PAIN, what can i say, it's a cool concept.
what you do in the game is rack up points by inflicting as much damage/pain to the avatar as possible. there are other game types like bowling and throwing mimes around.
the characters are hilarious in what they say when flying through the air. you can also have them pose in many different ways by pressing the D-pad and left triggers while in mid-air.
the downside i found so far is that there is only one stage (the city) i don't know how many stages it comes with or if there will be more as DLC but it could bore you if you play too long seeing the same stage and same settings. not to say that PAIN is boring, it's hilariously fun and you will find yourself saying "Ouch!" or "OOOH!" as your character bounces around hitting and breaking things. head on collisions with cars is funny as hell. There is 2 player support and some mini games that you can play. You can also unlock new characters or download new ones as they become available on PSN for download. The physics in the game is pretty good and the rag-doll of the character is good as well. There's many things to try and hit on the stages and it's fun to try to hit certain objects. There is an Ouch mechanic that is used after you hit something that throws the character around a bit to try and hit close by objects to rack up more points. exploding barrels and oncoming traffic helps you continue to break things and when you have nothing around you to break or when the timer runs out then you stop there and try it again to beat your score.
if you want a relaxing slow paced game that will make you laugh and cringe a few times but have a really fun time inflicting as much pain to the character as possible, then this game will suit you well.
Sony and Argentina-based developer QB9 are “reinventing” Pain, first launched on PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network in 2007, as a free-to-play title, Sony announced at its Brazil Game Show today.
hmm cool I guess. never played it before so guess i cna try this version out.
Surprised there is no PS4 and/ or PSV version while they were at it.
But cool, will check it out since its free.
I need some PAIN! Help.
No reason not to give it a try! I am sure my kids will enjoy it immensely!
It was fun... But then I was bomblasted by billions of updates that took freaking weeks to download. I gave up then.
If you’ve never heard or played PAIN, the game essentially gives you a giant slingshot and a character to fling around a giant map filled with random objects to cause pain to your character.
Soooo many memories with this game, please do make a sequel I'll buy it day zero.
Sadly, isn't the only thing left of that studio is some of the senior staff and it's CEO?
Has been a while since I played it. Just haven't felt like - thought of - reinstalling it since replacing my PS3 from YLoD.
i liked pain on ps3 and would like a 2nd one, but i really want a pain game (even a port of the first) for ps vita
Idol Minds is closed. Do not hold your breath for them to develop another PAIN game. Maybe another studio though.
OPM: In a six year console cycle there are always going to be PS3 games that dropped off your radar entirely. Let’s take a look down memory lane at some games that you’ve probably forgotten even existed. Prepare to go ‘Oh *yeah*!’ several times over.
Since, from what I understand, PS4 will be a lot easier to program for, I am hoping we can see a lot more games that dont have a huge budget, but great ideas, come to light. Some of the best PS3 games were smaller titles that just exploded onto the scene. Valkyria Chronicles, LittleBigPlanet, DemonSouls, Folklore, ect.
Im glad Sony has such a big focus on indie games with the PS4
There's a reason why we forget certain games exist, apart from Folklore, that was a very interesting game.
I always say this, despite being a decent game, The Saboteur didn't receive the attention it deserved.
I've bought it and played it. It's fun while playing for 10-15 minutes or while drinking with friends. It's not something that one would play for long periods of time though as it does get repetitive. The downloadable content is BS though. As of now it's just new characters.
BTW ... once you get 1.5 million points, you unlock a new version of the same city level. The premise is that you're coming back after the city has been rebuilt from your carnage. Things are in different places.
I had the most fun trying to break the mirrors in Mime toss.
the OOCH abilities replenish each time a new object is hit, and shaking the controller will put you in "SUPER OOCH" which will move you even more
