The graphics are pretty similar, but gameplay looks different. I don't think it's meant to be a 'shooter' exactly.

It is obviously a Gears of War clone in so many ways and I don't think anybody can deny that. It might still be a decent game but don't pretend that it isn't a Gears of War clone.

Since when would that be a bad thing? Gears of War1 is the only reason I own a 360(or as I like to call it, my Gears player)

Anyways, I think the prospect of a Gears style game on PS3 would be promising. It would be able to support more players(PSN has proven its servers can handle a lot of players). Not to mention, this game looks like it will have a competent storyline, and the graphics actually do seem superior to gears. The particle effects and explosion in those pictures look pretty awesome. I always hated the way in Gears when something explodes all it does is basically send up a plume of smoke.

That E3 trailer you speak of is almost 2 years old, and it shows no gameplay. That is a hasty prediction if you ask me.

When it was first annouced I thought it was a going to be a Gears of War for PS3, which you can argue is a bad thing. but I thought it was a good thing, I mean every game needs a rival, we are seeing it play out this week with Forza and GT.

But they released the E3 trailer on PSN last week and I don't have high hopes for this game. the main character looks like a Freakshow, and the whole point of the game is to get to the top of this tower, all the environments look the same. I hope they pull a "Splinter Cell" on this game. We don't see or hear about it for years then "BAM" There is the bottom of an avatar's shoe and they show up with a completely new game.

Because it is trying to be more than just a 3rd person shooter. Everyone knows that Gears has a weak SP. It looks like Tecmo, which is a completely capable dev by the way, is trying to spice things up.

And that E3 trailer that you guys keep ranting and raving about, that was from E3 07!

To be compared to one of the best rated 3PSs this gen should be flattering. I wouldn't consider it an insult for some to describe it as 'PS3's GeoW'. Tecmo doesn't. They admit the similarities, but it'll stand out in the details.

I am not saying this game has no hope, but as of right now I need to see more to be convinced it is not a dud. As far as the trailer goes that clip that you pasted is showing all of the gameplay from the exact trailer that I and others were refering to, I think you are the one who is confused. When this game was unveiled at TGS 08, the developer said it was 30% complete, so there is no way we saw footage from 07, by my math in 07 the only thing they had was concept footage and not a solid game mechanic.

All that being said I do hope this game turns out to be awesome, I can see it going either way.

Not exactly, since quantum is a ps3 exclusive and all I'd say its beyond prototype quality. Also, judging from the recent trailers, its gonna be a Huge contender against gears of war. This also explains why 360 fanboys are already hating on it. But keep this in mind... its Ninja gaiden action mixed with a third person shooter! Cannot wait!

xbox = to enter the concole market, taste the sea, "amateur"
xbox 360 = to make a niche, compete agaisnt evil, "contender"
xbox 720 = OWN THIS B1TCH!!!! it will cum on ps4... "destroyer"
to tell you the truth, i believe the ms should wait a little longer b4 bringin the destroyer, as it will obviously own this b1tch...so they should take their time, appreciate the 360 and its yet untapped power...

and yes, i plan to play uncharted 2...but at the gamestop...i will try the demo there...for once i will overlook commonsense and try playin a ps3 game...wish me luck...

Just watch the trailer posted by lordgodalming
The tower moves and changes shape while you're in it
the sword-wielding girl on your shoulder
and gears was the reason to own a 360 for many anyway so even if it is similar it STILL can't loose

If you really want a Gears clone you only need to look as far as Unreal Tournament IIIs 3rd person view user created content...

I havent seen a single damn comment written by you that I would agree with and I only agree with half of this one because that R2 remark you made was rubbish and more so childish.

However, Quantum looks to borrow HEAVILY from Gears. I DL'd the vid from PSN and noticed that even the icons that prompt you to jump over cover, take cover, etc look just like Gears.

I gotta tell ya, With the chances of GeOW ever hitting looking more and more slim, I hope Tecmo does whatever it takes to make this the PS3's version of GeOW. I love that franchise and I give respect where respect is due.

I enjoyed gears 1 online alot. Gears 1.5 destroyed that. Everything about Gears 1.5 online is a mess. I hope Tecmo takes everything from gears and improves upon it.

Edit: lmao at the disagrees. Why not have a game that plays better than gears? Im not saying this will play better, we have to wait and see, but come on we always want the best experiance in a game. Oh thats right its not multiplat.

Tecmo actually has a history of making clones that dates back to the pre-NES era.

Games will be of the same genre, but it is clear that Quantum is borrowing heavily from GeoW. As far as what I have seen, Tecmo has not shown me anything that distance itself from GeoW. On the other hand, who cares if it is a clone as long as it is good!

Have you even played both games? Killswitch is nothing like Gears of War. The fact that they both use a 3rd person cover system is basically where the similarity ends.

Quantum on the other hand copies dozens of elements from Gears and looks generic as hell in my opinion. I don't expect it to get very good reviews and certainly won't be even in the same realm as Gears of War.

Gears of War was already generic enough, at least Quantum is trying to throw in some more elements.

Wow the character models, animations, and textures are terrible. Please leave games like these to the pros(Epic).

What made Gears great was how believable the story was, from organic weapons to simple human resources. Quantum Theory suffers from "too much sci-fi" to be believable/interesting, imo. It could work or it could not. I'm thinking the latter.

Yes, that is why Gears 2 looks better than 99% of the games on the ps3 and the only games on ps3 that look as good are Killzone 2 and Uncharted...quite hating on Unreal engine...it is actually a very powerful and flexible engine...and that is why so many developers use it. Gears 2 looks a lot better than this game no matter how you look at it.
