Upcoming current generation games I am excited about

518d ago ... 2013 has provided some great gaming experiences. Games like Dead Space 3, Tomb Raider, Gears of War, God of War, Bioschock and Crysis 3 showcase there is still a lot of life left with the current gen systems. This year is off to a great start and there has not been any shortage of good gaming experiences. As this year is already 4 months in and with next generation systems on the horizon....

Variety Is An Endangered Species

530d ago ... I was watching a 2 part interview that Adam Sessler had with Michael Pachter which discussed various different issues that gaming and the gaming development scene face today. Setting aside the fact that Sessler agrees with a man who has been more incorrect about his predictions than any average person trying to play along with an episode of Jeopardy, I was listening to what Pachter was talking...

No Respect... No Respect At All

549d ago ... This has been a screwy month for gaming, particularly if you're a Nintendo fan. On the plus side, several games have come out for the Wii U (specifically Lego City, Monster Hunter and Need for Speed U). All of these games have generally received positive scores and are just now becoming available. Furthermore, a new third party title, a rerelease of Deus Ex: HuRev, was announced for Wii U. T...

The problem with pre-orders

565d ago ... Games have come a long way since the late 80's and early 90's, it's needless to say really, but do we ever stop to think about how the business side of games has changed too? Most games we play now a days are developed by many teams all specialising in different areas, sometimes during development these teams hardly ever meet to discuss the project. It's a stark contrast to development teams...

January Winners!

591d ago ... Congratulations, guys! There were some really great Blogs and Reviews this month, and deciding was incredibly difficult. Shout outs to Nate-Dog, coolbeans, darkpower and iamnsuperman, to name a few. A note about Blog and User review selections, since there's been a tiny bit of confusion in the past: We don't choose winners based on what we agree with, we choose them based on things like qual...

Lara Croft is Back | a Tomb Raider Preview

617d ago ... Tomb Raider is a game that is undeniably on the radar of most, if not all gamers by now, whether it be in lieu of interest or because they’re waiting to see if it lives up to the expectations set for it. Regardless of the reason, Tomb Raider is for the first time since the late 90s, a game that’s close to number one on the lists of the most anticipated and most discussed video games to be relea...

Are trophies/achievements ruining game experiences?

689d ago ... After entering the world of gaming during the PS1's reign, I was blown away by titles such as: Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid and Driver (being particular highlights). Why? They required imagination to play and let the player do whatever they want; whether it be the way in which they decide to execute a mission, their play-style or how they decided to explore an open-world - it all required imag...

Beating a dead horse...

823d ago ... Last night I went to the cinema to see Snow White and the Huntsman, an alright film let down by Kristen Stewart trying to be enthusiastic and uplifting. During the film, a particular scene struck me and the bias against certain forms of entertainment became apparent. In the scene, Snow White is locked in her tower when the Queen orders her brother to fetch her. As he enters, he sits next to...

An Insight into the Controversy of Tomb Raider

830d ago ... As of late, there has been an uproar of disgruntled and frustrated gamers who have been up in arms about a theorized rape scene in Tomb Raider, the upcoming reboot to the franchise by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics. For a brief insight into the plot (spoilers may follow, so please read at your own discretion), Lara Croft along with her mentor, Conrad Roth, and several other sailors aboard the...

835d ago ... I've tallied up all the announcements, trailers and awkward silences to find out who was the 'scientific' winner of E3 this year. So here are the results... For the rules see... http://n4g.com/user/blogpost/chaostar/520029 There's a TL;DR section at the bottom for the lazy people. Did Uncharted Really Copy Tomb Raider?

840d ago ... Ah, the question that has been debated so many times since Uncharted first caught our attention when Naughty Dog announced it back in E3 2006. A “Tomb Raider clone” they called it, a “rip off” they stated but it wasn’t until the game first released in 2007 that gamers finally understood just how different Uncharted was compared to the PS1 classic Tomb Raider. Unfortunately most gamers today...

Tomb Raider (2013) Pre-Release Impressions

843d ago ... "Crossroads," the extensive and in-depth E3 trailer for Tomb Raider was finally unveiled and I must say, my faith in the Tomb Raider series has been restored, fully. Although I expressed some paranoia and cynicism in my previous blog on the game, I will admit that while the new footage has undeniably thrilled and excited me, as well as tantalised my appetite, I remain sceptical on certain front...

Lara Croft Redone | a Tomb Raider Fan's Insight

844d ago ... Even though it feels recent, it's closing in on two years since the announcement of Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' latest project--a reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. Given the simple, yet appropriate name, 'Tomb Raider,' and with the tantalising and promising slogan, 'A Survivor is Born,' we were told to forget everything we knew about our action heroine, as Tomb Raider was going to be a...

The Sad De-Evolution...

1131d ago ... I want to start off by saying that I'm 28 years old and that I've been playing videogames for pretty much all my life. You'll understand later why this information is relevant. For as far back as I can remember, it was the late 80s and video games were simple, kid oriented colorful adventures featuring super hero type characters trying to save some kind of world or princess. There were no re...

No guys it's a disappointment. And a HUGE one. * Now tell me who did not expect Sony to unveil PS VITA ? We already knew it was coming. It's not a big deal. Okay, PS VITA is...

Microsoft's E3 Conference

1203d ago ... Modern Warfare 3 demo looked great, but I’m not a huge fan of Modern Warfare or similar games (I like FPS just not the Modern Warfare games), but I must admit this one has me interested. The game looks much better than any game in the franchise thus far, and the scale in the game is on a grander scale. I was impressed. Tomb Raider looked great, and I love the new survival direction they’re...

E3 2011 Microsoft Press Conference

1203d ago ... Ok just watched it via Gamespot since G4TV's website blocked me access since I'm for Australia. Here's my impressions on the event written as I saw them. - Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3... whoopty do! More of the same. Once again they get the DLC first. - Tomb Raider - Quick time events... and it seems to be like Uncharted on first appearance with Resident Evil style quick time events. L...

Uncharted 3 and a general rant about declining creativity/imagination in video games.

1368d ago ... So just a couple of days back uncharted 3 was unleashed upon the gaming community and withing minutes it became it became one of the hottest topics to be discussed throughout the gaming industry. fans of the series were overjoyed, however i remained unfazed, it just didn't excite me in the same way that its predecessor did. WHY? Well when uncharted 1 released a lot of people compared it to t...

Rage/id Software Conference w/ Q&A (feat. NVIDIA 3D) - Eurogamer Expo 2010

1450d ago ... 16.55PM The queue for these conferences have always been huge and today is no exception. People have been queuing at least an hour and a half before the conference is due to start. Luckily our press passes save the day and we are once again in our usual seats on the front row. 17.00PM The room is heaving but before Tim Willits takes the stage, a rep from NVIDIA comes onto stage to present...

Is the PSN store abandoning consumers from other countries?

1541d ago ... Things aren't as equal as the were a year or two ago. Back then, the PSN Store satisfied every country, and the content distributed was always on the fair side. However, it seems that recently the minor differences have become more apparent, but before I tell you about that, I have to tell you about myself. You see, as a kid, games were the newest and coolest way to play. I got my PS1 only days...
