Gaming culture takes a hit as Sony demos its virtual reality headset with schoolgirl leering sim

RN24: If, like me, you’ve dreamed of the day when the world comes to realise that video games are so much more than the pastime of Call of Duty-obsessed teens and neck-bearded basement dwellers, the arrival of mature, genuinely evocative titles such as last year’s Gone Home and The Last of Us will no doubt have sparked excitement that the dream is almost a reality. With games that are no longer afraid to broach any number of mature themes and issues, and in some cases even have the power to make players cry, non-gamers may one day soon–instead of scoffing at the images displayed our on screens as they pass by–actually want to sit down and watch, caught up in the scenes unfolding before them.

Unless, of course, the images on that screen are anything like those from the newest tech demo for Sony’s virtual reality headset, Summer Lesson, which looks to be mostly about leering at a schoolgirl in her bedroom while pretending to study.

Awful substandard blog jumping on the White Knight bandwagon failing to realise the xenophobia of his attitude towards Japanese people.

Just wait... now millions of unsuspecting perverts will be caught wanking, and won't even know it because they can't see or hear who just walked into the room.

I loved Sony's presentation. Clearly Japan doesn't give a shit about the Pro-idiot movement. I love that the head of the Japanese studio was like hey we are making these Pink Vitas and they are being marketed towards women. And this demo for the VR stuff was super awesome. Glad to see that Japanese developers aren't letting the pro-idiot movement get in their way.

I love Japanese culture, doesn't mean I have to like the weird perverted stuff. There's a machine that looks like a bent over ass and random dudes come up and fuck it. Look it up, no lie. Also love anime, I want a new season of Steins Gate now!
Oh and don't call me prude, girls wearing cat ears is soo cute its retarded. Just in my opinion, the ass fucking machines, and buying girls used panties is a tad much. But who am I to say.

That's what the Move will be used for!

I knew as soon as this video was shown, that some too sensative people would have a problem with it. There are mature themes in all forms of entertainment. Video games aren't just for kids anymore. Hasn't been for some time now.

Haha you nailed it. +funny bubble

our_games_are_art3516d ago

whoa that looked amazing ! Though I do I see the authors point, I believe sony may have just been working with what their presummed audience would've been impressed by. Because when I think japan I think businessman and horny teenage gamers. plus I'd love to play a slice of life type of game on vr I'd be lying if I said I had no interest

That Demo is targeted for Japan, are you new to the internet? That is nothing compared to what Japan usually does.

Attached are videos Japanese Oculus Rift game. Its basically an anime chick stomping on your face. Don't ask, just Japan never fails to disappointed

There is room for everything and everyone, even perverts. Stop trying to censor video games.

Business as usual for Japanese culture. Some Japan only games are crazy creepy.

I'm so hyped for more and more games in VR. The immersion and experience has trumped traditional gaming so soon in VRs infancy for me, and I've been gaming for 30 years. The games and the gameplay will grow, and very fast as all the thrills, excitement, etc. a gamer feels is multiplied in VR.

Iv'e been saying it as a youngster with console gaming..."Cain't wait to see how gaming is in 3,5,10 years". Them words have never been so relevant when applied to VR
