect was OK but was not a Tripple A game by no means, that leaves Alan Wake which I know very little about except that the graphics look pretty good.

1.20 - the funny thing about this is...
360 fanboys will start playing the "exclusive card" again and say how the 360 will have great exclusives and so on and totally forgot the time when they say "superior multiplats" than PS3 is what matters while the PS3 is enjoying the slew of great exclusives for the whole year!

1.21 - The problem with people not respecting the console exclusive argument is that.......
you can't be selective about what is considered as factors when you compare. Basically if games on pc are represented as a factor that makes the 360 not have exclusives you then have to concede to add the total sales of a game from the pc end and the 360 end. Also you have to conced that the MS game studios are making graphically superior titles (we dont use the graphics the the PSP has when it does remote play so why cant the PC be considered the standard form of a game).

Me personally I consider the console experience, and PC isnt the same thing so console exclusive is a perfect argument for me.

1.22 - Amused at PS3 owners using PC Ports as a negative
Having a game available on the 360 AND PC is a positive for Microsoft. Whilst people can argue semantics about what "exclusive" means, Microsoft is simply opening up more revenue streams and making more money which, ultimately, can enable further support and development for Microsoft Studios.

In fact, you could infer that by allowing PC games to play Halo etc, Microsoft does not view the PC market as a competitor to the Xbox 360. Therefore I'd agree that you can use the label "console exclusive". I for one only have a laptop, not a gaming PC, and see PC gaming as a completely different entity.

As defined by the interwebs:
"In the consumer gaming market, mutliplatform games run on more than one gaming machine. For example, a sports game developed for Xbox, Playstation, GameCube, and PC would be a multiplatform game. If a game is developed exclusively for one system, i.e. "The Legend of Zelda," for Nintendo, it is not multiplatform. Gaming hardware manufacturers use exclusive software as a reason for consumers to buy their system."...

So what would the intention of a console/pc "exclusivity" be? Its not to define a system, nor does it ensure a reason for consumers to buy a specific system, since its available on multiple platforms (hence the word multi-platform). So why would you not focus on releasing games on all systems, and why would you pay heavy money to keep a game off of the other systems, while still keeping the system/pc combo? It doesn't add up.

And what about games that works with consoles and PC gamers together?

Games that feature cross-platform online play include:

* DC Universe Online (future release)
* Kane and Lynch Dead Men
* Champions Online
* Lost Planet: Colonies
* Phantasy Star Online
* Shadowrun
* Uno
* Final Fantasy XI Online

How can console/pc be exclusive when both platforms interact with each other? And these are not Crysis type games or whatever, everyone with a computer can play UNO.

Another definition:
Cross-platform (Multi platform)
Cross platform is a term which can refer to computer programs, operating systems, computer languages, programming languages, or other computer software and their implementations which can be made to work on multiple computer platforms.

Notice that the above text says "made to work on multiple computer platforms" - so you can not argue that is exclusive because PC isn't a true gaming platform. The Game is "made to work on multiple computer platforms".. i.e the PC. And if it works on multiple computer platforms, it's defined as what people? Multi platform! That's right.

ALSO
If you’re holding onto the hope that a game is an exclusive because MS profits from each copy sold on PC your just Delusional.

So what if a game is running under windows, Guess what MS don't make a dime from PC games(unless they publish and created it). There are no licensing fees to release games on PC and this is a FACT.(there is a reason why PC games are cheaper) If this was true then EVERY program EVERY code EVERY software written for windows would have to pay a licensing fee to MS.

1.27 - Looks like mebob (1.26)
laid it down for those confused or who like to spin subjects. The PC is a gaming platform and thus a game that is playable on any two systems is "multi-platform".

So technically, (and by my understanding/ standards) SC: Conviction & Mass Effect 2 aren't exclusive. In addition, this in no way detracts from the great existing/ upcoming library of the 360!

---

I want a PC so bad though lol. Until then, I'll be getting all these games on 360. I wonder if Alan Wake will make its way to PC...

1.30 - So let me get this streight...
if person a owns a ps3 and a pc, but not an xbox 360, and the game is available for the pc and xbox 360, then in some peoples opinions the game is exclusive to the xbox 360, and obviously makes it the console of choice? Maybe I'm a little confused here, but if a person can play it on their PC, doesn't that mean they can avoid having to purchase an xbox to play said game? I was always under the impression that the purpose of exclusivity was to create the desire for some one to own a given console because they have no route to play the game otherwise and thus loose out on the experience. If this is the case, then some of the games mentioned don't fit into my understanding of the definition; however, if this is not the case, then I'm not really seeing the point of bragging about it being exclusive to a console. Could some one please help clarify why console exclusivity matters in this case?

1.32 - @ mebob
I can't entirely agree with that conclusion, because if I could only own an xbox360, ps3 or a PC then the title existing on the xbox 360 does give it another piece of software that the ps3 doesn't have. Thus if an individual could only choose one system, then perhaps that is the best choice for some one that wants to play that game; however, it still doesn't mean that an individual has to own an xbox 360 if they want to play the game. If a person owns a PC and a PS3, then the person does not have to purchase a 360 if they want to enjoy the game, thus why I'm still confused why console exclusivity matters if it's also available on the PC? As I stated before, my understanding of exclusivity was to make a system more desirable because there is no other way to play the game, and clearly if you can play it on a PC then one doesn't have to purchase an xbox to play the game.

Hey Panda, SC:Conviction is not multiplatform bc no one considers PC a platform. Secondly, Alan Wake will never be multiplatform bc it's published by Microsoft you moron. Mass Effect 2 is still in the air bc Bioware is now under the EA umbrella. Halo: Reach is supposed to outdue all other iterations according to a Bungie developer. Honestly, they need to make it 3rd person and show a full scale war going on instead of these individual missions.

"I can't entirely agree with that conclusion, because if I could only own an xbox360, ps3 or a PC then the title existing on the xbox 360 does give it another piece of software that the ps3 doesn't have."

so by using your logic since the Wii dosent have Fallout 3 it makes it a exclusive title for the PS3? You see if we were to use your logic then we would have to assume that EVERYONE can only buy 1 Platform, and that's not a fair comparison, because face it not everyone is in that position. What we should do label each console and the PC as a platform.

Imagine if you will boxes.....and each one of these boxes has holes in it for which blocks can fall through, There's one for the Xbox (box shape), one for the Wii (star shape), one for the PS3 (circle shape), and one for the computer (triangle shape). Look at the first game, its shape is small enough to fit in all respective holes, that game is NOT EXCLUSIVE! Look here comes the second game it is a star cube, that means it can't fit in the box, it can't fit in the circle and it can't fit in the triangle. This game is a EXCLUSIVE! Look a third game comes it has both a box and a triangle cube, it goes into the box shaped box, won't fit in the star, won't fit in the circle, fits in the triangle that means this game is NOT EXCLUSIVE! Physically not exclusive, theoretically not exclusive, only emotionally for some people it is exclusive, and these people are just trying to justify their purchase.

Alright kiddies, no more nit picking. None of these games will be played on a PS3--there does that help?
No, b/c no the fanboys are mad that the 360 can play something that the PS3 cant.
So, what will they do about it? -- "We'll just play it on PC..", they whine.

Well, thats a load of bull. If they HAD good gaming PCs they wouldnt BlTCH and MOAN about who has what, and what graphics are the best. They would play their games instead of crying about them and the DEFINITION OF A WORD....good God people....Grow up.

BTW: MS better shove one hell of a marketing campaign at Alan Wake, b/c the rest of the world has kinda forgotten about it by now. I wasnt even thinking about it as I read the list. lol.

No, that is not at all what I said. By my logic if a person could only buy one system, and they wanted a game unavailable on one of the platforms, then that platform is probably not in the running for that individual. I used the xbox as having the game that example; however it could also have been replaced with a PC or PS3. I never placed a limit on every one, I simply stated that I disagreed with you're conclusion as it failed to take the potential for a person to only have one system into consideration. There are people out there that may only be able to afford one system, and I can not fault them for picking what ever suites their desires the best.

I'm mostly fine with that. After all one has hardware and software designed by Microsoft, and the other has hardware designed by who ever build the computer, but I won't go as far as saying the software requires a Microsoft OS on the PC side. I don't know if Wine, Crossover or one of the other cross platform API's can run one of these games yet, and if they did then that would invalidate that argument. That being said their intended systems are Microsoft based.

"Also think MS is publishing those titles though so they are getting money, so you PS3 fanboys who play on the PC to spite "exclusive" you are still supporting the tyrant you hate."

SO EA has nothing to do with ME2, and UBISOFT made Splinter cell so MS and publish it and reep the profits? yer that's some nice logic there.

"Alright kiddies, no more nit picking. None of these games will be played on a PS3--there does that help? "

and 2 of them are not "exclusive" to 360 only does that help too?

"No, that is not at all what I said. By my logic if a person could only buy one system, and they wanted a game unavailable on one of the platforms, then that platform is probably not in the running for that individual."

well then you would be looking at a perspective to tell if a games is a exclusive and this is bias and unfair view. So their opinion of an exclusive is mute.

"There are people out there that may only be able to afford one system, and I can not fault them for picking what ever suites their desires the best"

They can pick what ever system they want, but if they only use one perspective to determine if a game is exclusive or not then their opinion would not matter since it is only a one sided view.

Lets make this clear, Imagine you don't own any systems. Do you think ME2 is multiPLATFORM? OR a Exclusive?

I should point out that I said the same thing about Alan Wake years ago and now that we do have some details for it, I'm starting to get a little excited.
