Grand Theft Auto, Where to next?

GTAIV was a good game, although a bit over-hyped it was still overall a good game. Grand theft auto has been a part of gaming for ages, since the 2D originals to the portable iterations. There has been controversy both in and out of the gaming world about Grand Theft Auto IV. weather it be the games violence or exclusitivity of DLC there has been arguments. now it's been a while since the release of Grand Theft Auto and the Lost and Damned with the upcoming Ballad of Gay Tony add-on. what is next in the grand theft auto series?

only on ps3, yea lets just take the turd express down.
why not make a ton more on xbox 360. something you know to well that rockstar knows. xbox sales, ps3 turd machine.

developers make way more off of 360. game is cheaper to make and sales are always higher on the 360, plus like the guy above says the download money. c'mon you know thats whats going down.

or maybe M$ will buy it for them selfs. exclusive xbox 360

Let me dissect your post of fanboyish nonsensical gibberish:

only on ps3, yea lets just take the turd express down.
--

Despite the fact that this sentence is grammatically incorrect and makes no sense, I will answer it anyways. Take a look at the Blu Ray disc. MGS4 took all 50 gb of that space. Now, imagine GTA4 being released from the gimped 7gb space of the DVD and being allowed SEVEN times as much space as the 360 let it have.
--

I can disprove your statement with a single link:

http://gamer.blorge.com/200...

Your precious 360 does not outsell the PS3 in games.
--
or maybe M$ will buy it for them selfs. exclusive xbox 360

I always lol when Microsoft fanboys themselves refer to MS as 'M$'. Just shows that Microsoft wouldn't be anywhere if they didn't buy everything and everyone out. Second - GTA4 sold approximately 5.65 million on PS3 and 7.1 million on 360. Good for you, huh? Wrong. Had the PS3's install base been the same as the 360's, GTA4 would have sold MORE on the PS3 than the 360.

You, sir, are a fanboy and need to lrn2nglish

You really have only laid yourself up to attack there, Buttons. Do you honestly think that Rockstar is going to look at the figures and say, "Well, considering the PS3s smaller install base I would say that sales of GTAIV were better than on PS3"? Wrong.

Fact: GTAIV sold better on 360.

Can you dissect that fact? You can sure put your spin on it, "Bu bu but, the 360 had a larger install base, that's why."

And? What's your point, Buttons? The 360 still has a larger install base. Is Rockstar going to make the next GTA exclusive to the PS3? Why would they cut off more than 50 percent of their sales potential just because they could get more space out of blu ray?

Rockstar can make just as good a game on the 360 as on the PS3, maybe not as large obviously. Plus, they care about making money. And the 360 has an install base that just cannot be ignored.

It's quite funny. Whenever a game that was exclusively on the 360 goes multiplatform, Sony fanboys say, "Well, of course, the PS3s install base cannot be ignored." Well, neither can the 360s.

1.6 - Sadly, I have to agree with kaveti6616's point on this one.
While it would be nice to see Rockstar be able to truly take advantage of Blu-Ray and a standard hard drive, it just isn't going to happen. This isn't like last gen. There isn't an installed base of 100 million gamers all with the same platform, and thusly in order to make any money developers have no choice but to go multiplatform.

Weird thing is this gen - for some reason if the games aren't identical it ends up alienating half the installed user base. Last gen, developers didn't seem to have an issue with making the best game they could on the PS2 and then making a better version on the Xbox because they had a hard drive and a more powerful console to take advantage of.

This gen, the internet greatly influences gamers buying habits. I tremendous game like Orange Box which managed an astounding metacritic score of 89 on the PS3 was ignored because the perception was it was somehow unplayable. I've heard people mention that they'll pass on the "gimped" version of Ghostbusters on the PS3, despite the resounding majority of game reviewers recommending the title on both platforms.

just make it so that I dont have restart the whole god damned mission JUST BECAUSE those F!cking policemen get in the way of everything. Seriously it gets so freaking frustrating having to drive over and over again (with those crazy physics too) just so I can finish a mission! Also a little less pop-in and frame-rate drops please!

Other than that, GTA 4 is fantastic! A new game expanding what they did in GTA4 would be awesome IMO. The missions (some are repetitive) are mostly epic, and the story is f!cking amazing, and grahpics arent too bad.

Although R* North is working on Agent, so I'd rather take that to see what these awesome devs can do with a new IP. Either way cant wait!

GTAV in Tokyo would make my day.

Of course 5 will be on next gen platforms.

Since it was 3 for last gen plus spinoffs, 4 for this gen plus upcoming spinoffs.

V will be pumping next generation specs so we can expect the best.

9 - For the First time in the Grand theft Series
They should have Multiple Locations
Start off in Miami then off to Detroit then off to Europe for a Taste of London and Milan and maybe a bit of Paris or Dusseldorf then off to Brazil and Australia then Russia
And then Tokyo and then back to the US for a Trip to Washington and over the Border to Mexico and lets throw in a trip to Dallas and Alabama
Should fit nice and Snug on a Blu Ray Disc

Since it's a sandbox game, that would be kind of weird. Do you think they would make it so you could just take a boat all the way from Miami to London. Blu ray is big, but not that big.

Unfortunately bluray is only useful when a game is built from the ground up for the ps3. GTAV will be multiplatform as every gta has been before. The ironic thing about bluray is just because developers could put a huge game on one disc doesn't mean they will. These days developers would rather release a smaller game then release all the rest of the content as DLC that they charge you for. Since HD games are such a financial risk these days that's the new trend.

GTA Glasgow

Would be great fun running over the neds and emo kids in george square.

If they are worried about the limitations of DVD they could make it on 2 discs. I know this has obvious difficulties but they would find a way to pull it off. It is worth it because we all get the feeling they had to hold alot of stuff back in GTA4.

i think they're going to keep doing whats comfortable for them, Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas.

i mean, do they REALLY know enough about Japanese culture (for example) to make a parody game about life in Tokyo..? i doubt it somehow. it could fail miserably, possibly even come off as unintentionally racist or something.

GTA Belfast in the 70s-90s would be really good.
Also Tokyo would be amazing, alot of variety in japanise locations, and they can play around with making humor out of badly translated stuff like they love to.

23 - London
I see a revisit to London as a likely move by Rockstar.

They have been there once, but that was a long time ago and now it will grace the screen again in full 3D and HD to booth.

London is a gigantic city, and it's European flair will give the franchise a breath of fresh air In my opinion.

The creators themselves are from London and instead of parodying American culture all the time, they can now take a look on their own culture back home.

That could be interesting.

Rockstar just need to set the game in the future. Not in the vein of Mass Effect but more akin to Minority Report/Blade Runner. A mix of modern and futuristic architecture and technology.

that they always make GTA games out of the biggest cities in the U.S? like Los Santos=LA, Vice City=Miami. Liberty City=New York City, except Chicago thats base in Saints row 2. I want them to make a GTA out of Houston Tx because theres a lot of suburbs around the area.

31 - In my opinion
Since the GTA creators are British, they would know enough about the culture to create a great GTA:London.

Maybe they could set it around the time of the olympics and make it the first GTA set in the future. The atmosphere would be immense, and by then there will be a few more landmarks in London.
