I hope so. The first game...well, it wasn't great, but there's plenty of potential there. I think they need to really look at the roster when planning a second game. I've heard that the most recent update fixes tons of balancing issues, which is a good sign that they realize some of what was massively wrong with that game.

mcstorm3520d ago

I don't think we will se another one and I think its the same with MNR and LBP carting. Out of the 3 games I thought MNR was the most fun and closest to Mario Kart game I've played but had its own twists too it.

As for PSASBR I though it played better on the psv than the ps3 for some reason but it just felt like a half assed game a there was not really many game modes to it and with the sales being low for it the online side dropped quickly too.

I thin it was good o Sony to try and male games like this but I don't think we will see a number 2 of them.

For m id like to see them keep giving us new and fresh ideas like they did with LBP rather than try an copy Super smash bros or Mario Kart.

GuruStarr783520d ago

Yeah, Sony needs a karting game.. I really enjoyed MNR (the ps3 version, the vita version was meh).

I hope we see a decent karting game on ps4, I know we'll probably get a sonic kart game, but I'd like to see sony put one out as well.

sinncross3520d ago

I hope there will be. Just needs a slightly bigger budget and a developer with pedigree (I think SB being brand new made it difficult for 3rd party devs to commit to giving a character).

I enjoyed the first game.

StormLegend3520d ago

I hope so as well and will be enjoying the first one in September :D

Dualshockers_Carlos3520d ago

PS Plus eh?

The game was fun but it kinda came and went.

chobit_A5HL3Y3520d ago

as is the case with most games~

SmokingMonkey3520d ago

Not hard to platinum either!

As usual the online trophies can be tricky depending on the competition.

Game0N3520d ago

Probably not. Sony doesn't see the value in it.

koolaid2513520d ago

11 thousand copies in 1 week the consumers tod Sony lmfao.

logan_izer103520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

@koolaid You mean 127,000? And Who's tod?
http://www.vgchartz.com/gam...

elazz3520d ago

@Koolaid: It sold over a million copies in retail and several hundred thousand digital. I received the full game for free after an unplayable Vita version but playable PS3 version during a sale. I think it was fixed within 10 days and they gave everyone the game again for both systems and a refund!! The game was very good and I enjoyed playing it.

And currently with with PSplus I see it going to do really good and will perhaps make sure a part 2 will happen.

Just a bit more depth in gameplay, more characters and you have a super game.

hkgamer3520d ago

@elazz

same thing happenned wih me aswell.

its good that sony gives full credit refund plus free game when something fails.

so far got two games for free like that.

No, All Stars tried to capitalize on the Smash Bros formula. It was decent but didn't capture the charm, the design or the tight controls Smash Bros has long since mastered.

Smash Bros. characters meld so nicely because they have charm and personality and to see these iconic mascots fight is such an out of character experience that you just have to love it.

Sony All Stars not so much, as most of their characters are all violent and blood thirsty anyways. Not to mention most of their All Stars are third party characters. Kind of defeats the purpose of Sony All Stars.

Dualshockers_Carlos3520d ago

I kinda agree with you on the 3rd party stuff, it was kinda obvious they were just marketing the game (dmc and mg rising)

WeAreLegion3520d ago

I'm sorry, but saying these characters lack charm is a bit ridiculous.

Ratchet & Clank?
Sly Cooper?
Nathan Drake?
Sir Daniel Fortesque?
Parappa?

Meanwhile, many of Nintendo's characters barely have stories. So, why would I care about them? I just enjoy the games they're in. I don't like Yoshi. I just like playing AS Yoshi. The mechanics of Yoshi's Island are brilliant, but I couldn't care less about the characters.

The controls on PlayStation All-Stars are tight. Very tight. I don't know why you would state otherwise. I think it totally owns any Super Smash Bros. title, as far as mechanics and combo systems are concerned. It was created by a team of fighting game vets.

krontaar3520d ago

Those are the only decent characters. Nobody said anything about "stories" not sure why you brought that up because it doesnt matter at all.

PSASBR needed polish. A lot of it. The idea was there and it could have worked, but it was a sloppy, low budget mess. They should have put 100% into the project or none at all.

Game0N3520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

@legion You're right about the fighting mechanics and combos, PSA was all over that. Unfortunately there wasn't enough meat on the bone. Smash has so many diverse game modes its almost a party game.

@krontaar true as well, it was just a smidge over indie, at least thats how it was presented. Should have been backed like a big game.

TekoIie3520d ago (Edited 3520d ago )

"Meanwhile, many of Nintendo's characters barely have stories."

Compared to what? This guy: http://www.fightersgenerati...

The only character in smash that really supports your argument is Wii Fit Trainer. But even then I'd say the fan support for the character goes against you because these are just too funny:

hkgamer3520d ago

i think the fight mechanics were too complicated for a casual game but not enough for a fighting game.

characters were also not as well known as mario, zelda pokemon.

I can agree on some of that, they should of made their game more mature, since PlayStation has always been the more mature consoles. They need not release a sequel unless they can get Crash/Cloud/Sephiroth and maybe some Spiro, and Snake. But I would definitely want to see their newer characters, like the leads from Tearaway, and Puppeteer.

They should also make scoring scheme more diverse, and make the collectable energy meta game more of a dimension to the gameplay.

hkgamer3520d ago

i guess that maybe true. not really sure what the big deal about smash is though.

problem for psallstars was that it tried to do too much. kind of like a fighter to compete with games like sf but not complexed enough. and not crazy enough as smash.

Man, look the disagree for this guy. N4G is full of Vita fanboys. It's not even funny.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69513d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop513d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard513d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi513d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin513d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus520d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer519d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
