Lost In Translation: Splinter Cell Conviction Possible on PS3

According to a Finnish gamer on the PS3Forums, he claims, "Well that's pretty faulty translation. The dev never says, that the game wouldn't be possible on the ps3. He only states that IF they would have gone multiplatform, they would have to change the lightning effects radically because of the differences of coding for each consoles. He actually says nothing bad about the PS3."

One sissy 360 fanboy posted and article about Splinter Cell not running on the PS3. Which doesn't even matter because the PS3 won't even see this game. Then another sissy fanboy posted this article to offset the other. While at the same time nobody really gives a flip and it will not increase Sony's sale or lose sales for the 360. Back in high school we used to call these pee pee wars. It's just unfortunate that it puts the credibility of this site and it's users in the toilet..

This would be just as doable on the ps3 as the last Splinter cell 4 was, in other words, like yesterdays article said, "Not Doable" atleast not pretty anyways. Facts are facts. When a ps3 game comes out that even looks kind of next gen. theirs always a sacrifice to it somewhere to allow any good graphics to come through.

Look at every game and you'll see it, R-FOM, Motorstorm, Lair....they all suffer the same 3 things.

let the ps3 do what it does best, folding @ home, ......just not video games.

And what about the sacrifices made for Gears. Stuff had to be cut to fit it on a DVD. Amount of characters on screen.

There are sacrifices for all platforms. The translation...says that there would have to be some changes to the code etc...which is pretty obvious. If it's to do with lighting...well then there are games on the PS3 which have amazing lighting...eg. HS, Motorstorm.

trust me both games wont look the same on both system, Cell is way different from the xbox360's CPU and thus some games wont be able to be done unless they code it just for that system and since both system arent exactly the same to the bone, it is possible to see some games cant be done on a certain system, so basically Wii can do any game exact like what xbox360 and PS3 can do, I dont think so. Example if the Cell is made to handle a certain amount of AI calculations then it wont look as good as it would on the 360 since the CPU isnt made for intense calculations. As for graphics both are pretty even.

We know for a FACT that Lair can't be done on the 360. As far as graphics go, yes...but the draw-distance and physics would have to undergo massive changes...

MGS4 may be possible...but there's no telling how many discs Hideo would have to use.

Cell beats xb360's cpu not only in calculations, but also in it's ability to do graphics. Xb360 has a General Purpose CPU. Which doesn't have a lot to do with gaming, except maybe for AI.

What amazes me is that everytime something negative comes from the devs regarding the PS3, there's always some mysterious blogger or what have you running to the rescue for damage control. It's become very obvious in this generation that us gamers have the ball on our side of the court. When ever any news gets blown out of proportion, someone behind the scenes of these companies reads the forums like the daily newspaper, and they will do anything to convince us gamers that something was perhaps either translated wrong or re-word quotes entirely. If our opinion as gamers matter this much, then we need to focus most of that negative energy towards our favorite hardware companies, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony respectively. We need to express our anger more about why certain mediocre games make it to retail carrying the $59.99 price tag, why some games are released with so many bugs just because the devs were trying to target a release date, why some of the best games don't get well deserved sequels, why are so many games trying to look like another games art style instead of following the beat of its own drum. My whole point is if you own a 360, PS3, or Wii, then support that console by demanding the games that you want and stop all the flame wars about which console you next door neighbor has. Us 360 owners have Halo, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and a bunch of other titles that makes the Xbox community a home for its fans. The PS3 has God of War, the best Final Fantasies, Metal Gear games... so far, and they have become common place for the Sony community. And Nintendo has...er...well Nintendo has Mario starring in every genre there is except a first person shooter, but if that's what you like, I'm not mad at you. Well I'm sure you guys get my point. Splinter Cell Conviction is probably temporarily going to be an exclusive because the devs find the 360 hardware easy to develop for and that's just the way it is. Square gave us the left-overs of Final Fantasy online and thought it was worthy of next gen status. Now that's something to be mad about.

I Especially agree that us gamers need to look at the fact that games this gen are going to become more and more buggy. Its happening already. And we are all getting used to waiting for "Patches". This I fear alot and its due mostly to the fact that consoles are now "Connected" to the net.

Consoles are supposed to be easy to use and the games should just work out the box (Wii is good at this, but sorry folks, its not next gen in my eye). They are getting more and more "PC" in nature. Updated firmware (Which has been bricking some Xbox 360 consoles, apparently. Last falls update caused mine to Ring of Death, then I reset it and it was fine)...patches for games, and more patches to fix the patches.. even "addons" that should have been there in the first place! (Looking at you Motorstorm, great game, just not finished).

Anyway..

As far as Splinter Cell goes... Anyone remember the very first version? It was Xbox "Exclusive" way back when PS2 was becoming king (Later appearing on other formats as the series developed). Maybe the developers just like Xbox/Xbox 360 Architecture... Is that such a big deal?

Look at MGS3... that appeared on Xbox. Are you all going to have a fit if MGS4 appears on Xbox 360? I know im not. These days devs need to go multi platform because development costs are going nuts! So it makes sense. And maybe some day soon Trip Hawkins' Idea of a single format will become a reality (I hope not, but it looks to be heading that way)

BTW, Im new here.. I Own a PS3 (I sold my 360 to fund, it... not because I hated it, just don't have loads of money).
