Can Call of Duty: MW2 beat Uncharted 2 to achieve the best graphics of 2009?

I like Ratchet and Clank graphics more than Uncharted
I like Brutal Legend graphics more than Uncharted
I like Gears of War graphics more than Uncharted

For me graphics are not just about photo realism, but what the artist does to the game that makes it appealing.

It's not about how many polygons it pushes or what engine it uses. Those that say the game is better cuz it pushes more polygons or is using an older engine are missing the point IMO.

I didn't drink the Uncharted coolaid. I played the game, enjoyed it and moved on. I still don't think is GoTY until I see Assassins Creed 2 and MW2.

I will probably loose all my bubbles for disagreeing. But my post was to see if people here on n4g shut users up for silly opinions or actual debates.

Couldn't care less about the agree/disagrees, the bubble system is what annoys me on n4g.

Though I don't agree with his preferences, I can appreciate his standpoint. Pixels don't make the gfx, it's the effects, the amount of details, the lighting, etc. I still think COD4 is a beautiful game, even after seeing and playing games which are considered better looking by the gaming populace.

One of the most beautiful games I've ever seen is KZ2. To me, what made KZ2 so impressive wasn't the pixels, but the lighting, use (or not-use) of colors, animations and overall effects (like wind etc).

MW2 and UC2 are very different in their aesthetics, one goes for ultrarealism, while the other goes for a slightly cartoony look, comparing them is kind of silly tbh. Generally I prefer the ones that go for realism, but UC2 blew me away. In the end, it all boils down to taste.

uncharted 2 is not "graphically real"...it's cartoonish!the thing i like more of that graphic are the colors and the light!it's really something lost this gen, it was all dark in games like killzone 2, Gears, resistance etc..
anyway you have your opinion and i have mine..

OK i'll waste my last bubble to explain what I consider to be good graphics. I'll probably lose it anyways.

Good example for me is Brutal Legend. The game is goofy looking, with the head bangers, the out of proportion body of Eddie Rigs and the over exaggerated facial expressions.

But for me the game didn't miss anything in terms of graphics. I loved stopping to see the worlds colors, how they created album covers into real monuments and the voice over with facial expressions where top notch.

I enjoyed every minute of it graphically. It had its issues with popins and screen tearing but the graphics and gameplay where there.

Same thing with Gears of War. It might all be dark colors and browns but the artist made the world really engaging for me.

So from my point of view I think MW2 can beat Uncharted. I'm not saying UC2 graphics are bad, it's an impressive game, but for me the other games I played had a lasting appeal in terms of me going aaaaaaaaaah that looks bad ass.

I agree with you for the most part.

I absolutely love the lighting in most games and it's the one thing that catches my eye the most. Color is a plus too, a big plus.

I'm tired of all the grey and bleh in games. I want vibrant colors with second to none lighting. Some say U2 was cartoonish...well if you want cartoonish then I suggest you take a look at R&C Future: ACiT.

Artistic design in games are great but only if you make them pop.

To be fair, the Uncharted engine is also 2yrs old. Not sure if that puts MW2 in a deeper hole, but you get my point.

u2 engine has been refined a lot!it could be seen as a new engine as ND worked hard to improve it...that cannot be said for IW:they could have done it but they didn't..why?i think it's laziness!they know the game will sell like hot cakes even if it is MW with new maps and slightly improved gameplay...the game will be good but i think it's like what bungie and microsoft did with halo:odst!
i will get lot of disagrees but that is my opinion..

I feel you and I have all 3 games MW2 on 360 but I still see UC2 as the clear victor. RE5 looks good but its dark and there's like 3 colors in the game. Small areas to look at, tight caves, its not a technical feet at all. I could go on an on but I wont. Good day sir.

Doesn't look just as good, Unreal engine has aged. Uncharted 2 is pretty much the new graphics king on consoles. Before that it was Killzone 2.

1) Wii Fit has sold over 22.5 million copies, what's your point?

Sales =/= a good game.

2) Besides, Uncharted 2 is selling just fine. Over 1 million sales in the first week, and many people such as myself got it after.

Don't get me wrong, I love Gears, and it is testament that good games do sell well, but the fact you've previously gloated about ODST sales figures over PS3 figures show your console preferences. You probably shouldn't comment on whether or not a game is good if you don't have the capacity to play it.
