Yeah.. not interested at 13 bucks a pop.. that's asking too much, even though the die-hard nerds are going to chew these things up... I consider mysel a hard core Nintendo guy, but there's no way I'm spending that much on some toys..... Nintendo is marketing them as "bring them over to your buddys house and battle", but Wii Us install base is so small, that personally, not alot o my riends own a wii U...

As far as price goes, For 13 bucks I'll buy a couple. Yes, kinda high, but 13 bucks really isn't a surprising price range nor too high for casuals or collectors. What did you expect it to cost with the tech inside it?

the "tech" inside these are just NFC tags which can be bought for about $1.10 a piece on Amazon, I would imagine Nintendo gets them for pennies since they buy in bulk, straight from the source.

Worst part is people don't think they'll get sucked into anything but next year Nintendo will most likely come out with more alongside characters they've released first but in different poses and they'll eat it up. I bet there is people here who has called Disney Infinity toys and Skylanders but this is totally fine.

I expected them for 19.99 a pop so these are pretty inexpensive in my eyes. Preordering Link and samus tomorrow. I don't really mind if they aren't terribly utilized. They are nintendo made figures. Nice size and detail. I want it for decoration. Plus, I expect these things are gonna be very collectable.

I think the most important thing we need to know is what the *** do these things do. Yes the figures themselves look pretty awesome and I wouldnt mind just having it on my desk as a collectors item. But so far we know in Smash we can use it as some sort of CPU that represents us in fights ? Why would anyone really want that, dont you want to fight yourself ?

And I still dont know how other games are going to use it. What possible purpose could these toys serve in a game like Mario Kart 8 ? If they want these to be successful they need to show more details and be transparent with the consumer. At the moment Im not sold at all.

They simply store data...They are practically figurines with an ID tag. So games can identify which figurine it is. Hypothetically a game that detects you have put Samus near the gamepad could give you a plasma gun in game ( it really comes down to what the gamedeveloper does with it ). Or even unlock a character.

Everything else is a memory card... lol That's it. I'm sure it can only hold data for one game though.

Nintendo have done a TERRIBLE job explaining how these will be used. If the die hard fans are scratching their heads, consumers will be lost. Which figures work with which games, how does the Starfox figure work in Captain Toads game? Or with Mario Kart? Why do they have SSMB logos on them? Will they release figures with Mario Kart logos? How do they 'work' with the games? Can they only store data for one game? Nobody seems to know, and the scant details provided are slim at best.

Also it is a HORRID name. Someone needs to speak up in these product meetings. Wii U, Amiibo, New 3DS. Come on Nintendo you can do better.

I would gladly get the Link or Samus figure to have as a desk decoration. If amiibos take of which they will, Nintendo is definitely going to make alot more and these first additions are going to be worth alot down the road.

The price is right. Highly detailed, works across multiple games. I would pay this price just for the figure it's self to be honest.
