Nintendo loves leveraging their fans
29d ago ... The Nintendo Direct conference from earlier this week was packed with a lot of cool announcements. I gotta admit, I was clutching my 3DS with excitement while watching through the entire thing. A new Mario & Luigi RPG?!? Bravely Default officially confirmed for the West?!? A new 3DS Mario Golf (Don't laugh. I'm a big fan of those games)?!? However, this latest Nintendo Direct was yet another in...Play Again?
55d ago ... In the midst of gaming, like with the realm of Hollywood film, many of the games we see come out in this day and age are games that have been made available more than once, on multiple platforms or other such demonstrations of release repetition. To this day, we see many people refer to these releases as "ports," "rereleases" and "remakes." I'm sure there are more terms for it that I have misse...Why Reboots Could Spell The End of Older Franchises.
116d ago ... It should come as no surprise the subject that got me to write this blog. DmC of course. But I'm not even going to talk about the actual game itself, instead I'm going to talk about the concept of a reboot (necessary or not) and why developers like Capcom are lying through their teeth. Reboots have been used in all mediums as a way of reintroducing a formerly (or in some cases still currentl...Devil May Cry and Your Cognitive Dissonance
124d ago ... People hate when someone decides to mess with things they love. Many frown upon the Star Wars Prequel trilogy, others upon the 4th Indiana Jones movie and there are plenty of people who simply hate the DVD re-release of E.T. (I'm sure there are examples that are not related to Lucas and Spielberg as well) Why wouldn't we? Why would someone mess with the stuff that we already approve of? Why can...What survival horror means to me
148d ago ... A lot of fans hate RE6. I'm not one of them. I've played, beaten and love the game for the original ideas that it puts forward. Now, as a fan myself I can see where the hate stems from: Capcom going back on their promise to go back to survival horror. I don't quite remember whether or not Capcom stated RE6 would "go back to the series' roots", but if they did, they weren't lying; they just fail...Resident Evil 6: A True Horror Story
225d ago ... Just to clear it up for those that don't appreciate irony, the horror of Resident evil is not the exquisite dialog and compelling story line. It's the fact that put quite simply, this game absolutely sucks. I apologise in advance for the rant. But the quality of game play alone is completely below par, so much that even attempting the Chris or Jake play through's are nothing more than a sad...Resident Evil Reset
225d ago ... There comes a time in a franchises life when one of it's sequels released becomes such a huge success, in not only the franchises history but in gamings as well that the only place the franchise can go next is down. Resident Evil 4 was released in January 2005, the game reached universal critical acclaim for it's fresh take on the series and new direction it had taken, back then though revie...Top reasons why DmC is going in the wrong direction.
292d ago ... It's been a while since the new Devil May Cry named "DmC" has been announced and trailers, interviews and all kinds of articles have been fairly abundant this year. It's been quite the topic of discussion for fans of the established franchise, with the majority being against the work that Ninja Theory has been doing with CAPCOM. While the game slowly nears its release next year, it can still...Dragon’s Dogma Demo Impressions
384d ago ... Dragon’s Dogma is an epic new game from Capcom that is set to release May 22, 2012. The demo was recently released on PSN and XBOX live this week and I have gotten the chance to try the demo for myself. I consider myself a hardcore RPG fan and enjoy the genre more then any other. When the game was first announced, I saw “RPG” and “Capcom” and immediately thought that, while Capcom specializes i...Resident Evil Revelations and Monster Hunter 4 and the "let's port this" complex
480d ago ... Lately with the approaching release of Resident Evil Revelations for 3DS I have heard this comment quite a few times: " When's the Vita port coming out?". This seems kind of annoying. Why are Vita gamers assuming that games like this are coming to the Vita at all? It's not that I don't like the Vita but the mentality has got to stop. In my internet travels I have only seen this rule apply to Ni...Jumping to Conclusions About Resident Evil 6 Co-Op
481d ago ... Today a bit of news was revealed about Resident Evil 6. The website "Gamerzine" has a tidbit article about 6 player Co-op in Resident Evil 6. The news is currently on the front page. The article states, and I quote: "According to the listing, between 2-6 players can jump into the game's online co-op mode, with offline split-screen co-op restricted to two players. At this stage, it's unkn...What Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Should've Been
492d ago ... It is so easy to knock the final product of what dozens, perhaps hundreds of individuals put their blood, sweat and tears into. Whether intentional or incidental, those who decide to release a product to a market are liable to having their product reviewed, praised, demerited, hated, loved and everything in between. This is definitely one of those very times. Fret not, as I have no interest in...Capcom's Descent Into Destruction...
493d ago ... As of late CAPCOM has been making gaming news, but for all the wrong reasons! There are many fans who simply dislike the companies over use of DLC and constant re-packaging of previously released titles (i.e. Marvel Vs Capcom 3, which is now Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3) in an effort to get more money. Then there are those who dislike the fact, that Capcom is single handedly destroying it's flag...Collectors Editions' of Future Games
507d ago ... So I was looking at some future games that I want and was wondering, "Hey I wonder if these company's know what we want in collectors edition of games and know if we want them." So here are the 5 games I would like to see get collector's editions and what I would like to see in them. 1)The Last Guardian This is a game that Sony can make a limited amount of collector's editions and know th...Sega Dreamcast : the pain and the heartbreak
630d ago ... The Sega Dreamcast represents many different things to many different gamers. To the casual gamer or younger gamer the Dreamcast is some strange anomaly that "the Elder Gamers" speak of. To the truly hardcore gamer the Dreamcast represents the the last of the true harcore gaming consoles. The underdog console that COULD and did so many things right in oh so many ways. It did incredi...Expansions: When is it an actual expansion, and when is it just hyped DLC?
667d ago ... With the news of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 being announced, and it being consider a "re-release" of MvC3 (or basically a release of the FINISHED MvC3), a lot of news about how Capcom and other devs like to leave out content for future release has been popping up. Many gamers are continuing to show disdain and anger, and rightly so, to companies like Capcom for pulling stunts like this, and...To Anon & Sony
771d ago ... My name is Dan, pleased to meet you. We are not Anonymous. We are The Gamers. Our core goals aren't political nor aesthetic. We did not ask to be pushed into GNU vs Proprietary wars. We just want to own the hardware and buy the software at lower, reasonable prices, preferably paid directly and/or mostly to the developers. We don't feel the need to hide. We won't put up anymore wi...The Wait...
828d ago ... Ah the wait. One of the hardest things for gamers to deal with. The excitement builds up, the media blitz campaign hits, and it's like you are surrounded by awesome with no way out. The problem? The game still isn't out and you're just left with this longing to be together like Batman to Robin, or Jack to Rose aboard the Titanic. In less than a week Marvel vs Capcom 3 Fate of Two Worlds come...Less is better?
832d ago ... A recent trend in games I've really been not a fan of is "stream lining" the experience. This seems to be the phrase developers drop in interviews when they remove features fans loved in their last iteration of a franchise. A perfect example is Mass Effect 2 removing a LARGE amount of the customization options with weapons and armor that ME1 had. Why? If Bioware really wanted to streamline t...Accessibility in fighting games
833d ago ... Recently I keep seeing the topic of accessibility come up within the fighting game community. Players who are hardcore invested in the scene being turned off by the idea of simple mode control schemes, short cut input controls such as Street Fighter 4's, and lowering the threshold for things like teching throws. Personally it seems like both a step in the right and the wrong direction. Yes f...
