I was just looking at the American preorder chart, and the numbers seemed strange. I am comparing the number of PS3 preorders to the number of 360 preorders, as a percentage:

Modern Warfare 2 – 38%
Dragon Age: Origins – 54%
Assassin's Creed II – 69%
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – 88%
Tony Hawk: Ride – 89%

every game that comes out on the ps3 doesnt sell as well as it should and all the ps3 idiots do is come in here and put spin on why they dont play games. it took uncharted practically a month to get 1 mil in sales... not very good considering the quality of the game and all the talk you morons do. killzone flopped, mag is garbage, so what do you have that 360 doesnt? a bunch of half assed exclusives that no one buys. there are like 3 or 4 awesome games on the ps3 and after that just a bunch of fluff that fanboys brag about but dont play. at least the 360 community plays the games that come out. ps3 fanboys wonder why companies give them less support.

you can wait for mag it you want, but have fun playing with a pretty barren community, cause the game sucks bad. a lot of hype for nothing, but hey its a ps3 game, so i expect the overhype

I know I'm not stupid (as Hoggy likes to PM about), uninitiated about EVERY single characteristic of "British English" perhaps, but definitely not stupid. Trust me, I'm more educated on it than many of my fellow Americans, and I am man enough to admit a wrong, so I guess I stand corrected. Doesn't mean anything to me that I'm not perfect, I knew that, no eye-opening revelation there. Exposure is different from intelligence, and anyone here who truly is intelligent will know that.

Provided there was no sarcasm hidden in your post, I commend you for your courtesy. We can only be aware of what we've experienced and learned from.

yes, I'm fully briefed on how you over the pond use an "s" in place of a "z" in many words. I could list literally hundreds of differences I've noticed in writings, literature, and slang, but this "abbreviation" slipped by. I've never been to Europe, let alone England, and conversely, I'm betting you over there couldn't pick out every nuance in our "bastardized" language. I'm sure it's a forgivable transgression.

Ahh here we go again. PS3 gamers have a vast amount of games to play at the moment. Sure, we like our MW2 but theres just a bunch of other games out there to play right now too.

Like right now I'm too busy with Tekken 6, Uncharted 2, and Ratchet & Clank:ACIT. I'm also looking into Demons Souls and a few other games. So for me, MW2 can on hold on for a while. Plus, I need more monies :P

I guess most 360 owners just need to play MW2 right away because they don't have as many games to play right now???

Here's the problem with that argument; PS3 gamers don't even buy many of the exclusives so it's not just multiplatform games. Even the exclusive titles underwhelm at retail.

I was not one who disagreed with you, but stating your opinion as a "cold hard fact" doesn't make you look any more knowledgable.

And to answer the question put forth by the article, no I do not. The Call of Duty franchise, from what I have played of both 4 & 5, is a mediocre franchise at best. So many better shooting games out there right now and, with Bad Company 2 coming and Borderlands on the way, I have lost all interest in the series. Not to add insult to injury, but World at War was a joke.

Stan-you aren't half searching there fella. The thing with this persentage is that it ISN'T far below that of what you'd think it should be, is it?

These are US figures and with there being, arguably, just over or just under twice as many 360 gamers in the US we can expect an share of 45% to 55% if just as many PS3 owners per hungred get the game preordered as 360 gamers, no??

And this says, what, near 40%? When, and whatever you say Stan a lot of PS3 owners will be getting or have got one or two of DS,R&C, U2 AND some of the multis available too, reasonable? 360 gamers DO have a tendency to be FPS fans because, partly, so many are Halo fans and also there's just been fewer games for that shooter demographic and 360 in general of late than PS3 has had this year and of late. I know for a fact I haven't bought a lot for my 360 this year compared to my PS3.

Then we're back to this being a VERY small way off what we could expect IFMW2 was as popular among PS3 owners in any case and as FPS isn't the priority for as many PS3 gamers in the first place I just don't see ANY kind of surprise or story in the numbers here. It can't be overstated how much better shooters ssell on 360-it's a demographic thing and that's that. The other things merely add to it a touch.

IMO, and it explains everything considering, as he said, the attach rates...sheesh, there may be many gamers who have only so much money to spend, and with like half a dozen exclusives this year that were easily must buys, it makes sense, how else would you explain the nearly identical attach rates when calculating the time each console has spent on the market? You can't, that's how. Variety.

so 360 people have to play this game right now but PS3 people have ALL sorts of games right now... but 98% of this site is PS3 users and most of all of the inputs are from ps3 fanboys... so...... if you think about it... none of the ps3 people are playing ALL those games you speak of but only 2% comments on this site come from xbox users SO it would be safe to assume that the XBOX360 USERS are the ones that are really playing ALL the games and the ps3 users are SITTING ON THIS SITE COMMENTING ON CRAP.... thank you ver much

well the only explaination i could think of are all those exclusive that just came out. Now im not saying everyone doesn'y have money, but i mean im sure allot of people went ahead and bought other games. Theer are just 2 many games to get from, i mean last month alone sony released like 3 exclusive game? or 4? and then this month is GOW collection, and 2 big Multiplat games. I'm personally out of money after buying R&C, DS, Unchareted 2, an NGS2. I do have money only left for the GOW collection.
Compare to th 360 though, they only have a few Exclusive, most of them are swarming over to CODMW2.

yea, no one can deny the fact that the exclusives of PS3 is one of the reasons that PS3 owners won't buy MW2. either they only have time to play games like Uncharted 2, Ratchet & Clank:ACIT, Demons Souls etc or because they have no disposable income left to buy more games.

Im buying it and i know it will be great only cos i love the gameplay and kinda feel ripped off cos its not that big of an improvement on MW which the devs make it out to be by saying we started from scratch.

anyways the game will be same on both consoles, i don't care about those features that XBL has over PSN.

I think it is purely based on the fact that PS3 owners have more games to play, that are not multiplat.

This year already we have had some great exclusives, Killzone 2, Infamous, U2 and more - it just means that some multiplats get pushed aside a bit

I'll be buying MW2, but it won't be my sole focus as I have Uncharted 2, still have KZ2 multiplayer and am in the MAG beta

Honestly and frankly I think its because PS3 owners are doing exactly what 360 fanboys want them to do: not buying multiplatform titles because their best version is on the 360.

Something I'm sure the devs and publishers of those games want, even though they only put half of an effort into them.

Meh, I'm about to go broke because Amazon's giving an excuse to get Demon Souls when I just ordered Ratchet and Clank.

What's surprising me it that Tony Hawk's ride has more pre-orders.

Still MW2 PS3 preorders are racking up about 700K preordes, it's clearly a bestseller on the PS3, the "problem" is the xbox360 version is almost 3 times. This only shows how big is the FPS genre among the xbox360 fanbase.

i don't think the COD series is anything special. i rented COD4 and was unimpressed. maybe if i was a hardcore into MP; i might see things differently. as it stands, MW2 looks like another FPS and nothing more.

i won't be buying because FOR ME, the game isn't worth it.

I've got better games to play then a rehashed COD4 MW. To many exclusives not enough time. Being laid off has hurt my financial situation but I'm about 2 games from having no backlog after 4 years of 10+ games waiting to start much less finish.

It's a comparison to the number of pre-orders of the 360 versions... Over 100% means there are more pre -orders of the PS3 version.

If 360 has 10 and PS3 has 5 it's a 50%. If 360 has 10 and PS3 has 11 it's 110%.

Not the most clear statistics, but justified for being such comparison.
