im a sony fan because of Ps2 (ps double ftw) but Gears just looks cool graphics and is violent and funny and has chainsaws and it sells better than the sony games because of that

MGS4 is more for the hardcore gamer, the storyline is just ridiculously complicated, and the franchise itself is bigger only because its the fourth game.

BUT GEARS 2 is hands down the game to watch out for this year, and will most definitely sell more than MGS4. It will have more hype than any other game released on PS3 this year.

FF will not make it this year,
and GT prologue is really just a big demo/ teaser of what to expect for GT5.
Resistance lost round one against Gears, lets see Round 2
and KZ2 has potential but based on previous game, its still the underdog.

Highest selling MGS game-7 million on a 100 million install base over what? 10 years now.... Gears sold 5 million on an install base that was lower then 10 million in 2 years..... lets not forget the other MGS games also did significantly worse....You might as well face the facts overall Gears sells better per system then MGS by a significant margin.... but even then GTA towers over both of them.

It's like comparing a great rookie NFL player to one from the Hall of Fame. Sure the rooking might be the best talent seen in a long time.
But it has to prove it self more than one season.

Now don't get me wrong. I freaking love gears of war.
And I'm personally looking forward to number 2 more than MSG.
But saying GOW franchise is bigger is just ridiculous.
It' might become bigger, but for now there is no competition.

Agreed. I cant lie... I'm getting a 360 jusr this and Gears 1. As much as it pains me to gamble on buying a 360, theres just no way in hell I can pass this up.

I loved the 1st and I'm sure I will feel the same about 2. So a core 360 and 2 games(GOW 1&2) it is and that will be the extent of my 360 collection until 3 drops. I aint Investing heavily in the 360 due to its "issues"

Good Point. Anyone who just blows RES2 off as noncontender obviously never played Resistance at all or not long enough to get in to it. If you have then you know what a Awsome game Resistance is.

Same goes for GOW, even though my dislike for 360 runs deeper than still-water. I cant and wont hate on Gears. This game ranks in my all time top 10 and its edged out over Resistance to me because I prefer 3rd person shooters over FPS's

Atleast everyone has something to be excited about, rather it be MGS4, RES2, or GOW2. I personally will be enjoying all 3 :D

---Halo Wars isnt a RPG its a strategy game. Fable is a Action RPG..not a normal RPG like FF/Lost Odyssey. Fable will be AMAZING, but for traditional RPGs 360 has no exclusives we know of yet coming 2008..PS3 has the more content version of Eternal Sonata, and dont forget White Knight Story (Which looks AMAZING!)

Gears 2 has not been announced for the PC and who knows, since Gears 1 sold like total ass on the PC it might not see 2. Still, let's just stick to what has been said and unless I'm blind Cliffy said ONLY ON XBOX 360.

I am not going to argue the semantics of what is considered exclusive but will just say that the PS3 will not see it. If you want to play these games on a console you will need a 360. They call it a console war for a reason.

I think you are so concerned with hating that you will say and twist just about anything. Why are you so angry?

both system's have a good lineup this year. It's just getting old to keep hearing that the 360 is done and it's used up all it's thunder, etc when just by the response the Gears 2 announcement is getting on all the gaming sites I think the 360 has plenty of gas in the tank.

As for Franchises most the GTs sold around 10 million as of 2007, Halo 3 has what? 7 million and it hasn't even been out for a year yet, Halo 2 had 8 million w/ a 10th of the install base the GTs had, Gears and Halo both have 5x the Attach Ratios the GT games have.

The highest selling GT game is around 14 million on a system that has 120 million consoles worldwide (still lower then most GTA games) that means less then 1 in 9 people who have a Ps2 buy GT, the Halo 3 attach rate last time it was quoted was near 50% thats 1 out of every 2 people, Gears is at 5 million w/ the 360 around 17 million that's a copy of gears for almost every 3.5 360s,.

Now lets count in the fact that when Gears 2 and GT release the 360 will still have a significantly higher install base then the Ps3...... which do you really think is going to win? Do you actually expect 40->50% of Ps3 owners to buy MGS4 or GT(an attach ratio no PS game has ever come close to, especially since it's a FACT that PS3 owners don't buy nearly as many games as 360 owners)? that is what it would take to match Gears 1 in sales....

Actually look @ the numbers before you call someone else out, o and LOLROFLMAO @ Sony's "conference" tommorow they pretty much didn't even bother coming to GDC because they knew they would get upstaged, don't expect anything big from Sony until their Gamer's Day in May because that's the only time they have no competition to make them look bad.
