Titanfall has always been fun to play but it still suffers from a lack lore and context.

I think they should have kept the Titans "Ogre and Strider" as burn cards only, like in the beta. It made it so exciting when you finally got one.

The game is absolutely awesome as is, but I do think that having a loot element that powerful definitely makes you want to play more to earn that reward.

I don't know that a vs multiplayer game rally needs much context. I mean, what's the context behind counter strike?

When you think about it, titan fall has more supportive lore than similarly positioned mp only shooters...

Kornholic3533d ago

Your comparison with CSGO brings up a valid question. What is the context behind Counter-Strike? I like to think the highly competetive nature of the game is the context. As much as I like Titanfall, it lacks a certain kind of competetiveness that makes multiplayer intriguing. CSGO has this element.

I wish Titanfall was just a tad more "difficult", because now it's almost too easy to dominate a match if you are familiar with the fps genre.

mhunterjr3533d ago

That's debatable, but I think the author was speaking more along the lines of a narrative behind the conflict.

Titan falls narrative, while weak, is actually stronger than most MP only titles.

And when you think about MP rarely ever 'makes sense.' In goldeneye, why is everyone in a siloh shooting at friend and foe alike? What's the premise behind the original quake games? People just play the games because they are fun, and don't really concern themselves with the context.

If he means a good campaign story i would agree. Online he's wrong Titanfall has more than enough content.

cruzngta3533d ago

Thats cuz there is no single player campaign - it has a good story and a kick ass campaign could have been done but the devs wanted to ship and sell the online only craze that we seem to have today. It is still fun as hell and I love it for the online but a real interesting campaign would have made it a better overall package.

I think it all depends on the campaign mode. If its like cod or bf campaign that you get about 4 to 6 hours out of ide rather just have a MP game.

Titan fall is a great MP game I've not really hammered it the way I thought I would but that is because I have less time to game now and too many games to get through. I did play titan fall for the first time in a few months yesterday and I really enjoyed the match where you have one person on each team as a target which I've not played before so it was nice to see new content in the game to when I last played it.

All titanfall needs is a few new modes and its all good. Its an already fun experience though.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."

Physical media. Unfortunately the way games are going these days game servers will eventually be shut down and you can stare at the menu and wish you could play the game again.

littletad872d ago

This is why reading is so important. Nothing to do with digital or physical media. The game, which is online only, is being delisted because of DDOS and other hacker attacks. The case got so bad that only six players in the world log on. For PC. Rather than fix it, they continued to sell the game, broken as it is, and only now just decided to call it quits. But please, go on thinking what you will.

Ethereal870d ago

I'm aware of the DDOS attacks and that this case is not typical. This game would eventually have it's servers shutdown regardless of the current situation so that is a moot point. My comment was in a general sense and that there are instances in which games can be preserved physically when official support ends.

Let's recap your first sentence. I said, "the way GAMES are going these days" indicating a broader stroke than just this game. I agree, reading IS important. I was simply stating the obvious downsides of the digital marketplaces and online only trends in games these days. I could even make the argument that the online only offering which has allowed hacker manipulation has impacted the preservation of this great game. My comment is valid in the general sense and thank you for your permission to continue to think what I will.
