Off the Grid: The Legend of Dragoon

Dualshockers writes:

[Off the grid is a weekly column focusing on titles that may have flown under many people's radar at the time of release, for whatever reason. Usually the titles have some redeeming quality and weren't just overlooked because they were horrible games.]

The late '90s was prime-time for the Final Fantasy franchise. Between 1997 and 2001 four Final Fantasy titles were released. There was so much Final Fantasy goodness hitting our PlayStations that we hardly had time to think of any other RPGs. Those two words were so ingrained in our brains that, to the uninitiated RPG fan, there were no others. But, if you looked beyond those titles, there were some great RPGs to discover, and one of them is The Legend of Dragoon.

Most underrated RPG of all time. Sony needs to make a sequel already but there's no support. Cult classic forever. SPINNING CANE!

It's an all-time classic. I played 35 hours in it in the space of a weekend. I hope that Sony makes it available to us RPG fans.

This game was just as good as FF7 & FF8 which released around the same time. Been waiting on the sequel every since... So somebody needs to get to work and make it happen. I've got $60 ready to the first dev who makes my dream a reality.

I so wish Sony would put Legend of Dragoon on PSN. Plus I so want a Legend of Dragoon 2. I would really enjoy playing LoD again and if it could lead up to LoD2 that would be great.

Best underrated game ever! I recently picked up the greatest edition since my original is kinda messed up :( Although i'd love a squeal, the ending was kinda perfect.

Ah, i forgot the 32 item limit. Stupid, but ok, it was an extra challenge! I miss this game, I need it on PSN so that I can play it again (My little brother broke the two first disks...)

This was the first RPG I played too. Sony should do a remake or a prequel with the dragon campaign.

This is still my fave rpg to this day. I really can't see why it hasn't been released on PSN yet. It's a PSone greatest hit and it's aged pretty well.

12 - Still the BEST!!
I still own this game and consider it to still be in the top 3 RPG's of all time. It spans 4 discs and I remember actually wishing that there was a fifth. The author was right when he said that alot of the aspects of the game would be better axcepted in todays standards. I found the combat to be the best part of the game. You could not have to enter a command and watch it happen but you had to also enter a memorized set of timed button presses for greater damage. Sometimes a battle depended on you getting them right and each characters were different in order and timing. Fantastic game and I have always wished for a sequel. STILL PRAYING!!

15 - What a game...
It's just amazing... this game proves that popularity does not equal greatness.. I would LOVE to see a sequel.
