StarDrone is a psychedelic intergalactic pinball game, I think? Its kind of hard to describe this hugely addictive arcade game from BeatShapers. But it very good and loads of fun.
The aim of each level in the game is to collect the stars and do it in as short a time as possible. As the levels progress you also have to collect other objects, small gems, and drag them to a target shape where they will make up pattern, a bigger star for instance – in these levels the smaller stars are collected mainly for bonus points and multipliers. You can replay each level whenever you like to try for a better score. Oh and there are trophies! Are you still with me?
The controls are simple, using the Playstation Move you start each level by pointing the direction your want your Drone to fly in and then you use the static er watchamacallits to sling shot your drone in the direction of the next watchamacallit and so on until you achieve the goal for that level. Think of your little drone as SpiderMan and the watchamacallits as tall buildings; you use your momentum and the wonders of physics and gravity to spin webs to navigate each mini galaxy. That probably didn't help did it? Probably watching the video above will help.
The Trigger button on the Move can be used at any time to pause the game, then point the Move to the next target and hit the Move button. Though the clock will still tick so don't spend too long thinking about your next move. Now your drone is linked by a galactic thread and will swing around at speed. You can control the direction the drone spins by the angle you approach and the speed is also reliant on the distance you pull the Drone away. Release the Move button at just the right time and off you go to the next one.
As you progress, the levels get more tricky and frustrating as the number of perils and enemies on the screen increase. You will find black holes, strange vortex, boosters and enemies that will hover around irritating you and gradually reducing your life/shields and exposing you to the dangers of the galaxy!
StarDrone is very addictive in the “argh almost had it kind of way” as some levels require split second timing.
The 50 levels alos plays in Hi Def and there is talk of a 3D upgrade!
If I had to give this game a score it would be a solid 9/10 (good value for your PSN credits).
Definitely worth £7.99!
