If it's graded on what it should be about GAMES. Then I give it like this
1)Sony
2) Tied MicroSoft and Nintendo

and the only reason Nintendo is tied is because I love me some 2D Mario.

It has a lot to do with presentation.

We didn't expect MS to be able to react to Sony show and they were pretty good. At the same time, we expected a lot more from Sony.

And I'm not even talking about PS3 Slim. We all expected a price cut and a lot of games we know that are under development (like Twisted Metal and what not).

But if we actually will go technical and pass the impression (like tose damn sites should do to be less tendencious) and count down games and compare announced features, Sony had a way better show.

Doesn't seem right at all. Sony had the games and more exclusive games, announcement after announcement, the reveals, the technology live demonstrated, clean and pretty presnetation, etc.

Microsoft did very good but they had awkward moments like the Beatles, multiplats, they showed technology on video that isn't real yet (Milo), etc.

Nintendo had a lot of nice stuff but nothing amazing except Metroid.

Sony: A+
Microsoft: B+
Nintendo: C-

Most gaming and tech outlets believe that Microsoft had the best showing. A poll of over 10,850 people also showed that the greater majority thought Microsoft had the most impressive E3.

Here is an article from cdfreaks.com: http://www.cdfreaks.com/new...
Microsoft won E3
04/06/09 17:51 by Jared Newman
Poll: Microsoft won E3
"A survey of readers at CNet http://polls.cnet.com/polls... appears to confirm what should've been obvious to anyone that watched the big three console makers' press conferences: Microsoft is the king of this year's E3.

Of the 10,000 people that responded to CNet's poll, more than 51 percent said Microsoft had the most impressive announcements at its press event, 34 percent favored Sony and only 5.6 percent liked Nintendo's announcements best. People who were unimpressed with all three announcements came to 8.4 percent.

The percentages pretty much describe the way I feel about the console makers' respective pressers. Nintendo's dry presentation lacked major surprises (with the exception of a new Metroid game) and Sony did an admirable job putting weight behind the PSP brand and its Playstation 3 games while revealing the obligatory motion controller. Neither compared, however, to Microsoft's event.

Almost every part of the presentation revealed new information, from exclusive game announcements such as Left 4 Dead 2 to major Xbox Live additions and improvements such as 1080p streaming video, improved Netflix navigation and integration with Facebook and Twitter. And to top it off, Project Natal looked better than any motion controller we've seen yet.

It was a blinged-out presentation too, with flashing lights and elaborate sets decked out in lime green Xbox 360 tones. Appearences by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, Olivia Harrison, Tony Hawk and Steven Spielberg didn't hurt, either.

Indeed, Microsoft looks like it is hitting a stride in the console wars. Let's see if that has any effect on Nintendo's swagger."

Honestly folks, the PS3 fanboys on this site who predictably proclaim Sony the victor are in the minority.

1.8 - LOL Sony had it as soon as they showed Uncharted
Really was there anything that ms showed more amazing than that???

The Last Guardian (Amazing)

GT5 (LOL after Forsa devs making all those silly claims all we need is a trailer to put them back in their place)

Mod Nation Racers(kicked that NXE avatar racer MS showed)Also the track creation killed mario kart, lol u can just remake a mario track if u wanted :p

Motion Control Prototype (very impressive and accurate, they showed that it could be incorporated into hard core games and not mini games or talking to a depressed suicidal kid)

God of War 3 (The definition of EPIC)

Only thing I'm still excited for is Alan Wake but I'll get it on pc and

ofcourse ill get disagrees for that^_^

I agree with OP.

All the big Sony games have been seen before (and yes they do look amazing) and some didn't even get given a release date. (Still none on GT? 4 E3s later?). No PS3 slim, no price cut, no surprises; even the promising PSP GO! wasn't a surprise and still doesn't have a second analogue stick to make me upgrade from my 2000. Lots of cool games though.

MS had some good new footage of games like SC: Conviction, and new announcements like L4D2 and MGS, but needed more games. Those that say that Natal is a gimmick obviously are ignoring the amazing (if perplexing) success of the Wii which is killing in sales. Natal does look amazing and so much more advanced that the other wii/ps motes.

You were impressed by Milo grabbing that picture? That same stuff can be done with eyetoy easily. Take a look at Eyepet for instance. You draw stuff on paper and the pet draws it in game and it comes to life. And sony didnt even bother to show that, so how you think thats more impressive than GOW3 and Uncharted2 is beyond me.

If you ask me, Uncharted 2 was hands down the most impressive game shown at E3, and Sony wins based on that game alone. Oh and MS big game this fall, Halo ODST looked really really dull. Ofcourse it will get great reviews since it has Halo in the name.

I think you and many others are more satisfied with MS cause you got more than you were expecting (good thing when you keep expectations low). On the other hand everybody was expecting Sony to have a killer presentation, and while it was, the hype was too high and additionally it was semi-spoiled by the PSP-Go leak.

IMO, sony is the winner w/o doubts.

Im talking about presenting quality stuff, no shows and future BS projects. No Facebook (Why facebook if you got Home) and 1080p videos (So what? the PS3 got BR, and 1080p videos from day one)

Lets talk about GAMES. In my opinion Sony was relentless. A lot of games for the PSP. New propierty from Rockstar, FFXIV. GT:Mobile, Peace Walker (directed and produced by Kojima), and the gems UC2 (this is enough to KILL anything in the 360), TLG (sublime) and GoW3 (ran out of words)

As a Sony fan I have to agree. MS overall did win this battle. Sony showed some great exclusive games but overall did not really present all that well (from a public speaking perspective). MS has slightly less punch from their exclusives but overall but made up for it with their live feature updates. I have no idea which motion controller was better because they both look stupid and require you to spend tons of money. The PSP has some great games coming but honestly the new model does not have me that excited and was terribly presented (not to mention not a surprise at all) (costs a little to much as well). I was not expecting a price drop but what really got me bummed as a PS3 owner was no news on a firmware update. Come one Sony we need cross game voice chat. Also MS gets major props for not blabing about sales or stats which are always boring. Sony kept them short but honestly if a investor wants to know how well Sony is doing I doubt that last place he would look is E3. They should have done another LBP powerpoint like last year. That was awesome. Overall I would give MS a solid B+ and Sony a high B. Sony really saved themselves with some killer first party games and new exclusive IP's: UC2, MAG, GOWIII (which is looking better every showing. GOWII now comes with spewing centaur guts, yay!),GT5, FFXIV and Agent. I think Sony may have too many good games coming out.

You've every right to your opinion of course, but the 'live feature updates' are pretty lame for most people. The only reason they had to get Last Fm, twitter and facebook intergrated is that they don't have a browser. Ps3 owners can use all these sites and any other one too, and have been doing so for years.

Still, theres something to look forward to from all the major players, so as an owner of all machines, E3 had plenty to make me happy. :)

Sony had by far the best line up. I really don't see the point in having twitter, facebook and last.fm on a console.

Microsoft definitely had the flashiest show but the games (except for the new splinter cell) didn't really pack a punch. Alan Wake looks promising but it looks too much like alone in the dark for my tastes.

Sony's lineup was incredible though, so many great games coming out.

Overall it's been a great e3, even nintendo actually had stuff to offer for core gamers, but i still think the vitality sensor is useless.

10 - Actually
Senor douch crck last year Nintendo had a horrible conference. The highlight was wii sports resort and wii motion plus.

-This year had what Nintendo fans wanted multiplayer Mario, Galaxy 2 sequel to the best reviewed game of this gen, Golden Sun DS, im guessing you havent heard of this franchise, Kingdom hearts DS, User generated content for Wario Ware and Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, oh and the megaton METROID OTHER M. Im sorry if you didn't like the games but that doesn't mean there bad. Nintendo deserved its grade. Come on a Metroid game made by Team Ninja. Holy sh!t did you see the trailer. Metroid looks bad a$$ I don't care how old it is. Not only that but they showed The Conduit, Dead Space, and Resident Evil DC. crck STFU!

LOL Resorting to name calling huh? Very mature and you topped it off with a mighty STFU? I'm terrified, those big capital letters are so intimidating. First off, yeah Nintendo's conference last year was complete garbage which is why I said every other year, boy genius.

Wow!!! A multiplayer 2d Mario game! Complete with DS/SNES graphics, gameplay from the SNES days, non-existent story and probably no voice work besides "itsa me Mario!". Its basically a flash game being sold for $50. It would get ignored by game editors as a retail game if it was anything besides Mario.

Super Mario Galaxy play well but it has most of the same problems. Just a bunch of random levels thrown together without any real cohesion, story or purpose. You are smoking a pipe if you think the original would have been so highly rated without the fore mentioned old G game editors caught in the nostalgia of their youth.

Metroid looked fine but is it going to be any better then God of War 3 or any of the previous Ninja Gaiden games? My guess is no. But its Metroid!!!!! So again the old G's go wild. I just begin to feel sorry for you when you mention RE: DC, Dead Space and Conduit. You are just working so hard to scrape up anything you can. Two rail shooters and a generic scifi FPS do not an excellent conference make. Especially when all three were announced months ago.

I don't even understand how anyone can say Microsoft won. They did a bit better than Nintendo, in my opinion.

Sony won hands-down. Their motion tech was the most impressive, and most importantly, didn't flip out and break at ALL, they showed more than just multiplat games, and their speakers were confident and likable (except the guy showing off their motion system, but only for a little while).

Microsoft's conference was pretty much a disaster. The only redeeming part was their motion system, which also glitched out a couple of times. All they did was show multiplat games, announce an exclusive song (OoOooOoOO), Cliffy's new game (which also glitched out and had to be stopped early. The boss disappeared, for god's sake!), and then the motion system. The motion system was overall impressive, and what netted Microsoft most of its points, but let's face it: it's not going to be what it's expected to be. It looks like it has very little practical use, and it's going to cost $200. It's going to be released more than half-way through the console's life cycle. It's destined to fail, and they REALLY should have kept it for next gen. Same with Sony's motion, to be honest. But anyways, Microsoft's speakers were all also terrible. They fumbled a ton, stuttered, and left my generally unimpressed.

Before anyone comments, take this into consideration: I own neither a 360 nor a PS3. I never really was looking into buying either. After seeing E3 though, Sony has got me a lot more excited for their system.

I didn't really comment on Nintendo because it's pretty much universally acknowledged that their conference was really just a shadow of what it could've been. If anyone wants me to give my thoughts on it though I'll proceed, but I doubt that's the case.

These are just indifferent opinions of course. Lots of media outlets were far more impressed with Sony's offerings than they were with Microsoft's. Sony's conference had better fanfare too.

Remember all that buzz about Microsoft's motion controls, and Milo after their show? That's all gone after seeing Sony's far more practical and superior motion controllers.

Overall, I wouldn't get into judging each conference and giving out grades because they all were on equal footing, outside of personal preference. And how did Sony lose momentum when they started with Uncharted 2, fell into the motion controller, and ended with God of War III? God of War III and Uncharted 2 also looked better than anything at e3.

Sony edged it in my opinion.

I still can't understand why hardcore gamers are excited for Natal, and specifically Milo. Suddenly motion controls ARE the future just because MS/Sony say so? Interesting how these fanboys screaming 'it teh futurez' are the same bunch who have been ripping in to Nintendo for their waggle controls.

Molyneaux has referred to Milo as something like a 'turbo charged Tamagotchi'. I can think of nothing more boring.

Seaman on the Dreamcast, EyePet, EyeToy, Wiimote - we've seen it all before. IF MS can show some games that really make the most of the tech, then fine I'll buy in to Natal. Until then I have zero interest.

Same goes for the Sony motion controls. Show me the games that are not gimmicks. My Wii is gathering dust as I'm sick of motion controls that serve no purpose (Mario Galaxy being the biggest crime).

Other than that I can remove about 30%-50% of MS' E3 conference because of non-interest in motion controls, and non-interest in streaming videos/Xbox Live. I already have Sky TV and don't want to pay another subscription, just to have it streaming through my 360.

So what it comes down to (for me) is the games, games, games.

And Sony showed more games of higher quality than MS. Splinter Cell looks cool. Alan Wake looked atmospheric. Forza 3 looked like another Forza game (no bad thing I loved the previous ones). But nothing really grabbed me and shouted 'DUST OFF YOUR 360! - except for Crackdown 2, which looks to me like a late 2010 release as the movie was CGI'. No Rare info, no Silicon Knights info, no specific Lionhead titles announced. A bunch of multi-plat info is not that exciting.

On the other hand I hadn't seen the Last Guardian leaked footage, so Sony blew me away. I loved the previous Team ICO games, and this looked amazing. God of War 3 looks like it's continuing the epic feel of the previous games. MAG looks OK. Uncharted 2 looks like even more fun than the first. Sony have almost convinced me that my PSP purchase wasn't a waste. And I was really excited by ModNation Racers, which blew MS' Avatar Kart game out of the water.

All in all, as a gamer who owns all three consoles, Sony showed me they are getting stronger and better. MS are trying their best but their inexperience is showing. Nintendo tried their best, and Metroid and Conduit look like they might be AAA.

As a gamer I think I won E3 :) All three companies had a good showing (less so Nintendo), but if I were forced to only own one console, it would have to be the PS3.

Microsoft had the flashiest show, but substantively Sony edged it out.

Molyneux is historically a lying sack of crap, so it's very hard to gauge whether or not Milo was just a total script job since it wasn't live. Alan Wake looked right up my alley, and I was really feeling Splinter Cell, but that's about where it ends for me. The guy presenting Forza had his tongue so far up his own ass with the "definitive racer of this generation" on repeat, that I could barely stop laughing long enough to pay attention to the game. Yoko hitting the stage also made me throw up in my mouth a little. Am I the only one who thought it was a colossal slap in the face to roll her out for anything Beatles related?

As far as Sony goes, the PSP Go! is about $50 too expensive, but the PSP lineup is completely rock solid (especially with the real 'MGS5'), so kudos on that. The on-stage demo of Uncharted 2 blew me away, and is my favorite moment of E3 this year. Mad respect for the crew at Naughty Dog. I wish the God of War 3 demo had gone on longer, but what we saw was more than enough to get off on. FFXIV? Online? Pass. Dying to know more about Agent, and The Last Guardian looks stunning.

Can't really speak on Modern Warfare 2 or Assassin's Creed 2. Both looked great, but they're multiplat so you can't give it up to one or the other in the end.
