Microsoft is selling nearly twice as much dollars worth of games for the Xbox 360 as Sony is for the PS3, an enormous advantage. This is the true measure of the success of the Microsoft Xbox 360.

Nintendo's DS and Sony's PSP are like oil and water. So why does everyone attempt to mix them together? Awards shows give out "best portable game" trophies, the NPD blends all portable consoles in its Top 10 lists, and all-purpose gaming publications throw them together in the year-end wrapups.

I Blew Off Final Fantasy, True Story

PC World writes: I blew off Final Fantasy for the Nintendo Entertainment System, without apologies, for almost two decades. Not because I hate roleplaying games, or random encounters, or, you know, Japan. No, I took a pass because at the time, and from a distance, the game screamed Ultima-for-dummies, i.e. a super-simple roleplaying experience for kids who hadn't laid eyes or fingers on an Apple II, Commodore 64, or Intel 386, much less roleplaying big-leaguers like Bard's Tale, Wizardry, and SSI's Gold Box series.

That's my (sorry) excuse for jilting the maiden installment in the bestselling roleplaying series going.

And after finally playing the PSP remake, it seems I got it wrong.

PSP Takes Sales Licking in November

IGN: The NPD Group on Thursday released November videogame software and hardware sales figures and just about every system saw a massive surge in units purchased. Consumers gobbled up more than a 1.2 million Wii consoles, 820,000 Xbox 360s, 710,000 PlayStation 3s and a whopping 1.7 million DS handhelds during the busy month. Unfortunately for Sony, shoppers were not similarly inspired to invest in more PSPs, even with the publisher's new Go on the market. Only 293,000 PSPs in total were taken home in November, according to NPD.

PS3 Owners: "Give Us Backwards Compatibility Back!"

The poll which GameStooge has been running since August has shown what Sony gamers want most: restoration of PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility.

Of course, that's not going to happen, since Sony would rather you either buy a PS2 or perhaps buy PS2 games from the PlayStation Store, or have you buy stuff like God of War Collection with "HD graphics!" when the original PS3 upscaled games, making God of War 2, for example, look gorgeous.

It isn't just PlayStation 3 owners – all gamers want backwards compat. Xbox 360 owners like being able to play Halo 2 or Knights of the Old Republic, for instance, while Wii owners? They can play all GameCube games right from the start (though maybe there's a reason for that.)

$100 PS3 price drop did it for me: 9%
Restore PS2 back compat: 32%
Drop game prices by $10: 24%
Give PS4 release date: 12%
Another PS3 price cut: 15%
Drop PSP Go price by $100: 8%
